REVIEWS OF The Gateway IN Utah

Sharon Roberts

Gateway mall is great in the spring and summer but once it gets cold, its not a cool place to shop. Its neat and has a garage for parking except no cash only card so be prepared to pay with your debit/credit card.

dano martinez

I love their slice of the day with a salad. Great lunch meal with a great price, and always fast

Albie Hamilton

The gateway has improved significantly under new ownership. There are cool/trendy outdoor areas that are kid friendly. Wiseguys is an incredible comedy venue for a city of Salt Lake's size.

Brian Blodgett

Still a nice venue and great member of the community. Somehow had received a bad rap since City Creek opened. It's clean and organized. Needs more patrons. Go visit!

Bronson Cornilles

Chill outdoor mall. Anchor stores do alright but the smaller ones seem to come and go out of business quickly. They have electric scooters that make it fun to get around. Parking is between free and 4$ for many hours. Lots of cool art and pride here.

Matt W

Very cool layout but the shops are dying off there. Many of the shops were closed down. It is nothing like it was back in 2008. There is some pretty good food there especially the Brazilian buffet (can't remember the name). WARNING, there are a ton of homeless in this general area as well as a rather high crime rate around there too.

Heather Peterson

This is one of our favorite places to go when we need to get out of the house and want to learn! The activities are perfect for almost any age and if you have a kid like mine who loves space it perfect.

Bonnie Schamber

Nice convenient location for walking and movie. Need to replace shops that moved to City Creek Mall. Labarba coffee shop the best and people so nice!

Laura Weis

We went to a grand child's birthday at one of the venues. Although it is huge, and spectacular, parking was in a garage and since we are handicapped, it was a long walk.

Heather Paul

Had a great day. Wish more places were open on Sunday but we still had a great time with the places that were open. Favorite was definitely the planetarium.

Kent Byington

It's making efforts to get back to the once thriving outdoor mall that It was twenty years ago!! Slowly getting there, It's not the scary place in town that people think it is*** Get out and enjoy it folks

Mara James

The gateway mall has made a ton of improvements. They now have outdoor swings, tester toter, and other free things outside for the kids to play on. They have a good selection of food pizza, salad, tacos, sit down restaurants, fast food, and food to go. They also have underground parking that is free for the first hour which is nice. The one complaint would be the selection of shops, we typically visit for the pop up art exhibits but it would be nice to get some better stores for shopping.

Cy DaOneNOnly

The Olympics water fountain is really cool. Also the big LED TV screen on the clock tower.

Sierra M Southwick

The swings there may have been the best part! Tocano's was amazing as well :) we stayed for probably half an hour to play on the swings. Such a clean and inviting space.

Lee Tibbitts

Love this place. Kinda run down, getting better with all the remodels and patio they have added. Splash pad is nice for the kids

Angie Lane

We always have so much fun every time we go here. There are always fun things to see and it has a really nice atmosphere. Very well maintained. They host some very fun concerts and events as well

Nelson Knight

The Gateway definitely went through it's rise and eventual fall. For a while the place was only worth a visit for the 2002 Olympic Legacy fountain for the kids to splash around and the Megaplex for a movie. That became uncomfortable as the entire neighborhood became sketchy. New owners are making lots of improvements - no longer a mall - and the place is becoming much more lively. Gateway security staff are much more vigilant and visible. Looking forward to seeing more improvements - but PLEASE change the design of the proposed hotel. The current plan is awful.

Skylar Marine

One of the coolest outdoor mall designs I've ever seen. Not the center of downtown but still convenient and they host a lot of cool events.

James Longstaff

The gateway offers a walkable space between shops and activities. This is a great space. I love this place especially in the summer. I love walking around it. There are plenty of activities to do here as well as food to eat. There is also a splash pad for kids.

Marty kolz

Pourto Rican festival. Lost of good food, cool stores and fun adventure

James Rieth

Not the easiest to find what I'm looking for, but definitely love the outdoor style shopping hub. Parking wasn't horrible and there were definitely people put enjoying their day. Not bad at all.

