My son went from being afraid of water to a confident and enthusiastic swimmer through lessons here.
Great place to have an event! The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
I'm so thankful for Sports Plex after-school care. I am able to work because of the safe care and various programs they offer my son. It is my pleasure to be apart of a great program with reasonable prices. Thanks to all of the great staff members of the after-school program. CRobinson
Lots for individuals and families to do here! Take exercise classes, swim, even skate at the indoor ice rink. Kids can have birthday parties here, too.
Great people and facility
Love this place. All the classes they offer are great!
Great summer camp, great ice skating and swimming areas. Birthday area could be brightened up a bit
Amazing facility
Great place to workout and you can't beat the price!
This place is going downhill fast.
Only place I know of nearby for ice-skating. Nice, too.
Ice skating is fun
Swimming, ice skating and activities. Our kids have really enjoyed it here!
This place is awesome very clean
Great place for beginner skaters. Facility has skate mates to help kids learn to skate.
Good, but old.
Ice skating fun for the whole family. The sport center also offers swimming, workout room, Zumba dance, and more to keep the entire family in shape. After the activities are done, you can get a massage in their massage room.
A great place to go skating. Nicest rink in the Triangle. Has a good adult hockey league. The pool change rooms are a little gross, but the pool is OK. Beware of the skate rentals, they are dull and some are VERY old!
Honestly, I feel as if we residents of Hillsborough get the best deal, because the SportsPlex is kind of like a town Plaza. I'm always seeing people I know there, and it's always humming with activity. There are many more offerings than I have time to take advantage of, but I use the fitness room, and sometimes go skating. One of these days, I'll take in a yoga class, too. The setting is bucolic, with the lovely ponds where herons sometimes hang out. Also there is a senior center that's always buzzing, and if you're 55+, you get a deal on membership if you do a health evaluation with them. Well worth it! Recently, my husband had a knee replacement, and it's great to be able to take him over to UNC physical therapy which is right there at the SportsPlex and get my workout in while he's in PT. I really love this place. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars: it could be run a bit better, some of the facilities needing upgrading and greater care; also the rental skates are pretty awful; and why not give a coat of paint sometimes on scuffed up walls? I also would prefer if the snack bar offered a wider variety of healthy options, and quit offering sodas and sweets. But I am a SportsPlex FAN!!!
Great indoor swimming pool
Great location with lots to see while walking.
I love taking my son here. Floating on my back while staring at the ceiling makes me feel like I'm tripping. It's nice to have a place such as this nearby.
Lots of fun for ice skating. However, they don't clean the ice very often so the ice gets pretty rough and hard to skate on. Also, some of the skates aren't great quality. However, if you ask them for other ones, the staff will kindly accommodate. I recommend the ones that come up higher for ankle support.
Nice place to work out and swim they have a lot of classes and the staff is great
Very nice
The pool is awesome
Great for public skating
Kids need to get their energy out. I give this place a high five
Public ice skating sessions on weekends are not extremely crowded
Have both a 25-yard, 10-lane competition pool (for lap swimmers, swim teams, and water polo teams) and a recreation pool for splashing around. Lap pool water is well maintained - clear, clean, and not overly chlorinated. The lap pool depth is at least 6 feet, i.e. over most people's heads, but rec pool has varying depths for all ages, water basketball, water jogging, and the like. Never have failed in getting a lap lane, but they do have occasional swim meets that use all the lanes - check the on-line schedule for dates / times. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Locker rooms and showers are older, but kept clean. You can rent a locker or just use the daily lockers - bring your own lock. Have swim suit spin-dryer. Can buy lap swim passes and your info is kept on-line so you don't have to carry physical pass punch cards with you, which is nice.
Really nice facility, clean and friendly staff.
water is TOO cold, even in the summer. It looks cloudy and frankly, kind of gross. we stayed 30 minutes and I'm not a picky person
Great facility! Amazing lap pool.
Great place for the kids and parties
This was the most horrible pool I have ever been to. Called in to ask if they had a diving board before going, and they receptionist said yes. I get here, and see no diving board. The pool looks as though it has never been pressure washed. Honestly, unless you want a disease, don't come here!
