It was my first time in a salt room. The place is very very small. When you walk in, you are asked to take a seat in the "office" which is a small room with 4 chairs. The one employee (that day??) proceeded to ask each client the necessary health information. I was among 4 other people that watched and listened to each client provide PRIVATE information. Um, HIPAA? It was very uncomfortable.
All 5 of us were shown to the 10x10 room that consisted of salt "wall canvases", various salt lamps and a salt floor. We each sat in a reclining beach chair (what??) listening to relaxing spa music (the first positive aspect of the location) and were told to "enjoy the 45 min experience".
The 5 of us were literally head to toe in this warm salt box. A mother had brought her 10? year old daughter who giggled and crinkled her water bottle for 10 minutes. After about 20 minutes, the one employee walks back in to give optional 10 min foot massages for $11.70. Two people opted in. (Now I was wondering who was manning the front desk) The employee proceeded to put on gloves (the LAST positive aspect I can state about the location) and give foot massages. As one lady's feet were right next to my head, I had the distinct pleasure of listening to lotion squish around on her feet for the next ten minutes. (Read with sarcasm) The second foot massage was a whopping 2 feet away so the next 10 minute lotion squishing was not as loud. (Now we're up to 40 min in the room)
The mother and daughter got up and left, leaving 3 of us in this salt closet. The employee returned to the front desk I assume. Finally in silence, I was able to relax a bit. The room grew very warm and uncomfortable. After what felt like another 20 minutes, the employee comes to get us. She thanked us all for coming and offered us all a package deal for the future. We all declined and left the location.
I was really bummed about the experience. I was hoping to relax and find relief of sinuses and just get the benefits from the Himalayan salt. Not only did that not happen AT. ALL. but when I looked at the time on my car's dash, it was 2 hours after I had walled in!! The 45 minute session lasted an hour and a half! How inconsiderate of our time!
I would not recommend this location to ANYONE. I hope other Himalayan salt rooms are are much more zen-like and enjoyable, but this experience has turned me off from any future attempts. If it wasn't for a $16 Groupon, I would have demanded the $65 refund!