Melanie Buchanan

It is so sad to see this wonderful place empty. I use to love taking my kids here to play, shop and eat. It was basically a full day affair. I do like coming still to the Urban Flea Market once a month. I hope the Gateway comes back to life again!

Gabrielle J

I love this area. So many great things to do all days of the week. Always clean and beautiful scenery.

Chris Roberts

Food, shopping, relaxing, group hang outs, or whatever you're looking for this place has it! Gateway has been around for a long time and has lost its popularity, but is still one of the best places to visit in the Salt Lake valley! it is much cleaner than it used to be a couple years ago and has really turned around! Anytime you come here there is always a social event going, concerts, food trucks, water fountains, and amazing comfy fires in the winter. Highly recommend!

Cameron Emry

Saddly the place is empty. Blows my mind a place that big only has 5 stores and the rest is empty.

Emily Roncancio

Move the barricades before the fireworks instead of shunting people at the last second. Also it would be soooo wise if you didn't stick umbrellas in the middle of throwing games. That's kinda stupid. Did you hit the vodkas early planners? (edit) The best part was after listening to them move us twice in the middle of the show they told us to move again. There was another group sitting next to us that they did not ask to move. So shady.

Special K

Great spot to skate and beautiful outdoor mall especially at night. Fun to skate/longboard lime, or whatever you prefer, around the 1st floor. The theatre is great and I recommend checking out the fountain on the North end of the mall and the candy store next to it.

Megan Boren

We went on the one day a year that it does free admission and it was packed! But still very fun! The bee room is such a blast and the water works and the little "village" behind it were so fun. Kept our kids of many ages entertained for hours!!! The Lego area and the helicopter outside were my kids particular favorites! Lots to do and entertain young minds! I believe they do parties as well.

brother and bros

Love this unique little downtown mall.

Sharon Roberts

Gateway mall is great in the spring and summer but once it gets cold, its not a cool place to shop. Its neat and has a garage for parking except no cash only card so be prepared to pay with your debit/credit card.

Ernie Knox

Easy to access from trax. Handicap friendly.

Michael

It's ok with my favorite store being Barnes and Noble. Outside of that, they Gateway only offers so much. It may well be other folks cup of tea, though.

dano martinez

John Lemish

I saw goat yoga here... and people paying for it

Bonnie Schamber

Nice convenient location for walking and movie. Need to replace shops that moved to City Creek Mall. Labarba coffee shop the best and people so nice!

Scott Smith

We have attended a couple of festivals there and see how they are improving The Gateway to be family friendly and convenient. Love the Italian Festival and also New Years Eve, even though it was freezing.

Julia S

Dave and Buster's is a great date night, family night, girls night, or game night location. Great food and service was top notch.

Martin Erickson

The gateway lost alot of popularity in the past but it is coming back with vengeance! They have been supporting alot of art and that is refreshing.

Natasha Haslam

A once-dilapidated outdoor mall, the Gateway has rebranded as a fun, clean, lively adventure location. It's great for corporate outings, friends hitting the town, date night, or a family fun day. There's always something to do. Be prepared to pay for parking and be careful of travelling through the Gateway alone in the evening.

Jacqueline Smith

Went to The Store here. Great place to get groceries downtown. And they carry my favorite bar...E3 Energy Cubes

Laura Weis

We went to a grand child's birthday at one of the venues. Although it is huge, and spectacular, parking was in a garage and since we are handicapped, it was a long walk.

Sunny Crane

Horrible experience! My friend's food smelled like it had spoiled. The manager came and apologized and was great! That was the only positive thing about the experience. The waitress never came and checked to see if we needed refills or anything, not once the entire time. When we were ready to leave we tried getting the attention of another waitress and she completely ignored us. My friend said, "Excuse mam" like 4 or 5 times and the waitress completely ignored us. We were the only customers left and were treated horribly! After the spoiled food accident, CPK still charged my friend for her Coke. I think that could've been comped, especially because her food was bad. Never want to go back again!

