When my back went out, it felt like a knife through my sciatic nerve. I called them because they were the closest chiropractor. It was a similar pain I’ve had before that my regular chiropractor was able to adjust but we were on vacation. They asked me to wait until 4:30 the next day, which felt like eternity but I was too thankful for the help to care. My husband, however, was very worried and called them back. He wanted to make sure they would take our insurance though we made it clear we were willing to pay out of pocket, and that they were confident I could be adjusted. They assured him that even if they couldn’t, there was something they could do for me. They bumped me up to 12 since I was in such constant pain.
We came 15 minutes early and it was extremely obvious how bad off I was. My husband had to nearly carry all my weight, I was shuffling my feet unable to pick them up or put any real weight on my left, and had tears in my eyes the whole time. I was unable to sit so had to stand the entire time I waited, which ended up being an hour.
Finally, the chiropractor wouldn’t even come out to talk to me, but instead had the receptionist tell me they thought I should go to an urgent care. At first I took them seriously and discussed how we both knew there was nothing urgent care could do except a pain pill script I wasn’t willing to take. They had assured me over the phone they’d do something! I repeated a lot of things like I’d pay out of pocket, I’d waited an hour, I’d had the injury before while pregnant and the adjustment worked, asked them to at least do the electrodes to loosen the muscles, or i’d see the message therapist they had in. I was crying in pain on our first day of vacation, and my husband and children were stressed to the max! Obviously they had run over their appointment times and everyone wanted to go to lunch. They didn’t care about my situation at all, just tried to get rid of me. The receptionist clearly didn’t know what to tell me and the chiropractor wouldn’t talk to me.
I called the next chiropractor I could find. He had me in by 4 and I walked out of his office on my own feet tear free! He even did my neck on the left where I get migraines without me having to even say anything! He was top notch and super sweet. If you want real care, Highland Chiropractic in Boone is amazing. He did an extra adjustment a few days later and had me up and walking, swimming, and golfing (no rock climbing though) with the family.
