Good school. Everyone is friendly, the instructors are very knowledgeable. If you fail these courses it's because you chose to fail. Everyone is so supportive, available for tutoring and just making sure you grasp the information. Love all the staff's Mister Ray teacher's aide Jaime and all my teachers. Miss Trish...so stuff could be better

Darlene Richardson

The woman in the front at the nursery Rd. Site is very nasty. They are very unprofessional. I know it's a school, but really. I came for a massage today and was told oh the students started late and by the time we start your massage it will be after the time they have to leave the building. What a crock of trash.

I'm (BSOM) alum. I had a rough go at things during my year there. However recently Gemini has been saving my life

Excellent school

I am extremely unhappy with how BSOM handles their potential customers. I had scheduled a massage on July 28th at 12:00pm for my fiance and I for his birthday in the beginning of July. I recieved a call from the school at 10:36am on the 28th stating they did not have enough students to cover all the appointments for my set time. I told the woman that called I had made the appointment almost a month ago, and asked why I was getting bumped as opposed to someone who made their appointment less then a week ago, because it was my impression, that it was a first come first serve agreement. And all I was told was they couldn't help me and she offered no resolution to the problem, not to mention the short notice of and hour and a half that I received. I find this very unprofessonal on both the faculty and students part... and I only hope the students that didnt show get reprimanded for their actions. But as far as the school goes, I wll tell all my friends and family that I once told BSOM was a geat place with great prices, that its definitly not worth the run around I received.

If you value your time, money, or sanity, I would stay as far away from this school as possible.

Dont waste your money!!! Go to another school. Frequent staff turnover which makes getting grades transcripts etc done impossible. dont get me wrong there are some AMAZING teachers and some horrible teachers but their hands are tied with horrible corse materials and scheduling. I took out loans and got a pell grant they never gave me the dispersment check. They said they disnt get it But the Fafsa website said tbey did. You will constantly get the run around. I gratuated 5 weeks ago still no transcripts and applied to take my MBLEX 6 weeks ago still havent been able to take it. ive called and stopped by and nothing helps.

I graduated from Cortiva’s Skin Care program this month and I have to say that Gemini with the Career Services Department is amazing! She is always helpful and you can tell that she genuinely cares about your career goals. Gemini is extremely responsive to my phone calls or emails, and she always greets you with a smile when you walk in her office. With the help of Gemini, I was able to secure a job offer immediately after graduating. It is nice to see someone who works so hard to help their students succeed.

I am getting ready to graduate BSOM (Cortiva), and I'm really happy that I chose this school to attend. All of the staff here are professional and extremely invested in their students, and there was always someone available to help me with any hurdle I was facing in school-or even out of school. I was facing issues in my personal life that were interfering with my school work. The Dean of Students, Amanda Kasden, went above and beyond to ensure that I still had the opportunity to succeed- she even looked up resources to help me both in and out of school. The support she gave me enabled me to keep my focus and graduate, and its something I have seen with other students as well. I also really appreciated the library. It had all of the resources i needed to do all of my assignments. It was quiet, had a huge assortment of books, and so many computers that I never once had to wait for one. When I felt that I could use some help academically I took advantage of the free tutoring that is always available to all students. I would recommend anyone who is considering a career in massage therapy or esthetics to consider BSOM. They have all of the resources you need right on campus, and the staff really cares- not only do they say that they are there to help, but they really stand behind it! If you are willing to put in the work, they will help you succeed!

Staff went out of their way to help me find a way to secure financing so I could attend. Above and beyond! Thanks again!

I've been in school for only 2 wks but I love it. Instructors are great.

Recent graduate of the massage program. They have an amazing staff and instructors that truly care and do everything in their power to make sure that you succeed. I have never felt so much love from another group of complete strangers before and I will never forget the people I met. Even if you start to stray from your progress they have on staff a lady with red hair and a pig that will get you back on track. Truly is an amazing place.

