The massage would get a 1 or 2, I boosted the rating to a 3 star due to the ease of scheduling & the politeness of the office staff. I had a 60 min graduate massage that did not address the one problem/concern area that I had. Instead, she found some “knots” in my shoulder area & spent the bulk of the time there. I never said anything about needing my upper back/shoulders worked on...my lower back was in pain from a tightened up I.t. band and hamstring (I’m a runner & this is a common problem). I pointed this out to her before the massage, but she seemed so intent on getting things started (she was a few min behind my 3:30 appointment, which didn’t bother me as much as her not taking the time to listen to me), needless to say the pain was worse as she moved the knots down further. I limped in, limped out & by bedtime I could barely walk, bend over or move! If you don’t know the masseuse you are scheduled with, then beware, it’s hit or miss. Phyllis was the masseuse I had.

I had a 60 minute deep tissue massage with Lindsey (professional), who was absolutely AMAZING. I had some serious tightness and discomfort in my upper right back/shoulder/neck area, and Lindsey took her time to work thoroughly through the area until it felt comfortable enough to move on to the left side. The massage was so wonderful and skilled that I stopped at checkout afterward, and made an additional tip to Lindsey. I cannot wait to return!

I have been coming here for years for massage services, and will continue to do so. The fact that you can choose based on the level of experience is awesome, and a great way for students to really learn hands on and get some good feedback. I usually pick a professional, but that's just because I'm particular with deep tissue massage, although letting a student work on me isn't out of the picture. Prices are great, and without the fluff I need from a spa, still just beyond relaxing! Been meaning to try their yoga studio too, heard awesome things!

This was the absolute worst experience that I have ever experienced in any public setting by far. I have been coming to this massage clinic since 2012 and I had always enjoyed my experience, so I didn’t think twice about scheduling a massage here. Upon arrival I was asked to pay and I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip for the massage therapist and I was definitely thrown back. I was confused because I didn’t know this therapist and I wasn’t sure how the massage would go. I stated that I would rather pay and tip at the end because I wasn’t sure how much I would like to tip. I was told that I could pay now and tip at the end but it would be two separate charges and that I could not just pay it all at the end. I was so confused because this had never been an issue before. So I just went ahead and paid the basic 20% tip which if I had like the therapist I would have paid more, but whatever. So then I was looking at the candles when the therapist Erin came out to get me, she said my name twice I believe, but she spoke so softly that I could barely hear her, I asked if she said my name and she looked at me super strange. And she said my name again I said yes that’s me. Her demeanor was so weird but she took me back. Then she told me to go into the 3rd room to the right and I went into the 3rd room to the left...oops ok that was my mistake. She acted like I had committed a crime. And she repeated the third room to the right, I was like I’m sorry. Then we made it in to the room and sat down, I was having trouble getting my phone on silent because the buttons stick from the case. I said sorry I was trying to put my phone on silent and then she looked at me and held her hands over my legs and said in the most condescending, patronizing voice are you ok? Have you been drinking or did you take something? I was like no, what the heck? Of coarse not. I am tired and I have been working a lot but absolutely not. And then after speaking with me she realized there was nothing wrong with me. But she had straight out excused me of being under the influence without even speaking to me for more than a minute. This was one the most embarrassing, mortifying and humiliating experiences of my life. First off, I was completely sober, I rarely drink and I don’t take drugs!!!! I just went into the wrong room, I’ve always been directionally challenged and I was tired and had just came to relax. I’m pretty sure that’s no reason to accuse someone of this. The way she had spoke to me, was like I was a child, and made me feel so small like a bug underneath her feet. I felt so angry and my feelings were hurt deeply. Once I began to cry she apologized and explained she didn’t realize I was tired and that I had been working a lot, well of coarse she didn’t, she hadn’t even began to really speak to me. She became upset because her apology wasn’t enough to make me happy enough to go along with the massage and I was too upset to get up and leave. She kept saying I’ve apologized and there is nothing else I can do. I was like I’m not asking you to do anything I just want to calm down before I leave so that I’m not driving upset. I asked to speak to her supervisor and I explained the situation to her. The supervisor was very apologetic and sympathetic. I told her that I will not be back and I will not. I have never been treated this way before and I will refuse to tolerate such lack of respectfulness. I can understand if I was actually under the influence but this was not the case whatsoever and to accuse me of such was the most belittling. After this happened even the supervisor was offering to give me a massage. I could not accept, my trust was gone. I went to the healing arts academy to relax and get a massage after working many hard days with long hours. I came to them for help and they just made my night and week worse. I would not recommend the massage therapist Erin, she is a graduate and is inexperienced in social and professional communication. This was unacceptable and no apology can undo what has been done. This therapist needs more training.

This place is great. I needed a shoulder and neck massage because I was having terrible tension headaches. I could only get a thirty minute massage b/c of the appointments for that day, but that was really all I needed. I left feeling much better and more relaxed. The atmosphere of relaxation begins in the lobby, with incense and soft music. Everyone was kind and professional. I have already recommended LHAA to others.

I have been to LHAA before and had a great experience but didn't feel this time was as good in two ways. One I paid for 60 min but I received 45 min due to waiting on the therapist to enter and get started and then stopping a few minutes early. Then shortly after the message my neck ached really bad in the area of the message. Just did not get a good feeling from my experience.

In preparation for the massage, she suggested that I disrobe to my comfort level. I really appreciated that. She asked about what I was expecting from the massage. Did I want it just for relaxation or deep muscle type therapy. I was very pleased with the amount of pressure applied during the massage. I was very relaxed and not ready for it to end when the time was up. I have scheduled another appointment with this young lady.

Shallen is awesome. She is one of the graduate massage therapist. I do a 90 minute once a month with her and I have noticed a huge difference in my lower back pain and my overall flexibility. Facility is very clean, welcoming, and provides a calming atmosphere. She will listen to your concerns and come up with a plan to address your issues. In terms of relaxing, she is great on reading cues on whether or not you want to be silent or talk during your massage. I have been to people in the past that did not pick up on my preferences but she is knowledgeable about her profession and she is socially aware which is great. I will continue to schedule appointments with her.