Heather Paul

Had a great day. Wish more places were open on Sunday but we still had a great time with the places that were open. Favorite was definitely the planetarium.

Mostly vacant. Restaurants were basic chain restaurants and there were very few stores open. The public spaces were creative and nice to use.

Mara James

Love this place. Kinda run down, getting better with all the remodels and patio they have added. Splash pad is nice for the kids

Andrew Monette

Very friendly staff and great art pieces. The staple of this installation is that each piece is made up of repurposed items that would have been thrown away otherwise. It is really interesting to see how common items can be remade into compelling art pieces. Be warned, it can get quite dark and there are some flashing lights. This can be problematic if you plan to take photos, however the lighting and setting is perfect for couples.

Nelson Knight

Needs more stores, has food variety but after you eat there isn't much to do. Nice place to relax or go to the movies.

James Longstaff

The gateway offers a walkable space between shops and activities. This is a great space. I love this place especially in the summer. I love walking around it. There are plenty of activities to do here as well as food to eat. There is also a splash pad for kids.

Stuard Nelson

Nice area with a small trail/park. Nestled at the center of activity in town.

Josh Nguyen

Fun little gem in salt lake. It’s been less busy since the opening of city creek, but I still enjoy it. Great outdoor space too

Marty kolz

Pourto Rican festival. Lost of good food, cool stores and fun adventure

Tons and tons and tons of shops to go to you could get lost at with all the stores there are keep your wallet at home or you will spend all your money this is probably the best mall ever if not for shopping just to look around and browse I would highly recommendCome in here bring the family it is great

Mike Secor

Well this is a fun place to go and see there is a lot going on here several restaurants stores a planetarium and all kinds of parking garage I have taken my grandkids here and just spent hours having fun there is a lot to do a lot to see and it seems like there is a lot more room there for even more vendors

Dean Brandon

Ok its really improving with the homless population moving out of the area lots of new businesses coming in

Spencer Stevens

This place really is coming back! ❤️ They've installed swings, teeter-totters, and all kinds of cool decor & art! Also, they're doing a great job of attracting new businesses and keeping some there as well who have been there a while. City Creek has a bunch of fancy stores, and while Gateway does too, I like their more down to earth, affordable selection for potential customers. Also, they have a better restaurant setting than City Creek, in my opinion. Give Gateway a try, especially on a weekend night. You'll definitely be pleasantly surprised at what you discover there...

Karen People

Greatly improved from the last time I was here a couple years ago. Lots of cool shops and even some bars!

Aly

The gateway is still a really nice place to walk around and hang out. Unfortunately, all the good stores went out a while ago and the shopping is practically non existent now. Hopefully, they will start to get some stores back in.

Rosalia Paz Astorga

I visited Clark planetarium today. I loved it! Very educational.

Aki Malaeulu

We love the gateway mall! We came to eat at Tuscano’s, which we loved. There are security officers walking all around so you feel safe. I love that there are little playgrounds & sitting areas for you to enjoy while you wait for your table or to just relax after a great meal! Our family from Hawaii loves this mall. ❤️

Michelle Boulton

I LOVE concerts at The Depot! The bartenders are super fast and it's always a good time here!

Richard Nance

Clarke Planetarium is my son's favorite place on Earth. We like it too just not having to leave as Son gets upset to be away from his planets.

Da Real Now

Nice outdoor mall. Not as many stores. But good food options and child activity locations.

Steven D

I really like the outdoor environment. Except when you’re carrying a bunch of bags in the heat.

McKay Lenker

The gateway is so fun! I love how they are supporting local art

Bruce Spring

Second time catering a wrestling event at Gateway with "Those Guys" catering. It was awesome! Jonathan, and the rest of the staff are the greatest. Thanks for supporting us. Cannot wait to see you all again on the 24th of August, for more wrestling.

