I am trying to find the obituary for a Robert Gene Long, I've looked everywhere but don't know which funeral home to look for, he died in Palmer or Wasilla in January 2016. Around the 12-16, thank you and any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not being generous because of the difficult time - death. The flower shop messed up and didn't deliver the flowers in time for the family viewing. They showed up afterwards, when it was over. So I was already upset. I asked two different employees of the funeral home if they could make sure the flowers made it to the celebration of life in time. Both said it would happen. This is why we didn't move them ourselves. We left the funeral home trusting they Would do what they said. Needless to say, they didn't deliver the flowers in time. They were suppose to deliver by 1:30. They showed up at 2pm, the service was already going on, then the guy walks into the service, interrupting it! One of the family members had to quickly get up and deal with it. Missing a little bit of her sisters funeral while she directed the guy to drop them off where the food was. So basically $160 worth of flowers got wasted. And that's really not my gripe. My gripe is that I promised my father-in-law who couldn't make it the funeral to support his brother, that his presence would be felt. Total bomb. It's not like there is a second chance to make this right. My daughters in the funeral business, she works for Waschelli. I know what attention to detail and professionalism is in this business. Didn't see it here.

This is a professional, caring business that I have already recommended and won't hesitate to use again when the time comes. I wanted to do some pre planning for my father to avoid making too many decisions when the time came. I checked out facilities in Wasilla, and when I went to Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, I was immedietly greeted professionally and warmly by Dedre. The facility is clean and professional looking, yet comfortable as a place of this type can be. Though I didn't end up utilizing the chapel area, they do have a nice one. This was a pre planning meeting and I had a lot of questions to ask and Dedre was patient with me and if she didn't have an exact answer for me, she quickly got one! Even though my father was still alive at that time, looking at caskets, memorial books, etc., can be an emotionally charged time. I felt comfortable with her as I began making decisions and asking questions. My father passed away soon after my meeting. But before he did, I had an ocassion to recommend Alaskan Heritage to another person that was in immediate need of a funeral home. I relayed my experience with Alaskan Heritage thus far, and they ended up using their cremation services and were very pleased with how everything was handled. When my father passed away, I met the two funeral directors when they came to where my father was. Again, the professionalism, the compassion, kindness and attention to detail, was exactly what I needed and expected. Ken Cheney was the funeral director for my father and Dedre's husband. It was comforting to me that it was a family business that I was dealing with. From the time they removed my father from his place of passing, meeting to finallize the plans, the program creation (which ended up being customized with great help from Ken and Dedre!), the flowers, the church service on one day out of town, the burial on another day in Anchorage, and coordinating the timing of it all, I was completely confident that that all would go as planned--and I was not disappointed. Though this isn't the first funeral I have been responsible for handling, it was by far the hardest one, and yet the best experience that I have had. I never once felt that I was trying to be sold something I didn't want or need. Instead they took the time to find out about my father, about me, and offer different options, explaining each, and answering all questions. My relationship with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel started out as a business relationship, but quickly turned into friends that have a business that I will never hesitate to recommend or utilize when the need arises. Thank you Dedre and Ken for all that you did for my father and for my family!