Rarely do I post reviews of anything, but the Baltimore School of Massage is the absolute worst institution of higher learning I have ever been to. The teachers barely know what they are talking about and the teachers who do leave. The staff is incompetent and unable to help solve the littlest problems. Helping you obtain licensure, especially out of state, is a joke. They are no help. If I could give the BSOM no stars I would. Luckily, there are other options for massage therapy school in Maryland now. I suggest you seek out another school to avoid wasting your money.

Great place my wife loves it

Billy Oaks

Thanks to Gemini at career services!

Scottie Washington

They treated me with great care

Mignion Faretta

Great place to receive inexpensive massage and esthetic services while helping future professionals learn and fine tune thier skills. I also attended and graduated from the massage program and compared to the education and modalities other programs offer this by far was much more comprehensive.

Tranise Allen

The Instructors really don't seem to care with the exception of a few. Ineta and Amy are awesome and they care about the students. Other courses ive had to do my own internet research and youtube techniques to better myself. They stress u about the paymemts and attendance though. The whole catch to get me in there was a supportive environment but that hasn't come from the staff at all. I haven't heard one one from my recruiter since she got me hooked in there. My fellow classmates have been the most supportive and helpful.

Tom Ebeling

Made an appointment almost two weeks in advance. Showed up on time, paid for services and was told to wait in a separate room with about 25 others and they would call my name. One by one everybody was called in until I was the only one in the room. They let me sit there for literally 45 minutes, no exaggeration before telling me that my student didn't show up for class, and that they would refund me. I also wanted to have a wax, which they offered but not complimentary. I understand that it is cheap for a reason, but it was flat out RIDICULOUS! Don't let someone wait an hour before telling them their appointment is cancelled. Word of advice, buy a massage on Groupon at an actual professional spa. I discovered its almost the same price.

Deidra Mills

As a student I found the staff and administration were always willing to assist me in my journey as a massage therapist. They made the learning interactive and practical so it could be applied to every day situations I would encounter as a therapist. The school promotes professionalism which extends to the students. I'm confident in my choice of schooling with Cortiva.

Jake Aldridge

My wife went here and graduated to become a very successful professional massage therapist. Would recommend!

Kristi West

It takes a month to even get an appointment. You wait and you go in with the person you scheduled a relaxing day with and they tell you, oh the girl that was supposed to do your massage went home sick so only one of you can get a massage and one has to wait. You couldn't call and tell me this? So yeah sitting in my car waiting for my boyfriend to get done because I was nice and let him go. Wonderful start to your day. Won't be going there again. Well never got to the first time...

kevin reuben

I went to school here for esthetics. BEFORE going to visit the school please do your research and make sure that this is the right career choice for you! If you do not already know you will have a job lined up, I wouldn't even bother going into this line of work.

Yazmin Mendez

Don't even waste your time or money going here. They only thing that care about is getting you enrolled and receiving payments from you. This school is a complete scam. The instructors barely know anything and there is no order in the classroom at all. For the amount of money that you pay everyone should receive a quality education and get their money's worth. The entire curriculum is mostly facials (when there is plenty of other options in esthetics/makeup that can be taught in lab) which you will get tired of doing as they train you to be a slave in clinic so they can make money off of you. In the lab you have broken mag lamps, products are low, and other equipment is broken. Once you get into class the lecture is mostly writing notes for 3 hrs straight with no through explanation of what's being written on the board. The staff are unprofessional, rude, lack empathy, and really could care less about a student's growth or well being for the time they are there. Some of the enrollment advisors (whatever you wanna call them since everyone has a title but really don't qualify for their role or understand their job) lie about certain things you will learn just to lure students in to make them think that it's going to happen. Honestly I learned more through my own research and on YouTube than anything. If you want a successful career and don't wanna feel like a name on an attendance roster please don't set yourself up for failure. I've never been this stressed before and disappointed within a school my entire life. It's frustrating when you want to learn and make the best out of your future career and you have to deal with a ghetto unprofessional school like BSOM. It's sad that you have to call corporate to get stuff done or let your voice be heard because no one cares at your own school. Because no one knows the correct answer to your concern and instead of being honest and telling you they don't know they feed you lied instead. They only thing they want to hear is that if you're paid in full, when you can make a payment, or when you can pay your $2.50 per hour for makeup time.