Nice Senior Center
This place is a great place to hang out but I would say that it's over priced. The staff is also very rude and not very understanding.
Great place for kids
Local fun
Decent sized ice rink
Smells better than the Raleigh rink, plus it has it all. Pool, gym, rink, classes, snack bar.
Always a nice experience there.
Impressive, offering many classes, workout areas, pools, and comfortable upscale areas to relax. It's just so so very expensive. If you're upper middle class, enjoy, but if not you might look around for better deals. The benefit, of course, is that the Sportsplex has everything in one location.
Great ice skating rink. Nice amenities. Skates were in great repair along with the learners. Very nice exercise area along with group exercise room. Good selection of snacks. Parking lot is a little small and a car was broken into while we were there.
I think the Orange County Sportsplex has really upped its game to competition’s levels with the new field house and the renovated ice rink area. I do think the pool is very disgusting though and needs new blocks, pool floor, new deck, new scoreboard, and a fresh paint job in my opinion. Sportsplex is about 15 years old and is making many changes, which I love, I am very excited to see the turnout after this summer’s renovation to the pool area.
Positives- Iceskating and swimming in the same building which is nice. Both are pretty clean. Negatives- Friendliness of staff varies greatly. For example, the large white male who gives out your ice skates is borderline rude. Don’t expect anything more than an annoyed “Size?” to come out if his mouth. Also, gave each of my kids a quarter to get a “prize” for the machines near the front. Both used the quarter and got zero. Apparently when the machines get low on product, it may not give anything. I told the lady at the desk (prob 40, black, with a beanie on) who with an aggravated look (may as well have rolled her eyes) way happened. As she slowly opened a piece of gum and placed it in her mouth she said “We don’t own the machines so we have no way to give you your money back.” I was confused by this but decided to let it go. However, I’m still trying to understand how you can have machines on your property that are taking money and not giving anything and you can’t do anything about this. Very poor service.
Ice skating and a swim. Nice.
It's a good place to go to the gym i love it and it has pools and ice skate i just love this place
Used the pool and the public skating rink! Don't forget to warn the clerk at the skate rental if you want figure skating or hockey skates.
Good place to work out.
Affordable local recreation. Pool and ice rink
So cozy and good for your kids
My son and I love it here.
Best sheet of ice in the triangle , I have been skating here since it opened, it has only gotten better over the years.
This review pertains to their birthday parties. We booked a party package for 10 kids with swimming afterwards. The good: The woman at the front desk was very warm and friendly; our room attendant was nice but other than bringing the food in, they don't do anything party-related; the 'party room' had fun bean bag chairs and it did have our requested colors for the table cloth and plates/cups; the pool itself was awesome; the girls locker room was clean. The not-so-good: The party room had no music or even speakers to bluetooth into - not a huge deal (we just used our phone) but it was the opposite of a "party atmosphere"; the facility had nothing to light candles with - we should have known to bring matches but we are renting a birthday party package so they should have this on hand and it was frustrating searching all over for a lighter and coming up with nothing; and the absolute worst part was the lifeguard. He had reddish hair and a beard and there were 15+ kids in the pool and he walked away at least 4 times in 2 hours - actually walked out of the pool area (into an office) or he walked down to the other part of the pool. There were times when he was not watching the kids for at least 5 minutes. I basically stood at the pool's edge for most of the party because I was responsible for 9 of these children and I felt the life guard was not reliable. Clearly they need more than one lifeguard on duty, with one being dedicated to the open swim area.
Did not like it, got looped into an annual contract. They did not explain that I could have paid on an "as use" or daily policy, Then they charged me an $85 cancellation fee and plus I had to pay for an extra month ( 30 day notice). Then they kept charging me long after I cancelled. Not happy. Would never go down there again!
Family friendly center, best ice rink in the area
Keeps getting better.
Fun place to ice skate
Ventilation system in the ice rinks locker room have not worked 4 years. It can get pretty steamy in there. The rink itself is great!
Great place for the kids to go
Nice, multi purpose facility. The building and everything inside has some age on it, but still a nice place. The gym overlooks the ice rink which makes it neat to run on the treadmill while watching people ice skate.
Great ice rink
Love this Place! It's like family. ...
