This started out to be an acceptable experience UNTIL . . . I chose Shirley Brothers because my family has used them since my great grandmother's arrangements back in the 1970's. My advice is to be wary of making emotional decisions right after your loved one passes away!!! The funeral counselor was very good at telling us that "cost" was not a main concern at this time and that they would ensure financial means even though MY FAMILY told them that our loved one was not able to pay thousands of dollars. He was kinda "slick" actually I felt like I was buying a car. . . Even though the funeral was at our church the cost ended out being out of our means. After we paid almost 8,000 we still owed them about $150.XX. A few months later I called to discuss my balance and they (Shirley) did not recall telling us that "It would work out and be okay" as far as money. I ask that they write off the last $150.XX and their answer was a letter explaining their fees and how they are justified in the funeral industry. And that I still OWED them 150.XX. I felt lied to and then to add insult to injury I was called a liar in regards to the discussion referenced on the day we had made my mothers funeral arrangements. Nice and compassionate, right? In the end we paid the final bill but I will never go here or trust them with any of my loved ones again. EVER !!!!