Aly McCue

I went to school here and have had many wonderful massages from the students. They are so talented and it is a great way to work with people from the community!

Milan Lopez

If you like to waste money, don’t wanna receive the proper education and tools you need to succeed please go here but if you have common sense please do not attend this school by any means. STAY FAR AWAY. The staff is a complete joke. They put on this fake persona that they really care about the students and has good intentions but it’s the complete opposite. They lie to students from the time you enroll to the moment you finish or attempt to. The bad reviews below are the HONEST 100% truth and from those who have experienced the same things from this school. The classroom setting reminds me of high school and the instructors barely have any book knowledge. If I didn’t know any better I would think each class is learning from a different textbook because when it comes to the basics of sanitation, basic facials, and more everyone is just doing their own thing when it should be on one accord especially in the student clinic. The staff is ghetto and have this superior attitude as if the students don’t have the right to be vocal or speak their mind pertaining this school especially when their investing their hard money and most importantly time. They can’t hold their own weight and just admit that they’re unorganized and the money you’re paying to go there as a student isn’t worth it.

I absolutely love being a student at the Cortiva Institute. Although it's an academic environment, it always feels like I'm working with and learning from one large family. Leo, Ms. Holly, Ray, and of course Hank have all worked actively to ensure that I was set up to succeed. I am sure I'm will have a lucrative career after graduation.

One of the highlights of going to this school has been the pleasure of meeting and working with, career services director, Gemini Sanford. From day one she was outstanding to say the least. She greeted me with an amazing smile, energy, determination, and will to find me a job in massage therapy. Gemini, does everything In her power to ensure her students careers are set in motion after graduation. She wrote a cover letter with me, called a hand and stone owner to let them know about me while speaking highly of me, and more. She was so available, caring, trustworthy, and extremely genuine. Her willingness to help is the sole reason I was able to land a job so quickly.

My experience at Cortiva has been noting but wonderful. The staff is super supportive and dedicated to their students. There has never been a time that I wasn’t able to get the additional help needed. I’ve received so much support from the staff and classmates during one of the roughest times of my life. I’m excited about my journey moving forward at Cortiva. Enrolling here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I’m thankful to be a student here.

Miss Tiki

I graduated from Cortiva Institute Skin Care Program, April of 2018. The 7 1/2 months shared with the staff and students was a life changing experience (for the better). Thankful for MY instructor Holly Rhodes, career AND student services staff!!!! BEST DECISION I MADE FOR MY FUTURE. <3

My experience at Cortiva was interesting to say the least. I learned plenty from the curriculum of course, but I learned even more about life itself from the instructors. Ed, Darla, and Eva specifically in my experience.. I learned so much just from watching them work and listening to them share their passion for not only massage therapy but also for helping others. The instructors were the best example of what a professional, honest, and passionate massage therapist is, and I'm grateful for their excitement and willingness to pass on their gifts and knowledge.

Tamer Raheeel

This school is really perfect place to start a career like body work and massage therapy,,,, it’s very organized, very kind helpful people all time ... I’m highly recommend cortiva Baltimore school.....

Denise Cutair

I attended Baltimore School of Massage in 2011. i was in the evening massage class for 1 year. We had a huge class. i still have 6 friend from that experience. We had wonderful instructors at that time. Anthony Hinkle was my mentor and 4 years ago, I was able to work for him at Tranquili-chi. Other instructors made lasting impressions on me too. i remember them fondly. i can still hear their voices on specific subjects when I am working with clients. i would recommend the massage program at Cortiva Institute. The instructors are dedicated to bringing the most current massage treatment modalities and information to the students. They are invested in the success of each student.

Stacey Swiney

Unfortunately, I didn't know of other options for massage schools when I started here at BSOM. There is no classroom control by staff, ignorant ,disruptive and disrespectful students taint the learning environment without consequence. I recommend you try another school!

meenu saini

This school just want your money and if you graduated somehow they won’t help you with anything.

