I highly recommend Carolina Birth and Wellness. I ordered placenta encapsulation and Emily was a pleasure to work with and very helpful. The encapsulation was done in my own home and I got to watch the process in a comfortable environment and ask questions to learn. I really enjoyed the service and hope the pills help me work through any postpartum issues. :) Thanks again!

Emily was fantastic to work with! I couldn’t have made it as far as I did attempting a natural labor and delivery without her.

I found CBW online when researching placenta encapsulation. Emily was extremely professional and they come out to your place of residence, which is super convenient. This was my first experience with encapsulation, which I would highly recommend. The process was not only extremely sterile, but my energy post-partum was exceptionally high, mood was stable and I healed rather quickly after my cesarean. Highly recommended trying it out and using CBW!!

I enlisted the help of Emily and Megan when I was struggling with my newborn's colic and acid reflux and needed some time for myself during the week to maintain my sanity. Their postpartum care was exquisite! I knew my daughter was in great hands with two warm, knowledgeable, and reliable doulas, so I could really enjoy my time away and engage in the self-care that I needed (from workouts to showering to grocery shopping alone -- the little things that meant so much!). I am tremendously grateful for the support that they provided to my family and would highly recommend their services to other moms. Ask for the help that you need! It is worth every penny!

Carolina Birth and Wellness was the best decision my husband and I made throughout our pregnancy. We hired a birth doula and I had my placenta encapsulated as well as a postpartum massage. The amount of support we felt from the moment we made this decision has been truly amazing. We had such a lovely (long and natural :p) birth experience because of our wonderful doula. Being a first time mom is not easy. So grateful to have found CB&W and their passionate, kind, knowledgeable and experienced staff! They have so much to offer, check them out!

Working with Morgan and Emily was amazing. It was my second birth but my first experience having a doula for labor, and it was incredible to see how helpful it was. Before the birth, I met with both of them, and it was so great to get to know both my primary AND the doula who would be my backup, just in case. They interviewed me on all the points of labor, finding out my wishes, what I would need, and what would be most helpful to me throughout the birth. They texted me with encouragement and support throughout the rest of my pregnancy and were always available for my concerns and questions. When I went into labor at midnight, Morgan was ready and met me at the birthing center right away. My labor ended up being seven and a half hours long, and she was so helpful throughout. Before active labor began, she helped me to relax, massaging my hands and keeping the environment calming. During active labor she worked tirelessly, applying pressure to my lower back where my contractions were the most painful, and she was SO HELPFUL reminding me to keep my body relaxed throughout each contraction. I am convinced that is what helped my labor progress so quickly. Through the pushing stage, I only needed the physical presence of my husband, but she stayed near giving encouraging words and assistance—reminding me to relax and helping me to calm down. She also captured some of the first photos after birth on my camera, which I am so happy to have! Her assistance was invaluable all the way through. I am so thrilled and happy with the way my labor went. There is not one thing I would change. Morgan also checked on me postpartum at an in-home visit, which was convenient and helpful. It was so nice to have someone checking in, and someone to reminisce about the birth with!

Recently took the Comfort Measures class with Emily. She was very friendly and I felt that my husband and I both learned a lot in the class. She was very open to a variety of discussions, while still incorporating the things we needed to know. Would highly recommend the classes!

We loved our experience with CB&W! This was my first pregnancy, and I was planning for an all natural birth. The monthly group sessions were a great way to meet other expecting parents and prepare for postpartum, with meeting topics such as feeding options, recovery, preparing the rest of the family, etc. Emily and Morgan were great to work with on the one-on-one sessions as well. For the big day, Morgan joined for the birth and we were so thankful for her mental, emotional, and physical support - she was literally holding my leg up while I pushed It was nice to have another person on-hand (in addition to my husband) for the whole process and have someone who knew what to expect, could keep us calm, and help me find my voice and stay aligned with my birth plan. I was able to have a natural birth and I feel very happy about the labor and delivery. I have CB&W to thank for such a positive experience!