Ryan Jolley

Exciting things are happening here... Dave & Busters, Punch Bowl Social, Chedda Burger, The Store (grocery store)

Courtney Mabey

I went to Dave and Busters at the Gateway to celebrate my 21st birthday. It was a lot of fun, and the service there for food was great!

ryan allen

The Gateway finally has the right owners and management to make this a gem for SLC! They have done what multiple other owners haven't been able to, and are attracting greatt shops, entertainment and businesses to The Gateway. It's a fun and inviting place to visit. We had gotten to where we had avoided going there before they came in and cleaned it up, and now we look forward to going there. Art is all over the place and it's a fun visit as a whole every time. If you haven't been in a while, go give it a chance again, it's great now!

Jessica Capitan

Despite their loss of stores.. my nephews and I enjoy scrolling the Gateway at night. The art and watering holes make it a fun time in the summer. Plus their 4th of July firework show is beautiful!

Monica Jorgensen

I love that it’s getting more adult night life, and the Mormon peeps can stay at City creek! It’s nice going somewhere and not feeling like your in Utah! The people are fun an amazing and have open minds to all different people and not pushy about there ideals. Have a drink!

Marc Schaefermeyer

It's changed a lot over the years. It has a more upscale vibe. I'm getting older and don't go "hangout at the mall" anymore but, I can see why some people would go wander around. If you have some time to spend before a Jazz game or concert, go walk around and see what's there.

Paul

They really stepped up over the years. Lots of nice furniture to sit on while shopping and by the movie theaters. City Creek used to be my favorite. Now The Gateway has shown that it can compete and offer a nice selection of shops and environment.

Shannon Schritter

This poor mall needs you. I enjoy going here. Not to crowded. Cool architecture and great art throughout. Kids love the massive fountain and great seating area. Check out the cool train station too while you are there. Clark planetarium and discovery museum will entertain your family all day and some too.

Zachary Morrill

The festival's they have are fun. D&B is dumb. Thanks Utah law

Michael Hales

Awesome work in progress. Love The Store, perfect neighborhood maket.

David Johnson

The splash pad is a lot of fun for the littles. The water jets are weak enough fir babies to enjoy too. Plenty of places to sit on rocks or the fake grass. Could use more trees or canopies for shade though

Janelle C

It's still growing,I can't wait to see it when it's artsy and booming! GREAT food here though! Midici pizza, Dave and Buster's, Bout time are faves. Also free 2 hour parking which is so hard to find in slc!

Solana TenHagen

My kids and I love going to the Gateway. There is so much to see and do for all ages, whether as a family or on your own. We love the splash pad, planetarium and discovery gateway.

Tristan

The gateway is one of the best places in salt lake City! You can walk around all day and keep discovering new shops and cool places to sit and chill with friends! With summer here is full effect this place is just amazing! Don't wait check it out today

Dylan Walker

You can tell they're working to make this a better place, but they're still lacking a lot of shops to make it worth visiting.

Whitney stanton

Cool location and the artwork is worth driving over there to see! I love that they’ve added so many beautiful art pieces!!!

陳瑞文

Food is a bit pricey there can't get a meal for under $9. No regular fast food restaurants to choose from. Other than that, it's not bad.

David Jackson

The mall itself has a cool location in the heart of Downtown Salt Lake City but all of the good stores have moved to another mall that is more popular. This mall is currently undergoing some major renovations so it will hopefully attract better tenants in the future. There also is a large amount of homeless people that gather near the area around the mall so it doesn't always feel safe.

Jeremy Coffin

Kids had a ball at the discovery center. I was surprised to see a helicopter on the roof for everyone to climb in. There was plenty for my kids to climb in and easily spend the day

Brenda Lee Hansen

Fun downtown shopping. So much better than I remembered it.

Nick Muir

Shops are good, Wiseguys is awesome as always. The mixed use concept of the new owners is brilliant. It's a shame that SLC has become overrun by homeless and rental scooters.