Our Orange County Senior Center can be a busy place with all the classes - from different forms of art to cards games (where you make good friends no matter your age), to classes in line dancing and yoga, bridge, shooting pool, or signing up for day trips as well as cruises. Then if you're up for exercising, there's a beautiful sports complex attached complete with a pool (and classes), regulation sized ice rink and top notch gym equipment. They accept Silver Sneakers so the only thing left is a fine lunch (catered) for $1.00. What are you waiting for?
First time there and I was impressed.
Loved this place! Great place to take your family for a night of fun.
Ton of kids and adults go to the Sportsplex! It's a busy place!
Lots to do here for the whole family. Indoor pool, ice rink, fitness center. 80 exercise classes taught per week! Excellent child care while you workout.
Thank you for having the special Olympic They are beautiful people too
Only downside is the food could be better.
Great place for a workout, exercise classes, or ice skating. Will be even better when new construction is complete.
Good ice skating
Well kept gym. I enjoy the public skating. Indoor pool is heated. Also has a baby pool.
Pretty cool location for partied
My grandchild loves that place she is 9years old I like it to
Something for everyone. Senior Center does great work.
New courts for basketball, great place
The pool is clean and very big for swimmers and for family fun! the day camps/summer are super fun and kids get to swim and ice-skate and during rest time they get to pick out a book, read and eat lunch! you go home very tired and happy! i would know, I spent my whole summer there once! My dad and I might even be going today!
Love it
I love the skate program. Jayme and her staff do a great job with the kids
The swim instructors are so nice and have taken my daughter's swim level up by leaps and bounds!
Best place to swim.
The water aerobics classes are AWESOME!!
A little old and dingy, but it's we'll run, and where are you going to find so many things to do? Recommended!
It's a great facility for the whole family. Two swimming pools, one with dedicated lap lanes, ice skating rink, weights, classes, and about to add indoor soccer and basketball. After school, off-day camps, and preschool care. Lessons for swimming and ice skating. Snack bar and friendly, helpful staff. Some employers give discount for membership.
Local pool, ice skating and other activities. Staff is friendly. Locker rooms are smelly like most places.
Not only does the Sportsplex have great pools and the ice rink, but they offer MANY popular exercise classes with good teachers and leaders. All the classes are included in you membership fee. There's also a nice workout room with a view of the ice rink. You can watch hockey and figure skating while you use the treadmill or trainer of your choice.
I like the gym, it's not usually crowded and has a variety of machines to use. The pool is large and clean. They also have life jackets and noodles available for use, and a good kiddie pool. Most times, there is a lifeguard on duty, too.
Large pool and ice skating park.
The new 'Field House' addition is top notch! A real gym/fitness facility.
Nice complex, just not a lot of seating when holding swim meets.
Great place!
Got looped into an annual contract. They did not explain that I could have paid on an "as use" or daily policy, Then they charged me an $85 cancellation fee and plus I had to pay for an extra month ( 30 day notice). Then they kept charging me long after I cancelled. Not happy. Would never go down there again!
Wonderful multi sports complex staff very polite
Not the best gym to go to.
Great people and great facility!
I can only attest to the pool and locker rooms, but both of those were great. I love the three pool system. It gives everyone more room.
There. Are lots. Of exercise equipment and A variety of spors to do skating and. And ic Hockey.
Great for kids
Helpful front desk staff with getting my new membership completed. Clean facilities. Not too crowded.
Great place, but very crowded on weekends
Fantastic gym. The bathroom cleanliness is the only thing holding back my fifth star.
Very good.
Great summer camp. Swimming, ice skating, soccer. Beats most places.
Great fitness facility! Can't beat the price, and the 6 AM classes are the best!
Has a wide assortment of activities.
Great staff.
Ice skating is awesome!!! The kids who work here are mostly not helpful or professional (shocker) the pool isn't that fabulous for children. No zero entry.
Pleased
Pool itself is fine, yet lighting needs retrofit and locker room is clunky with weird antislip floor mats that hold water.
I had my daughter's 7th birthday party here. They forgot half of the food we ordered, the host for the party was horrible. Instead of enjoying the party we we're hosting and cleaning up after everyone.