I loved having Emily com to our home for prenatal and postpartum massage. She was able to work with our schedule and space. It just felt very comfortable to have her here. She also taught me how to do postpartum belly wrapping which has been great so far. She is obviously very competent and passionate about supporting families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum recovery.

Emily and Morgan are wonderful! Our in-home meetings leading up to labor were great and my husband and I really enjoyed getting to know them both as we approached the end of my pregnancy. They helped me work through my fears from my previous birth and give me the tools to have a better experience with my second birth. Having a doula was a game changer -- I was able to cope through contractions, I felt more confident in myself, I felt extremely supported and was able to have the calmer birth I was hoping for. I seriously cannot recommend Emily and Morgan enough!

Emily and Morgan are great! They have a wealth of information not only about pregnancy, labor and delivery, but also local resources! Being new to the Triangle while pregnant with our second had its challenges, but their services helped dramatically with the acclimation. I am super excited about the expanding group prenatals and social meetups as ways to build social supports! #CWTribe

We were really happy with our experience with CB&W. We had a personalized refresher birth class which was excellent, and they also encapsulated our placenta. They were both professional and really kind people, and they came to us, which was awesome. We highly recommend CB&W!

My husband and I had a grandparents preparation session with Emily in February, it was a very enjoyable experience. Emily was very resourceful, professional, most important, she is very nice. I will recommend her to my friends.

I would highly recommend working with Carolina BIrth and Wellness! I knew I wanted a doula to support our birth. I love that we were assigned two different doulas that we got to know ahead of the birth. It was comforting to know that one of them would be there when I was in labor. Abbi was the one on call during my labor and she was fantastic! She was such a calm and comforting presence and helped me reach my goal of having an unmedicated birth. Regardless of your birth goals, I would highly recommend working with one of the doulas at Carolina Birth and Wellness!

Emily is a very skilled and knowledgeable massage therapist. She was attentive; listening and caring about my specific massage needs. Her warm and friendly personality made me feel very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Emily has been my massage therapist for a few years now. She is a knowledgeable professional who approaches massage from a truly therapeutic perspective. She understands the body and how massage can enable well-being. My profession involves a lot of computer-time and she always know how to work the knots out!

Camden Carver

My wife and I had a fantastic experience with CB&W. We were fortunate enough to have Abbi during labor and delivery and could not have been happier with how things went. Highly recommend this group for first time parents-to-be!

Wonderful to work with for my prenatal and delivery needs. I’ve worked with other doulas who were great for delivery but Emily and Morgan were great throughout. Providing lots of support and checkins. They'd even proactively check in at milestone weeks and provide resources. On top of that they were professional, friendly, and overall great support for my third child. Highly recommend!

Amanda Harwell

We worked with Carolina Birth and Wellness for doula services which helped us immensely to deliver our first child! Cannot recommend enough, they are fantastic! Prenatally, during our birth and postnatally, we felt incredibly supported and empowered as first time parents!

CB&W helped me tremendously in preparing for birth. I started with their Birth Options in the Triangle class which was super helpful in determining which place would be the best fit for us. Then, we decided to retain their doula services and really enjoyed getting to know both Emily and Morgan. They provided two preparation meetings - the first one guided us in creating a birth and postpartum plan, and the second allowed my husband and I to practice labor positions. It was so great having knowledgeable doulas "on call" for our random questions and even well into our postpartum experience, we're enjoying the benefit of having their expertise on everything from local meetings to connect with other moms to cloth diapering how-to's. Highly recommend their services!

