If I could rate NO stars, I would. I recall the despair, pain and suffering "he" created for my father. "Carpets & Interiors (Augusta)" did the decorating and carpeting of this (then) new building. My father never used contracts in doing business; A handshake and promise was all that was needed. So all the interior trappings (carpeting, drapes, paintings, etc.) were delivered and installed - and completed as expected. But my dad was never paid. Since there were no "written" contracts the mortuary NEVER paid a dime. There were even forged documents implying payment (My dad's signature was forged; The "signature" was actually spelled wrong). My dad died not long after this incident. Stress of being cheated, and the damage done to business cash flow. He was 54 when he died. And our business bankrupt. GOD help anyone trusting this outfit...

Alfonso Dawson handled my mother remains and funeral services. I must say that although my mother had been sick for years on the day of her funeral they had her looking beautiful. I coud not believe my eyes I didn’t want to stop looking at my mother. My brother and I had never done anything like this before but they guided us through the process, made good recommendations, and made sure that things flowed as planned. I left pleased and satisfied with my Mother services and I highly recommended Alfonso Dawson. Thank you.

I was referred to Pheobe on 7/13/18 by one of her old highschool classmates. Being new to the entire process, I was unknowledgeable of expectations I should received from a furneral home. I gave 2 stars because my father honestly looked great on day of furneral (7/21/18). However, I would never refer nor conduct business again with this company. Their lack of communication (i.e. responding to texts, returning calls, keeping customer abreast of info during each phase of the process) skills alerted me from the beginning. Being vulnerable, I continued with utilizing their services out of misguided trust on my behalf. Now that monies have been received and my father supposedly cremated; my brother nor I can receive any info regarding an update of picking up the urn or progress with death certificates. I certainly understand it can be a lengthy process, but to simply communicate an update must be asking too much of them. There were issues with their suggested organist, however; I was reimbursed for that and will not go into detail here. Additionally, there was an issue with my father's flowers being given away to someone other than a true member of our family...but won't go into detail here. This post truly isn't to stain their image. I'm for supporting small business owners. But PLEASE work on your aspect of professionalism surrounding communication. I know I'm young, but deserved the same level of respect, timely responses and professional service that any other patron visiting the MLK establishment receives regardless of age. What has occurred and next actions are ultimately in our heavenly father's hands. I sincerely pray he'll softened their hearts, and I'll receive some sort of notification soon (from any employee) in reference to picking up remaining items...extremely ready to end this entire ordeal.

It's been almost two months since the passing of my father. While I mourn his passing daily, I can never express enough appreciation to the staff at Alfonso Dawson. They conducted an excellent and beautiful homegoing for my father, and even continued to support me afterwards as I prepared for college. Excellent experience with Alfonso Dawson Mortuary. Very efficient, organized and great communication throughout... I heard about this mortuary from a family member and realized my family has been using their services for 40+ years. Phoebe is the absolute BEST.