Felicity White

I love our teachers ...they care about us

Sade Wade

I think your experience at this school will depend on who you get as an instructor. I am not going to point out any particular instructors but they truly make or break the program and how much you learn as you are leaving the program. The staff overall are pretty cool particularly Leo, Helen and Ken. However, if you are a working professional or very used to a professional environment you may find yourself at odds with some of the schools reasoning and decision making skills. Speaking of work professional the school doesn’t particularly cater to working professional that maybe be seeking a career change. Some of the services that they offer that they use to get you in the door are really only convenient for daytime learners. I appreciate the diversity in age of students though it gives you a chance meet an array of people and personalities. Overall if this is your only option you won’t have a terrible time especially if you have a great teacher but if it’s not your only option definitely spend sometime doing your research.

Kristin Bigouette

I was told that if I booked a massage I would get a facial for 1/2 price. When I got there the student and the teacher at the front desk were not friendly and they told us it was not half price. It didn’t seem like anyone knew what was going on. The massage was ok for the price. The instructors were extremely unprofessional!! Chaos, no organization. They put you in a waiting area with all of the students, it seemed more like a lunch room for the students than a wait area. The pricing is ridiculous. I would never pay that much again. I want my money and time back. Ugh. Needless to say I will not be returning!

amani allen

Cortiva is a great school to go to if you wanna get your massage license. The teachers help make learning the different subjects fun and with the way that I learn the hands on is perfect. The best thing is that you won’t learn anything that don’t apply to massage or skin care. Shout out to Mr. Leo and Mr. Hank that make sure that you have everything you need to be successful at cortiva institute

Jeffrey Whitttington

Financial aid will bully you into doing your financial aid that same day and sign up for classes even though you missed the first week of classes. They don't care. But they will let you slide till you graduate on any payments you had to pay and tell you you cant get your diploma and then blame you for not graduating because they take no responsibility. As long as they get their 10,000 in federal aid.You wont understand a word that the FA supervisor says when explaining loans because of her heavy accent. She throws papers at you. You dont have to report amounts if you are on Social Security yet they make you tell them.

Kenny Tribett

Knowing someone who has not only attended, graduated but also worked at this facility for quite some time, I must say beware. Unethical business practices of the past has resulted in changes of staff, management and a general confusion and lack of understanding or motivation among the staff. This place will not be around much longer. Spend your time somewhere more positive

Myasia Moore

My experience has been great at Cortiva, my teacher works hard for her students to ensure we are learning the techniques and the materials needed to become licensed estheticians. The Enrollment specialist Leo is great, he is very interactive with all the students he’s a great supporter to ensure or success!

Aimee Wentling

Biggest waste of my time and money. I suggest seeking out a different school or an actual college before you become disappointed. Lots of complaints by other students and the staff are lazy who only care about themselves and the money.

Isaiah King

Jamira is a great employee at Cortiva she is ready to always greet you with a Welcoming Smile in the morning. Ready to go above and beyond to help you with whatever you need no matter the time of the day .

Victoria Nellen

AVOID THIS SCHOOL AT ALL COSTS!!! The employees are EXTREMELY unprofessional, and they allow students to act like animals even though they're "all about professionalism". The whole school was a mess, we went through three different groups of career services employees in the course of 7 months, there was also a period where there was NO career services at all. We were also supposed to have mock interviews with real professionals, and career services never set it up and did not tell the instructors, so we were in class waiting to do these mock interviews only to find out half way through the first half of the day we were not having them. When you graduate, after 6-9 months expect to be called nonstop, and if you gave them anyone else's phone numbers expect them to be called constantly. AND when you don't answer their calls, they will show up to your house!!! pure harassment. They don't wanna help you get a job, all they want from you is to tell them you have a job so that they can keep their accreditation. I've been told by people that there are certain places that will not hire estheticians who went to this school. I graduated 9 months ago and still don't have a job.

Rebecca Poole

My experience with one of their students has been amazing. They were helpful in getting her license and have taught her amazing techniques.

