I recently visited Dane Delane studio to receive a massage by Summer. I must start this review from my first step into the salon….a pleasure from the get go. Being hit by the smell of Aveda is one thing, but the salon itself it warm and serenely decorated. The owner was very welcoming and down-to-earth friendly. I was instantly put at ease…a huge relief from the hustle and bustle of the holidays. The massage room was extremely comfortable, from the ambiance, to the rug that your toes melt into, to a heated massage table with sheets to die for (so much so I briefly looked for the tag when alone). Summer has a soothing persona, and nonchalantly gets to know you and your needs through pleasant conversation. Having experienced a multitude of massages from many sources…I can honestly say this was not only one of the most pleasant, but more importantly, effective massages I have ever had. I can’t explain her touch better than to describe it as nurturing. I could tell that she was completely tuned in to my physical responses, as she spent more time in the areas that needed it without me having to say a word. Afterwards, she described what she felt in a knowledgeable manor; where the tensions were, what she did, and how you could potentially avoid the problems. As I left the room, I complemented the owner on the attributes of the massage room components… and her husband sent me a link for the amazing sheets! The whole treatment was completed by a really cool, yet simple Ayurvedic Chakra Balancing using Aveda scents that completed the experience full circle. This will become a staple of my visits to Ocean Isle, especially since they are in the process of expanding, so it will be even better next time!
