Not really shops per se being that there aren't many clothing stores or retail for that matter. It does have a Bertucci's restaurant, but that is about as good as it gets for this establishment unless you are in need of household items at CVS.

Nice little hidden mall from the street view, you wouldn't even know it existed unless you walk into the sidewalk sign (which I almost did). If the goal of this mall was to disappear, they've done a pretty high-fiveable job. I guess you just have to be a local resident to know. I did walk in on a Sunday and I first thought it was one of those abandoned malls, because nearly every store was empty or closed for the day. There are a 3 levels and the inside is very quaint. There are two bakeries and a CVS and a couple chain restaurants. Be warned, you might need help finding this place. Ask a local or bring one of those night vision goggles.

Wow. This place should be shut down or be inspected more often. I have a terrible experience every time I go to this place, Paul cafe on 2000Pennsylvania Ave. DC. I ordered a mozzarella veggie sandwich, my first bite into my sandwich I felt a piece of hard foreign object between my teeth. When I spitted out I saw a piece of broken white hard plastic. When showed it to the manager he was not that surprised. He offered to replace it, but it doesn't change any thing. I will never go to Paul again. If you are buying any food from this place make sure to inspect what is in it before putting it in your mouth.

Oh I love this store! Okay, so it's odd that it is split up between two different sides of 2000 Penn. And, okay, the sales staff won't wow you with unbelievable friendliness, although if you have a question or need help they will help. They don't just ignore you at least. But what keeps me going back - to the point that I have banned myself from the store because my budget can't take any more for a while - are the cute dresses and jewelry. Love them! I wish they would have more of each item (once a size is gone, forget getting any more). I've gotten cute metal flower rings on sale for $10 a piece. And some very cute dresses for $75-50 - dresses that are different from the chain stores that make up most of DC. Tired of walking down the street and being able to recognize where most of the outfits you see on the street came from? Go to Expressions. The clothes aren't crazy or weird. They are hip and sometimes very classic styles (at least the dresses and coats are) but they are a different alternative to the same old boring Ann Taylor and Loft that I am so tired of seeing on everyone. Anyway I digress. The stores has cute styles that aren't very expensive. If that sounds good enough to you then go check it out.

This place conceals a unique array of shops like Paul, CVS, a florist, and others you'd never know were in here. I've walked by so many times, and had no idea all these shops were inside. I decided to check it out today, but the first thing I noticed was the overwhelming smell of bleach throughout the entire area. It was because of the strong bleach smell that I made a quick loop around and got out of there.

Cool place. First visit. Went to Captain Cookie. Simple menu and choices. Will satisfy your milk and cookie addictions. Tried the cookie of the day: lemon pepper. Loved it. Not too sweet with a little spice with the first bite; tasted the lemon and the pepper kicked at the end at the back of the throat. Want to go back to check out the chocolatier and the dumpling kiosk.

This renovated building contains several cafes, restaurants and assorted stores. Pro Photo is one of the last remaining camera stores in DC. Bindaas is a relatively new, casual Indian restaurant. PAUL has a place here - they're all over but they're still pretty good. Captain Cookie is here, they have cookies, ice cream and milkshakes. One of the last Bertucci's is here. There's a tiny dumpling place inside - you can't see it at all from the street. And there's a handy drugstore in the basement. Unfortunately, the top floor is completely empty right now.