K K

I personally would never recommend if you are a working professional or want to work with professional staff and students. All around bad experience, and thankful I got just barely enough of an education to go out into the industry.

lakiaria J

Its sad because people like myself want a great place to go to obtain education without feeling like I walked on the block im from the inner city /POVERTY neighborhood s but its not where your from its whom you are. This school Is tacky", low budget ,distasteful EVEN THE FINANCIAL AID ADVISOR FAT !@#$ WAS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I ADVISE YOU TO SAVE UP YOUR MONEY TO PAY FOR YOUR EDUCATION AT A MORE REPUTABLE professional ENVIRONMENT LIKE CHESAPEAKE OR VONLEE FOR SKIN CARE. And for massage institutes look for great establishment s like college's etc. Maybe they should get New Management, keep the descent staff and start fresh with others like the rude advisor .

As a current student of Cortiva in Baltimore, i feel it's a great school for skincare and massage, not only do they focus on the curriculum but also life values and what kind of attitude will help you in the long run. I feel confident i will leave here ready to conquer the industry. Overall I'm happy about my decision.

Carrington Saunders

I am currently a student at Cortiva and I love it, the staff and teachers are passionate about massage and provide a great environment to study and progress in massage therapy

Pennie Palmer

This school is the best. Instructors are very helpful and are great at sharing knowledge. Mr. Leo and miss patricia are great at informing sharing and showing new students around and enrolling i felt very comfortable and every question answered.

Tiera Simmons

Cortiva is a great place to learn esthetics. Looking for a career as an esthetician come here. My experience has been pleasant. Leo the enrollment specialist is awesome.

Njun Ear

Web site gives address, called school, confirmed address, went to address on web site as confirmed, no school. How inconsiderate can an organization be? I cut short a productive meeting to go on a wild goose chase. Take your business elsewhere.

Claire Lyrics

I’m going here for Skin Care I love we went right into the hands on learning with the facials ! I’ve meet some amazing people & the instructors are awesome. Especially Ari I love how positive and knowledgeable she is! Leo helped me get enrolled and helped me find a carpool to get to school which was very kind!!! If you are looking to get licensed this is a good environment! Just come with a positive mind and leave negativity at home

Lala Mars

i started this program is jan of 2017 , and i graduate this year December(17) i decided to do evening classes because i work a full-time job . i'm half way through this program and as a current student i HIGHLY SUGGEST you do NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL , they are beyond unprofessional , they treat people accordingly to who they want to . iIve had to call corporate MULTIPLE times because i dont feel as if i'm getting my moneys worth of education and its very frustrating , the classes are too big . and the people here aren't HALF as serious about the program , the teachers aren't so enthusiastic either .

Thy Ma

This was my first time going to the BSOM with my mom for her birthday gift. Upon arrival the two morbidly obese women working at the desk did not greet us or assisted us with anything until we had asked them. They then told us to fill out this paperwork that was in front of us like we had been there before. When we finished we were told to go wait in a classroom for the student to come out and take us back. We waited half an hour past our scheduled appointment time before we were even seen. The massage was mediocre which was expected because these were students. The environment was one big classroom separated by hospital curtains with some tranquil music in the background. After the massage, we were supposed to have a facial but since there was a delay in our massages it caused us to miss our facial appointments and they then told us that we could get a refund since there was nothing they could do about it or offer anything. I just find it ridiculous that if they had known that we were getting massages and facials, I don't understand why they couldn't have taken us back for our facials first since the facial clinic closes earlier. This place needs to stop overbooking and train their staff on customer service and professionalism. I will never come back here for a massage or facial because of this. So unless you are that cheap to pay for a massage and like to deal with rude people then go here. If not go somewhere else where there are better staff, therapists and atmosphere.

Vanessa Boyd

I really enjoyed my massage by Dawn..Kudos to you Dawn

Brianna Hopkins

I love getting massages at BSM, but It isn't easy making an appointment. My massage is always wonderful.

John Colein

This school is awesome! I really appreciate the awesome staff. Special shout out to Mr. Hank, miss Jay, and miss Trish! They always make me feel special by greeting me by name. The teachers are always so willing to help if you are struggling. Overall, this is a great place to learn and grow and be a part of a family!