Brad Nielson

It's o.k.... high-priced and trendy... I'm over it.... They keep trying to reinvent it & get people to shop there again... Here's an idea, put stores in their that people can afford to shop at:-)

Haider Ali

They have upped their game in recent months with many new additions. It's a great alternative to the popular city creek mall.

RobertT Anderton

Gateway early in the morning is well lit and surprisingly comfortable with plenty of security personnel to assist you.

Wess Lancaster

Walked the entire thing bored. They had several works of art around the buildings which was kind of cool, but didn't pique our interest much. They also had 3 different art exhibits for some reason? We only went into one store, left disappointed and bored. The sweet taco place looks promising, but wasn't open yet.

Luis Garcia

I personally love the remodel of The Gateway. It has an inviting atmosphere and with Operation Rio Grande, there are less homeless people walking around. They need more businesses but besides that, my go-to hangout spot in Salt Lake.

Spencer Stevens

This place really is coming back! ❤️ They've installed swings, teeter-totters, and all kinds of cool decor & art! Kelly Daniels

Outdoor mall, nice open-air spaces. Great alternative to the City Creek Mall.

Michelle Frederickson Jensen

One word Empty. Such a great place with so much potential retail has pulled out everywhere. Megaplex and a few food places hold it there. They need to do something with the surrounding areas so that it doesn't become an empty nothing...

An amazing Mall. Unbelievable selection of stores and shops. Very open and inviting. Great place to go to be with friends and family..

Alisha Chugg

I like the stores here. The shops have an overall high standard of quality.

Eric Williams

I was here the other day trying to go to my favorite store, Rocket Fizz, as I do every morning. However, this morning was a morning unlike any other. There was droves of people out in front of the store! It took me about 2 hours to realize that this was not the line for the morning opening of Rocket Fizz, but rather a concert for a man named "Kanyay West." Well since I couldn't get in the door for my daily usual of bacon flavored soda with a side of bacon covered in chocolate, I figured I'd might as well see what this 'Kanyay' guy is all about. It turns out he's a famous rapper?? Well, at this concert he was playing I guess what the kids call a "#SundayService" gospel set. And to be quite frank, I wasn't having any of it. Someone who is close to this "Kanyay" guy, please tell him to stick to rap music. Anyways, yeah, I love Rocket Fizz.

The gateway is a pretty great mall. It feels less expensive than City Creek. The store is are all more in my price range. However what I really like to do at the gateway is hang out. there are a lot more activities here than in other malls like the planetarium or the theater, and the food is amazing! I highly recommend tucanos if you haven't been. The best time of year to visit is the summer, because there's lots of outdoor seating.

Jessica Capitan

Top notch events throughout the year. Its the "go to" place for NYE, 4th of July, too many others to list! GOGA (goats and yoga combined with hilarious results) totally rocks!! Check it out!

Bobbie Williams

Businesses are starting to reapear and people are starting to come back but the homeless are still overtaking the place and begging for money. Once more businesses come back and the homeless are politely asked to not loiter I will improve my rating.

Luis Garcia

I personally love the remodel of The Gateway. It has an inviting atmosphere and with Operation Rio Grande, there are less homeless people walking around. They need more businesses but besides that, my go-to hangout spot in Salt Lake.

Hayder Tiger

It’s good mall but not great

Jay Jones

Lots of great shops. It's the best area of salt lake City.

Dustin Christean

Pretty cool for kids 7 and under. My 8 year old got bored. My 5 year old had a great time. Good place for toddlers thru 2nd grade.

Kayla Hall

The Gateway is FREE FAMILY FUN! Aside from the Clark Planetarium (formerly Hansen) , the Olympic Splash pad, and the Discovery Gateway Museum; this mall boasts a movie theatre, teeter totters, swings, and swing tables. Wether you want to pick up a delicious treat at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, or catch a California Pizza for lunch (California Pizza Company) , this is the place to bring your youngsters. If summer or winter has you down, this is the place in the city to explore. There are a dozen interesting shops, and an array of dining experiences to choose from. Love this place for my family and I would reccomend to friends and family.