An excellent facility for ice skating and hockey. It's very clean, staff is courteous and professional, and food is good quality with very reasonable prices.
Would it really kill you to put on your website that your pool is closed for renovations???!!!The website said it was open till 10pm so I drove 30 minutes just to find a pile a rubble and construction.
Great place, good value, needs updating. Morgan is an awesome coach!
Love this place. Personally, I feel they have the best water aerobic classes in the area.
Great venue and the Ice rink too..
There is no denying the family-friendly atmosphere at the Sportsplex. There are activities for all ages and the capacity to not feel like you're not wading through people. Our two-year-old loves their child care, and I love not feeling pressured while I work out. Look for discounts on membership from your employer or even randomly from your insurance provider as they provide a really great value for the facilities.
Fun place to go ice skating. It was my first time and thankfully they had some helpers available in the form of big plastic walkers. By the end, I became comfortable enough to make it around once without it, although I still had to hold onto the wall! Fun place!
Great facility!
The best pool to work out in.
My daughter enjoyed her swimming lessons.
The bathroom's are disgusting
Had a great time
Why is one person watching over 20 kids outside on a day like today?
Fantastic group classes!
Great falicility, just a bit outdated and dirty.
Very friendly reception and the water exercise are the bomb
Great place for some pick up hockey.
The skating rink is so good, but the skate laces were to short
Family membership is excellent. My kids love it.
Other than a very evil and rude Vietnam Vet that was there during the
Long time member of the Sportsplex and use the pool multiple times a week. This pool caters to the swim teams and is a nice facility but if you swim in the evening due to working and not able to swim before work then it is always a challenge to get a lane. Many times there are no lanes due to the swim teams and the schedule is not always accurate due to other groups taking lanes. So if you are a swim team member or can swim during the middle of the day then it is very convenient but if you need to swim in the evening then you will have a headache trying to get a lane.
Fun place to hangout. Great for all ages, but can be crowded sometimes.
The swimming area is great and big, me and my family went on Saturday and it wasn't that full plus it's very cheap for a family of four it's only $18.00 Adult: $5.00 Child: $4.00.
My Son and grandson play ice hockey here. The complex is clean, staff great and facilities top notch. 109% better than Greensboro.
Go to it. Its fun
I can only speak for the ice rink part of the facility, but having been to all the rinks in the area this is easily the best one in the triangle or triad region. Locker rooms are the best of any rink I've ever been to and the care and maintenance of the ice is top notch.
I have been going to the sportsplex since I was a kid. I am now 30. They work hard at giving everyone a nice location to go to. There is always room for improvement. But overall it's good.
Will be joining mainly for use of pool as a work out. I wish there was a bigger gym for the place that is my only gripe.
My daughter is finishing up some swim lessons here. I wish I knew the name of her instructor, but this young woman has been wonderful. She's incredibly patient! My daughter is learning and loves to come here for swim lessons.
We only go here because we get a discount, to use the facilities. Our kids don't take lessons here for swimming because if you compare pricing at all it is cheaper everywhere else. We can put 2 in private lessons for what it cost to have one in group here. And private lessons are more effective anyway. The county boasts about the revenues from this place, I think the pricing for lessons could be more family friendly. Otherwise it is only ok, nice to have a pool to go to that isn't one of those annual membership pools. Family changing room has a shower but no toilet which is not common sense for those with little ones.
Clean, kindly staff, many amenities. Work out, take a yoga or spin class, swim or ice skate. Grab a concession or a massage. This place has it all!
Good place to play hockey
Friendly staff, quality child care and reasonable pricing.
Swimming pool and spa girls
The Sportsplex offers swim lessons, summer swim league (there's also a year-round), hockey, and figure skating classes for children. Recreational swimming and ice skating can be enjoyed by the whole family. Massage and exercise classes are offered for adults. There is also a childcare facility on site for teacher workdays, school holidays, and after school, called Kidsplex. They are in the process of building a field house which will have basketball courts, a gymnasium, etc. Membership is pricey; be sure to ask if a discount of offered through your employer. I only have personal experience with the pool which is generally cold but a very nice set up. We also love having our kids in summer swim league here.