Volanta Smith

Very disappointed. I booked an appt a week and a half prior. When the appt was made I requested a morning appt for a facial and massage but the young lady I spoke with informed me that there were only afternoon appts. After getting here I was told I could not get a massage due to orientation.... Not to mention there's a picture of water in the waiting room but no cups available. The lady at the front desk has no knowledge of Anything pertaining to the facility. Not to mention the guy sitting beside her texting the entire time. VERY DISAPPOINTING AND DON'T KNOW IF I'LL RETURN.

It was a good experience, the staff was helpful and friendly.

I hate this school ready to quit it isnt what they made it up to be false advertisement that is against the law.

TAWANA FREEMAN

Great school. Everyone is friendly, the instructors are very knowledgeable. If you fail these courses it's because you chose to fail. Everyone is so supportive, available for tutoring and just making sure you grasp the information. Love it.

Darrion Davis

My experience as been an easy flow through being with my class mates who has become a big part in my life and T.A such as Mr.Edward and Jaime but without the help from the front desk receptionist team jamira & markia and student services Gemini and Mariam

Sarah Shird

If it hadn’t been for mr.ray and me.helen I would have procrastinated starting the esthetics program , so far so good they have helped me so much already . I believe that they truly care about our education and want us to be successful in our careers .

Kris Randolph

In school now for massage therapy, and I am extremely satisfied with the program! I plan on coming back to become an esthetician as well. I definitely recommend this school for anyone going into massage or esthetics

Monet Spencer

For me the staff and some of my classmates definitely made my experience at Cortiva a great one. At the Baltimore campus instructors like Kelly, Sarah H, Sarah B, Jamie, Ms. Ineta, and Mr. Ed really show how much they care about the students, they’ll go above and beyond for you if you show that you’re trying. Most of the administration do a pretty go job of helping as well. The program is what you make it everywhere you go there will be pros and cons just make sure you ask all of the appropriate questions and everything you want to know before entering the program so there won’t be any surprises.

Caitlin Domon

I've been getting massages and facials there for a few years. Everyone is so sweet and does a great job. Sometimes there is a long wait, but as it is a school, this is expected.

Glad I read the reviews first. Everyone was nice until I changed my mind and then the true colors of this institute came out of the staff.got hung up on and during the visit I was being pushed to start classes right away..the price tag is 17 grand and the overwhelming 1 star reviews speak volumes on how it’s really not worth the bill

Letitia Cosby

I'm baaaaaaaack for the Massage Program. I got my ESTHETICIAN license in July, so I will be dual licensed come this time 2019. Ms. Denise is AWESOME, I can't wait to learn more!!!

chantell gillespie

My life has changed because of this school and the staff, namely, Michelle Whitley, who worked diligently to go above and beyond to help me learn and excel above any goal I have ever set for myself. From the first day, they have instilled confidence in me that I would have never reached for. After graduation, I took the MBLex test and failed. I was faced with overwhelming disappointment. My confidence plummeted. I gave up! I felt I would never be able to pass the test. Shana Bousquet called me and encouraged me to come down to the school to see what we could do to help me get back on track. Not only did she take the time to get me hooked up with tutoring, but she pushed me to accept that I could pass the test and knew the material. As I type this review, I am now Licensed and have passed all testing criteria required! I am a LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST! I am proud of where I am and looking forward to where I am going. Thank you Cortiva Institute for making this possible.

i love the school the school the staff is great everyone here is very nice an they cater to any needs u have they try to make sure that they work with all situations

Breanna Marshall

Currently sitting in the office for anytype of service . The receptionist continues to ignore me when i ask for the next available spot with no compassion . Ive been here for the past hour !

Esrella Brown

The massage therapy program is great and the teachers are wonderful! Everyone is like family!

rrrsmile .

Wow....I am shocked to see these reviews. I attend the York Campus (quickly approaching 6 month mark) and my experience has been vastly different. I would suggest as a student you will need to emmerse yourself....the class room isn't the only place to learn. Make sure your hands and eyes touch massage daily beyond your classroom experience. Good luck fi ding the correct path.