OTR Trucker

This is a very nice, high end shopping mall in downtown Salt Lake City. They have all the amenities and all the high end stores, a lot of high dollar restaurants and a food court with very high quality food and a McDonald's.

thecrazycolt1 .

I love the setup of this mall and all the colors! The candy shop is great and the outdoor event area is a ton of fun. Not to mention the Children's Museum is right across from the Clark Planetarium. There is an area being renovated now, can't wait to see what the new development brings!

Tucker Evans

Even after a ton of stores leaving when City Creek opened the The Gateway continues to stay relevant. The movie theater is great, wise guys is a great comedy club, there's Dave and Buster's and s whole slew of restaurants. Not to mention the fun outdoor seating, swings, and see-saws.

Alexi Johnson

I remember when the gateway opened. I remember my first birthday here. I remember the gateway being the place to go hang out. It’s sad to see it so empty. Recently went for the Made in Utah. It was fun and nice to see the gateway lively again

Heidi Mabunga

The gateway is doing a lot better then the last time I was there 4 years ago. There are more shops and more people. There are some really fun restaurants coming soon that I'm excited about. We took the lime scooters from temple square to come here and it was really convenient and made for a fun night.

Randy Johnson

Really nice outdoor spaces. Wish it weren't so hot - would have enjoyed staying longer.

Jenny Dahlberg

Went to the mystery escape room as a team building exercise with co - workers. So much fun (even if you don't escape). The experience alone is amazing!

Sherrie Merrell

We love going to the children’s museum here and there are some fun stores and restaurants! It would be nice to have a little more variety in the restaurants though. But we love the location and the atmosphere. There are fun chairs to sit on and swings!

Mochi ฅ'ω'ฅ

Gateway is one of the more unique malls in Utah. Parking is okay, definitely better on Sunday's because it's free. It's a great place for summer because it has a lot to do with walking outside to go to the store. Can be a bit confusing but still great place to go.

JoCee Porter

Although the mall scene has started to die, I have loved the new night life environment that has started to appear. Good food and fun art exhibits. The art around the mall is perfect for Instagram worthy pictures.

FAKE NAME

Nice place to walk around on the weekend. There are a lot of nice stores.

Naomi scholl

I love this outdoor mall!! The updates they have done with the seating are so awesome, they have tables and chairs and fake grass (but very nice quality fake grass) and then they have picnic table swing sets. Only pics do it justice..I unfortunately didn't get pics of these but will next time I go... the whole mall is geared toward an artistic feel... it has a very nice friendly vibe unlike the stuffiness you get at city creek center..

Matthew Rumery

This is a great shopping center. You can get almost anything you need. With the ability to close the roofs and keep you warm during winter time, and walking across the street through the sky bridge. You can shop anytime during any part of the year.

Drew M

Nice place with pleasing aesthetics and a very interesting assortment of stores offering nice shopping and activities. My only wishes are thus, this place was bigger as this could be one of the best places to walk about with family while leisurely shopping and that the surrounding area wasn't so run down in certain directions. I would certainly hate to be totally unfamiliar with the area and find myself in some rather unsavory places found nearby. Wish is Salt Lake it (unfortunately) seem.

Jena Edwards

This place use to be poppin' with many stores and restaurants, but now it's only cool for the art, movies and water fountain. Not much else to do there. Then again that was like 10 yrs ago when it was cool. Also during the Olympics that was when it was crazy packed with people and stores galore.

Alex Baca

A shopping mall that could be great, is not, due to lack of shops. Most shop spaces are vacant. However, it still has a decent selection of restaurants and a nice bar and grill on the south end.

Amelia Fairbourn

Dreamscapes at the Gateway was so much fun. I am going back with more of my friends and family.

kyle ekeli

Looks like it will be an amazing place when more shops open up.

Jordan Welch

They are really trying to revive this place. I used to love coming down to the gateway and though many stores left when City Creek came in the atmosphere is coming back. Love the new stores coming in and the selections are growing.

