Awesome service

I love the care and true genuine friendliness and willingnes to help from the administration! Mrs. Debby is the best! When I had lost my gift card to a session she tried her best to help me and when she offered a call back she went through and actually did call me back! The only other experience I have there is a session with a trainee that was very welcoming and did a great job making me feel better and educated on what to expect. Great place to relax and refresh highly recommend going to try it out!!!

One of the WORST places to go for a massage. Some staff (including front desk), lack manners and business ettiquet. The WORST aspect of this facility is the director Joshua W. Aguilar. He is rude and abrasive and runs a VERY poor business. Best to just get a private therapist who knows what you like! Some of the therapist I have had are in a hurry and do not do both sides of the body but spend 45 min on one side and five on the other. The place is kept freezing and the music is annoyingly loud. Everyone is in a hurry and you do NOT get what you pay for. I tried to get ahold of the owner but they refused to give me his office number and/or address to mail a letter about the facility. Sooner or later this place will have its reputation catch up to them!

Very good services at a more than fair price. My student was thorough and professional. I can't say enough about the quality of my spa package. It cost $110- if I had the same services done at a spa at home, it would have cost me $340. I was a bit nervous before meeting my student, but I couldn't have been more relaxed and impressed afterward.

This place is beyond top notch. My massage therapist was Tanner and his skill and professionalism is above and beyond. I will definitely recommend as well as return for another session.

Staff is nice and courteous. Therapist in training was very professional and cared throughout the session if I was comfortable. I will be coming back.

I was fine with the increasingly limited availability of appointments available for massage; this academy was in demand. But lately they have disappointed me greatly. Two out of the last three appointments we have had were cancelled due to a “family emergency” on the student therapist’s part and the other was the student therapist simply not showing up. My wife had an appointment in the morning, had to schedule childcare, only to show up and be told “We’re sorry but the female student you were scheduled with did not come in today but we can comp you a $10 heat pack for your next visit.” Then they offer another appointment time at their Helotes location which is at least a 20 min drive from Park North. My wife specifically asked for a female student because she is not comfortable with a male therapist. All the trouble and effort on our part went out the window which is blatantly disrespectful because they can charge a “no show” fee to customers but customers don’t get anything when it is the student that is a “no show”. It would say a lot about this place’s core values if they offered a free massage next time due to the huge inconvenience, but nothing. It’s not so much about the money, but about the principle of honoring their duty to the *paying* customer and respecting their time. I get that they are students, I get that they have reasonable prices, but it seems to be at the expense of the client’s convenience and time and at the academy’s professionalism and integrity. Everyone has their “off” days but that should be the exception and not the rule; it’s pretty much become the norm with this place as far as I’m concerned . My advice is that there are good things: the place is very nice and clean, and the students are usually exceptional, but I would honestly recommend paying the $10-$15 difference and going to a real massage place where you can rely on getting a massage when you schedule it.

My mom and I have gone to Academy for Massage for years. In that time there have only been a handful of 'not the best' massages. Fore the most part they are great! The only downfall is the front desk staff, when you call, can be a little rude.

Eric L

Poor advertising... The website states walk ins are welcome but fail to list it's only during certain times of the year. I walked in and asked for an appointment and the receptionist said no appointments until April 11 because there are no students and I should have called. If they don't take walk ins then they should clearly state to CALL for an appointment!

Enjoyable, good

Sucked from the get go. Don't go here. The list of reasons would be too long to list. Pay the extra money and go to La Canter or somewhere like that, not this place.

Melissa Kern

Very nice place

I had an incredible experience here. They got me in at a last minute appointment. Felt like a real massage experience at a spa. Does not seem like a school. Plan on coming back for sure. Great value for the price I feel.

Kaytea Elizabeth

Absolutely would not recommend. Students are not properly trained before being thrown out onto the floor. The student was polite enough but ended up just hurting me and making me uncomfortable with their lack of knowledge of anatomy and disregard of basic practices in a spa. I wanted to say more but was so upset I just ended up leaving immediately after. I shouldn’t have to explain to someone multiple times that they are pushing into my spine instead of my muscles and hurting me. My back feels worse than when I went in.

I pre-paid for an appointment and requested a specific therapist 2 weeks out because she's the only competent therapist there but they deliberatly booked me for a day she wasn't even on the schedule, even though that's what I specifically paid for. When I complained to the front desk she said to her co-worker in spanish that she didn't feel like dealing with this white motherEXPLETIVE today. She obviously didn't know I speak better spanish than her, so I went off on her for making a very distasteful and racist comment when all I was doing was voicing my disapproval of the academy selling me a therapist session that didn't work there that day. They refused to refund my money and wouldn't even tell me the next time the lady was on the schedule. In other words, this school flat out stole my money. I can't believe this is actually an educational institution.

Quality of service decreasing, they cancel appointment without any availability for clients.

Bunch of dysfunctional FRONT DESK employees and STAFF...I scheduled a COUPLES massage a week prior and upon arrival, waited for over 30 Mins before the staff informed US that one of the students HAD NOT SHOWED UP nor was answering her phone and that ONLY ONE of US could get MASSAGED. We asked to speak to the MANAGER the staff member stated that he was unavailable (was in class). SHE stated that she was the ASSISTANT MGR but couldn't resolve the issue, even though my wife and I had left work early to make this appointment; NO HELP, NO BACK-UP PLAN, NO ATTEMPT to COMPENSATE....just, "I'm Sorry. Only one of you can get massaged!" All the while, other patrons were coming and going, yet nothing was done to try to help accommodate us for THEIR NO-SHOW STUDENT with someone else. This place is a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! YOU COULD BE NEXT to have issues with them....BEWARE!

Lisa Kozodoy

If google would allow me to give no stars I would. But let me say this the instructors the classes the curriculum is amazing. The leader ship as far as the management team owners etc. is horrible they still have not learned that the students are what makes the school run. People who work for the Academy for massage therapy training are disposable. My best advice to anyone wanting to attend the Academy, just to be a student. Do not work for the school.

Kandi Kissinger

The service and massages have never been good quality. They over charge for services that non licensed therapist are preforming. Also have a 24 hour cancellation policy and will charge your card even if you call and cancel the day before! Will never go back

Truth

Dysfunctional owner and management. Incredibly disorganized for a so called school. A poor teacher walked out in tears due to frustration and lack of support in her position and ended up quitting. Pay extra and get better education somewhere else. They have an alarmingly high turnover rates with their entire staff due to dysfunction. Spend your dollar somewhere else whether for massage school or for a massage.

Brittany Sorrell

called 07/25/2014 spoke to a guy named nick and scheduled an apt for 4:45 pm for my anniversary. They messed up my apt and then tried to get me to reschedule. I agreed but they wanted to charge me first for their mistake ruining my anniversary no discount or anything. I don't trust this place. Ive been going to the massage school on walzem for years and never had any problem. Guess they thought they got the last laugh but I canceled the card they had on file last week so joke on them. Don't go here staff is rude and incompetent.

I cannot say enough nice things about AMTT! The students at the school are exceptional in their therapeutic approach, the spa is stunningly gorgeous and incredibly clean, plus it smells SO good! On top of everything, the price is fantastic
