Selected Warren-McElwain as they are the nearest mortuary that could perform a natural or green burial in a local cemetery. Arrangements were made by phone & confirmed by email.
Husband died on 18 Feb 2018. His body was picked up in North Kansas City, MO & transported to Lawrence, KS, wrapped in a shroud & placed in a cardboard container. I provided the obit to be placed in the Kansas City Star prior to the services on 22 Feb 2018, but it appeared the day after the funeral. An abbreviated obit was to appear in the Sunday edition of the KC Star -- it didn't!
The contract included ten (10) correct, certified death certificates. A month later the D.C.'s arrived with incorrect information & blanks. I notified the mortuary & was assured this would be taken care of. Each time I've contacted them I was told it would be a couple of weeks before delivery of the correct D.C.
It is now 14.5 weeks later and still no D.C.! Sent (again) email requesting when would the D.C. be available. They sent me a link to a local TV station news story about a woman waiting six (6) weeks to receive her husbands' D.C. with no comment about when I could expect delivery.
I should have withheld $1,000.00 to be paid upon delivery of correct D.C., but I paid the full amount shortly after the funeral.
So, I can't get his life insurance, IRA, etc, etc. My life is in limbo.