Michaela Harper

We went hoping to find something to do for the kids (ages 1,3&5): unless you pay for the Discovery Children's Museum, or cross the street and go to the planetarium, there's nothing to do. The water feature has the potential to be fun for them in summer, but not in February, when we went. The planetarium and children's museum (I think I reviewed them individually) were great, but they don't really feel like part of the mall.

Kat Marsden

going to the gateway mall is a brutal reminder of my mortality. i am carelessly thrust into the knowledge that my fragile life will end

Julia Fielding

Loved the layout of all the stores!!! Disney Store is the best!!!! If you ever get a chance, BY ALL MEANS VISIT.

akim evangelista

Amazing place to hang out with the family and let them get wet oh, lots of casual shops and places to go, especially with your loved one to take a stroll!

Kari Ferris

The gateway has a lot of great shops! I love the outdoorness of it all!

Adam Walker

Used to be awesome but just not great anymore.

JTC

Every time I end up here I feel like there is a lot of wasted potential. My biggest issue is why would I come here, pay to park, and then shop at the same stores I can find in a more conveniently located mall. To add to the woes the neighborhood had been in decline for years before somebody took action. There is a selection of restaurants here. There just isn't anything convenient about the location. Parking is in garages and costs a pretty penny. Egress is not too egregious, but beware which street you try to exit on.

Jeff Prejean

Great place to get what you need lots of people to help you

Jay Jones

Lots of great shops. It's the best area of salt lake City.

Kim Hunter

What a cool place! Never been there before. A lot of cool stores. Reminds me of the shops in California. Lots of variety and fun shops. Wish it hadn't been so damn cold though...

Dustin Christean

Pretty cool for kids 7 and under. My 8 year old got bored. My 5 year old had a great time. Good place for toddlers thru 2nd grade.

Kanye West’s Sunday Service was amazing! It was unlike any event I’d ever been to! It was so cool to see Salt Lake get a mainstream event and I’m glad I was able to go. #kanyewestsundayservice

Douglas Ziegler

Good selection. Cool ambiance! Fun places all around for a good time any night of the week!

Debbra J Callahan

The kids had so much fun of playing and learning , visiting from Alaska.

Randy Johnson

Really nice outdoor spaces. Wish it weren't so hot - would have enjoyed staying longer.

Brittney Whitehead

The Gateway has been cleaned up a lot but the maps are still confusing when you don't go up there all the time.

Sherrie Merrell

It's sad. So many vacant buildings. Kudos to those who are still open! I went to the Walking Company. Still open, with a great sales staff.

The place is taking forever to build up. I only come here for tucanos and la barba ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

star lord

not to bad of a place. I love the little river with fish they have running through it.

lovingmylollipops .

This place has made the biggest come back. I am excited to see where things go from here.

Bill Conway

This mall has died I loved it once they get more stores in it will be great

Jason Beals

The Gateway has a bunch to offer for the family. I think it gets overshadowed by other Malls, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the Gateway lately. I hope they keep adding stores and restaurants. I will keep coming here.

Taylor Dawe

Solid outdoor mall with a variety of options never fails to have something interesting to do. I highly recommend the planetarium.

Hayley Hurd

Wish they had a food court or a place to eat that isn't Dave and Buster's. I was out with my boyfriend and we we're planning on getting food there. Knowing that there was only a Dave and Busters. When we got to it though, it was closed for a private event. So we had to leave the gateway to go and find food someplace else. But besides the food situation it's a fun and nice place. Great to take the kids to.

Michelle Bourdos

The PARKING situation is pathetic at Gateway! If you want patrons maybe have employees have designated parking because the last 5 times we have gone we could NOT find any covered parking and we arrived well before anything opened. We will not be coming down again!

Robert Downs Downs

The planetarium is our favorite place in this mall. They have so many fun free things for the family to do. The only things that cost money there are the movies and food. But they have hours of free activities for the whole family. Great learning experience for kids and adults.