Tldr; Carolina Birth and Wellness helped me create the birth I didn’t even know I wanted. I can not recommend them highly enough. The entire team is amazing. People often look at me funny when I describe my labor and delivery as one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Of course, it was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done and there definitely was pain - that goes without saying. But, it was different than anything I expected and it was so utterly empowering to bring my daughter into this world. A large part of the reason my experience was so positive is because of my team from Carolina Birth and Wellness. I didn’t know in the beginning if I even wanted to hire a doula. But when I thought about who would be attending my birth, I realized a doula would be invaluable. My husband was as clueless as I was about how labor would actually happen and my mom had only ever given birth - not supported someone else in labor. Emily and Morgan were both present during the last few weeks of my pregnancy - checking of me and offering advice when they could. They helped me create a birth plan and took lots of notes about what I expected would be helpful in a high stress situation and what I thought I’d like to avoid. For instance, I asked them to not offer me pain medication - I decided I would ask for it if I needed it, but if they offered I would feel like they didn’t think I could handle what was happening. It was very nice, with all the underlying anxiety leading up to labor, to have talked through those things since it definitely helped Emily and Morgan feel less like strangers and much more comforting. Morgan actually attended my birth and while I anticipated her to be helpful, she exceeded all of my expectations. She took care of little things like changing the music and filling my water bottle. But also big things - physically supporting me while I completed the Miles Circuit and emotionally supporting me when, during a particularly painful period, I thought I couldn’t handle any more and had closed my eyes and was holding my breath. Morgan basically coached me to open my eyes/look at her and remember to breath. It kept me grounded and moving through the pain. I can not speak highly enough of her compassion and kindness, but also her sternness when I was stubborn and her steadfast confidence in my ability to succeed. She literally “mothered the mother”. Another benefit was how helpful she was for my support team. She able to give my husband and mom ideas on how best to support me and she kept up with my husbands water bottle too so he could stay focused on me. It was also very calming and comforting for him to have someone who could say “yes, this is normal” or “yes, this is progress”. It’s distressing to see your partner going through something as difficult/painful as birth and from the outside it can appear that something is wrong. But he was able to settle into the idea that things where going well because of Morgan’s reassurance. If we choose to have another baby I have absolutely no doubt that we will hire Carolina Birth and Wellness again. And I definitely recommend them to anyone who is unsure about hiring a doula. A doula is worth it generally. But CBW is worth it specifically. P.s. splurg on the postnatal massage! Your body worked hard!

Morgan was so helpful during my delivery. She was very calm and kept her composure even when I was struggling. I highly recommend her!

I took Emily's infant massage class, and I'm glad I did. She created a relaxed, accepting atmosphere, was professional and experienced, and had useful handouts, since it's hard to remember everything.

I cannot recommend Emily, Morgan and the rest of the CBW team enough! I contacted a couple of other local doula agencies before finding CBW and within just a few minutes of meeting with Emily and Morgan, I knew that we would be a great fit. This was my first pregnancy and I was unsure of so many things, but was mostly looking for support during labor and delivery (my biggest worry!) They went above and beyond to provide resources and check in throughout my entire pregnancy (including postpartum) making me feel much more at ease. One of the things I found most helpful was a meeting we had with Morgan where we discussed late pregnancy (35+ weeks) and birth preferences. This process was great because we reviewed decisions we may have needed to make towards the end of pregnancy and during labor and delivery. Morgan gave an unbiased description of different options, answered questions and allowed my husband and I to prepare and record our preferences. As first timers, this made us feel way more prepared and informed. I really appreciate their organization, professionalism and everything they did to help me bring my healthy baby boy into the world. If you are a first time mom, don't think twice about choosing CBW!

My husband and I were interested in a doula to assist in the birth of our first baby. We wanted a birth with no or low intervention if possible. We consulted with Abbi and Megan and decided Carolina Birth and Wellness was a good fit for our needs and wants along with the Midwifery Program at UNC-CH. The two prenatal visits helped us develop a birth plan and discover what I'd want in terms of support during the birth. Abbi and Megan were awesome at providing general birthing information along with additional resources and contacts, as well as communicating with us throughout the pregnancy. Megan attended our son's birth, and she was a critical part of our team! It was comforting knowing I had an additional person there advocating my needs and wants. She provided emotional support for both me and my husband, and I know my husband appreciated the ability to alternate the administering of comfort measures with someone since I basically wanted someone rubbing my back for 6 hours straight! :) Megan's knowledge, support, and calming presence was integral to our birthing experience. We couldn't have asked for a better doula! In addition, we appreciated the ease of registering for the doula service, continued support via Facebook groups and meet-up invites, and Emily's impeccable communication throughout these past few months.
