Terry Young (Ballard Family Moanalua): Terry Young was an extraordinary assistant to myself, my brother and my sister-in-law when we needed it. She went beyond her duties and kept in contact with me and my family members in regards our decision on the programs and set up for the service. Words cannot express how grateful and blessed we were to have Terry Young to help my family and I. And including everyone else that help out to make it possible. We (as a family) would definitely use Terry Young in the future again and again. Great personality and great sense of humor. And it made it more comfortable to work with her. Great Job Terry Young!!

Absolutely shameful. Still waiting for the “removal team” ... 5 hours and counting. We were told 1-2 hours. Unbelievable. UPDATE: When we complained about the long wait to our advisor, he brushed it off with "things take a long time in Honolulu". No. Things take a long time when you don't hire enough staff to do the job. Things take a long time when the phone operators don't communicate with the removal team. In the time that we waited, our family on Maui finished up work, drove the Hana Highway (2+ hours) into Kahului, got on an airplane, arrived in Honolulu, rented a car and drove out to west side Oahu. THEY arrived before the removal team.

Terrible...simple terrible. Ensure you read the contract well. 1st illegal to have more than 15 people due to fire code which is acceptable but if you want to rotate your immediate family cause to be honest who in Hawaii has only 15 family members. It then turns illegal due to laws stating that it then turns in to a funeral service. Okay...whatever the word you want to call it, wake ,viewing, funeral services what matters is that we lost a family member and the services provided by this "COMPANY" is very lacking.

Unfortunate for me, second time used their service in a year, Hailama Kahele on Oahu is the best. He even helped coordinate one involving inter-island transport of my Brother's ashes and squared everything away, no worries for me. Always personable, understanding, down to Earth and let's the light of his personality guide one out of a dark time. Professional and straight up, not trying to "sell" you something when in an emotional period of one's life. Highly recommended.

Ballard is a wonderful place to settle your families burial or cremation options. My agent Hilama was kind patient and helpful in so many ways. He made it easy for me and comfortable. I was not rushed and was guided very carefully in my decision. I highly recommend this company. Debra M. Honolulu

Honestly. I did not want to go this far to write a bad review but one of the “Directors” (Mr. Kahele Jr.) has pushed my buttons to the point that I just had to. I hope no one ever has to go through what my family had to go through with them. After doing some research and having to deal with new owners (Affordable Casket and Moanalua Morturary) you would think that they would have cared even more about customer service and revamping their image. Yet, this location has not learned from any of their mistakes. First off, they do not care about how to ease your sorrows. They make excuses about why they do not have the time to care. They talk about their personal matter not realizing their customer also has personal matters that were worse than them. Also if you have personal matter that you cannot get over, maybe you need to take care of them before tending to people who are going through a difficult situation, such as a death. Second, they do not pay attention to details nor the information and blame you for not checking, when it was originally noted correctly. Third, they say they run on “Hawaiian Time” which is not an excuse to be lazy and slow about serious matters like a death. Also the director bluntly told me if I didn’t like it them then I could just take the body and go, which was really disrespectful and demeaning. Forth, if you are going to tell a customer that you will inform them about when the death certificates are shipped out. Then you should follow through. I did not even know they had sent me anything and did not find out until my neighbor told me that they signed for them before me. Furthermore, it seems that they did not inform us correctly on how they would count how many copies they would be sending me. So he “will have to go pull the file”, basically at his own time. So I am still waiting on an answer right now. There is so much more to say, but no time to even finish. This is the worst place ever. If you plan to use these services, you have been warned. Other locations affiliated to this place may be better. But this location is not. I feel bad for the lady who works at the front desk because she really was the friendly one who at least to tried answering questions.

I would like to tell anyone who has lost a family member just how caring and wonderful Ballard family mortuary was to us. Monique was the person I was in contact with and she was amazing. She went out of her way to help me because of my situation with three kids. She made me laugh and gave me the best service. She made it effortless which is what I needed and I am forever greatful. The people who came to get my mom were kind,gentle,considerate and caring I would like to thank them as well. I would highly recommend the Ballard O'Hara and am so thankful I found them.
