This place is very nice.. the stars are for the employees They are very snooty , and are not very empathetic during your time of need. They want to make sure you make the sale or their attitude changes. We went in to get pricing for a loved one and they made us feel uneasy and they acted like they were better than us. I asked for a tour so I can get options of what I would to purchase for a loved one, and they basically ignored it and or didnt want to unless I agreed to purchase it without viewing it first. I was very disappointed because we've had services here for other family members and it was very nice. I dont know if they just got new staff or they just dont care anymore. Like I mentioned they just want the sale and after that they dont care, or want to help.

My father-in-law is buried here and some items that were placed on his tombstone were stolen. The cemetery staff claimed they are not responsible for any items that were stolen and it is not their problem.

So many Chulack(Culjak) grave sites there, it is difficult to remember all my relatives that have passed. Grounds are well maintained for the most part. However, my experience when my mother passed in 2000 was a memory at Calvary I would like to forget. My family requested my fathers single from 1985 be converted to a double to accommodate my mother. You would have thought we asked for something unheard of. They were resistant and would not allow any family members to witness the conversion of the grave when they finally relented and granted our request. The last thing anyone wants when a loved one passes away is conflict with a mortuary or cemetery.

A historic LA cemetery which has some very notable early citizens of LA buried there. I have family buried here and growing up in ELA, I would go there to practice photography. The monuments are incredible, the chapel and mausoleum also have stained glass windows. Take a walk though this place and read the passing of history in LA through the people who lived and does here.

Wish I could find a grave site like you can at Forest Lawn website. Not having to submit request through email and wait see when anyone gets to it.

Ferdinand Joseph LaMothe (October 20, 1890 – July 10, 1941), known professionally as "Jelly Roll Morton", was an American ragtime and early jazz pianist, bandleader and composer who started his career in New Orleans, Louisiana. Widely recognized as a pivotal figure in early jazz, Morton was jazz's first arranger, proving that a genre rooted in improvisation could retain its essential spirit and characteristics when notated. His composition "Jelly Roll Blues", published in 1915, was the first published jazz composition. Morton also wrote the standards "King Porter Stomp", "Wolverine Blues", "Black Bottom Stomp", and "I Thought I Heard Buddy Bolden Say", the last a tribute to New Orleans musicians from the turn of the 20th century. Morton's claim to have invented jazz in 1902 aroused resentment. The jazz historian, musician, and composer Gunther Schuller says of Morton's "hyperbolic assertions" that there is "no proof to the contrary" and that Morton's "considerable accomplishments in themselves provide reasonable substantiation". Alan Lomax, who recorded extensive biographical interviews of Morton at the Library of Congress in 1938, did not agree that Morton was an egotist: In being called a supreme egotist, Jelly Roll was often a victim of loose and lurid reporting. If we read the words that he himself wrote, we learn that he almost had an inferiority complex and said that he created his own style of jazz piano because "All my fellow musicians were much faster in manipulations, I thought than I, and I did not feel as though I was in their class." So he used a slower tempo to permit flexibility through the use of more notes, a pinch of Spanish to give a number of right seasoning, the avoidance of playing triple forte continuously, and many other points". --Quoted in John Szwed, Dr Jazz.

Me and my family been working with this Mortuary for a week now- and they have been having multiple BIG errors. In addition to they are very unprofessional - and looking to sell you on what you need and get your signature. Thank God my family has the finances to see this through but if we are going through headaches with these guys day after day, I can't imagine how other families are doing it, on top of the finance strain. Also I have been making calls to be sure everything is in order at other locations- which is their job to do- only to find out the rep from the mortuary hasn't even notified them. Basically I am doing their job! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT PERSONABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!

was there for my grandpas wake. it was from 630pm to 8:00pm i didn't appreciate that as soon as it hit 8:00 pm they started kicking my family out by turning off lights in the chapel. i understand the staff wants to go home after work but i thought it was very disrespectful. other than that the staff was helpful in most of our request.

Today is Mother’s Day and I was unable to leave flowers to family members due to the lack of vases and holders available. The walls were filthy dirt by the elevators and there wasn’t a person on site to assist. I’m very dis-appointed with Calvary Cemetery and people need to rethink burying their members at this facility!!!

I have my grandfather on Hospice care. I called this facility twice last week and spoke with the same representative. I advised her that my grandfather had prepaid his services there with them years ago. I provided his name and all the information I had. I was advised that they did not have any record of his prepaid service nor of my grandmas mortuary service we had with them 14 years ago. I called back twice and was told the same thing. I begged them for their help and was given " I already spoke with you yesterday we don't have your grandfather listed here." Finally I found papers from 17 years ago receipts confirming the prepayment of services arranged in good faith with Calvary and my grandfather. I called Calvary and giving them only my grandfathers name no more than the information I provided them last week I told them " I have documentation confirming prepayment of services when can i set an appointment to bring this documentation to you." They advised they would call me back and the moment they called me back they confirmed that my grandfather did prepay his services. What was different then from when I called last week? I have never felt more shammed. their unwillingness to help and be so cold to a family in their moment of need and in this business is cruel. I hope when my grandfathers time does come and we have the services at Calvary we have a more professional and empathetic experience. I spoke with the director of the facility and as kind as helpful as she was trying to rectify the situation does not undue to stress her staff and facility put us through.

Unfortunately this place is staffed with employees with terrible people skills. They seem to forget that people come here because they have suffered a loss. I was very upset and frustrated at their behavior and demeanor durring our experience.
