After having my cousin funeral there, their good customer service, and the anniversary of his death, how they sent my cousin's mother a nice thinking of you card, etc. Just very thoughtful. ..RIP Jonathan Macklin, In Jesus Name, AMEN.

My family and I were referred to Calahan Funeral Home for the services of our late grandmother, who transitioned on February 27th, 2019. To say the experience was disappointing would be generous. Now, I will say this, Mr. King was pleasant during making the arrangements , it went downhill from there. From the detached and unfriendly staff (Ex; many staff members walked past us no eye contact/no greeting with the exception of one fair skinned lady with a short cut). During the wake, which, we were left waiting for about 25 mins to view our grandmother, there were staff members walking through the room! How insensitive and disrespectful?! The back and forth corrections/reviewal of the obituary and it’s countless typos and flat out errors (Ex; a completely different church listed in the obituary), incorrect date of birth on bookmarks ordered (Ex; DOB reflected 9/05/19 vs 9/5/21), to missing resolutions (no one seems to know where or what happened however it was hand delivered to Calahan at the church during the visitation), to the presentation of the body (granted she was thin from weight lost however she appeared depleted in the casket) it appeared to be a rush job. She appeared to have just been quickly laid in the casket as she was more to the inner part and the fabric wasn’t neat at all! Her face/makeup was a mess (she was 97 years young however some genius decided to use a black pencil to draw a straight line to “fill her eyebrows”. No 97 year old has black, straight brows! A 5 year old could have done a more appealing job. Her nose was full of stuff too. (Yes, this was pointed out and promised to be corrected however the next time we saw her was the next day at her Celebration of Life. Then it appeared as if some genius brushed glitter all over her face and the black line was still very visible. Last but not least the invoice, it was all a nightmare. My grandmothers pastor worked with Deacon/Mr. Calahan on our behalf, at that time, it seemed as if Deacon/Mr. Calahan was providing some sort of discount (which we appreciated) however it was as if the customer service/services were discounted as well. The problem regarding the invoice is when we learned (April) that the life insurance company sent the funeral home the check which exceeded the face value of the policy and exceeded the agreed upon amount. Call after call, message after message, run around after run around, no response has been given. Its July and we still have yet to receive a response. Calahan Funeral Home has kept every red cent of that check to date. Again, to say the experience was disappointing would be generous. Very unsatisfactory service, lack of integrity, lack of empathy, lack of concern, lack of customer service! Utilize this funeral home at your own risk.

There was a post put up earlier that was not posted by myself. Callahan Funeral Home was very supportive and caring to our needs they helped us from the time we walked in to the time we left my sisters service was very nice and all of the staff was wonderful to us in summary I and my family were happy with the turn out P.S To Edric Callahan I apologize for the earlier post made on my account but you know and I know! that we left HAPPY so again thank you and the family for comforting us in our time of grief

Making the arrangements went well. The rest of the service rendered was lacking. l would not recommend this company to anyone

This Funeral Home was very hands on and supportive. What I liked most was that they tried to take as much burden off the bereaved family as possible they went over the details step by step. I can even order the tombstone at the funeral home. My grandmother's service was professional and I would highly recommend Calahan Funeral Home.

The Rhoden family have used Calahans funeral home before I was even born. They are very professional trustworthy and very considerate. I would recommend this Establishment to anyone who has lost a love one. One of the best if not the best services they can be provided in the Chicagoland area.

Updated: 1/9/2019 I was highly pleased and content to receive a call in response to my concerns and was immediately reassured by the staff at Calahan. I truly appreciate your diligence and collaboration to resolve this quickly and efficiently. My mind is now at peace and I again feel the comfort that I have always known while getting through this difficult time. Overwhelming thanks to the Calahan Family and all of your staff for your wonderful service! My heart is overjoyed! Calahan has been a family name since I was a child. I admired the professionalism and dignity that came with each service they handled until recently in August. While not completely disappointed, I didn't feel that same family atmosphere. We weren't allowed to view our loved one until the balance was satisfied, many childhood friends missed the service because they were told there was no service (because of the balance due), and to date not receiving any contact to pick up death certificates. Nor can family out of state view the obituary because it's not posted online. I completely understand that some things need to be done but when a family is devastated by a completely unplanned loss, there's a way to work things out in a diplomatic way with full support. I didn't get that feel this time. I miss that type of service from Calahan.

Customer service was fair, took for every to pickup my dad, didn’t use the picture I gave, requested me to drive to Chicago to sign papers, death certificate lost, everything that could go wrong did go wrong, Mr Callahan did do service recover for the most part. They are more expensive than other places, within that area.....

The Calahan Funeral Home has buried all of my loss loved ones for the last 25+ years. All of the funerals I’ve personally experienced have been extremely professional and beautiful. Every person we’ve buried has had immaculate makeup/hair and the staff are incredibly nice, respectful, and accommodating. Their obituary services are intricate and accurate. Not to mention, the Calahan family also provides daily affirmation services for grieving after funerals. My mom has found the affirmations extremely helpful in her grieving process! This funeral home truly goes the extra mile to ensure families are cared for during and after the funeral of their loved one.