T Haz

Hadn’t been back here for a few years and came back to see the dramatic changes. This place is like a ghost town. Despite what appear to be good efforts to improve the look and feel of the place, it appears City Creek has made its mark with the effect not being a good one for the Gateway. I was lucky to find Costa Vida is here still.

Zach Opie

Making a comeback...better than City Creek in my opinion.

Brent Mayberry

This used to be a premier place to shop and dine back in the day, but now it's struggling to keep occupants. It has the Clark Planetarium and the Discovery Kids' Center there, as well as a movie theater and some great restaurants and shops. So, it has its good parts. It's located in a part of the city that also has a few homeless shelters, which isn't a bad thing in and of itself, but I mention this in case you wonder what's up with all the panhandlers hanging around the edge of the property.

Sabrina Giesler

ExCeLLent, free activity, provided by the State of Utah and other donors. I recommend it to anyone. The exhibits change regularly, so my family and I plan to make regular excursions. While our children were out for spring break, we went twice!

Arthur Rio

Ghost town! Over half of the stores are shut down. Great summer location though, hopefully it can be revamped into what it once was and so much more?!

Winn Dixie

Dead zone. 80+% of shops are closed down. If you like the eerie ghost town vibe then by all means it's a cool experience. Don't expect to do much shopping or entertainment here options are severely limited. Dave n busters is a no go, pretty lame for sure.

Virginia Cervantes

Fun place to do so many things at once, eat and be entertained with the many shops and restaurants. They also have cool weekend/summer and holiday stuff planned with food truck snd local bands. Great place to hang out and family friendly.

Jeanet Oosterhuis

This is an art - shopping center. There are different festivals, a lot of galleries and artwork on or around the buildings. Not a lot of clothes shops and dining opportunitiesut it's still in progress. A lot of places to sit and enjoy the environment (for little kids go to the Olympic fountain and get wet when it's sunny!).

Austin Wimmer

It's definitely seen better days. Most of the stores have moved out... Some interesting renovations are happening, and hopefully can breathe some life back into this once great mall.

Shawn Dittman

The Gateway is transitioning from being just another mall tho a premier entertainment center. Outdoor concerts and events year round in the courtyard end, numerous restaurants and eateries, Wiseguys Comedy club, Dave and Busters, Megaplex theater... they just keep adding. Lots of secure parking. Long layover? Take an Uber/Lyft to The Gateway and entertain yourself for hours. Guests? Take them to The Gateway. The Gateway is easily the answer to all of your entertainment questions.

Angela Parks

Love the Splash pad. But everything else has gone downhill. It's like a ghost town unless these is a special event there. Sad. Because it used to be a cool place.

Steve Hunter

Only go to the movie theater, but they have good movie selections most of the time

Jessica Nosack

Cleaning up pretty good. I understand the change for smoke free. But enforce it, I saw so many people smoking even around the signs. Maybe they just need to make the signs a tad bigger. I'll admit I almost pulled out my vape not seeing the signs.

CREDIT Guardian/Ben Stutts IV

Parking was great. The interactive art show is a new and exciting way to display art. Try yelly-fish, was hilarious. Yell at what looks like a jellyfish and it lights up and changes colors. Tough a sensor and a display is activated at the speed of touch and the shrinking hallway with light effects. Only one week left to go see the attraction.

Amy Jesica

Nice atmosphere. As well for shopping and eating.

Jake Highfield

Neat mall concept but super crowded and often hard to get into places. Lots of photo ops but not lots of interesting activities. There’s a lot of good food here though! Parking costs an arm and a leg too. I think I paid $6 for two hours of parking.

Raymond Lovelace

Not as busy or as snooty as City Creek. Fun for casual walking and window shopping, tons of entertainment and many varieties of food options.

Bo Johnson

It is hard to compare to the Olympic 2002 glory days at the Gateway, but it is making a strong comeback! The homeless problem at the Gateway is seriously like night and day from 5 years ago compared to today. They have increased security and they do a great job keeping all of the crackheads and heroin addicts a block away all the way on the other side of the street. There are multiple new food establishments already opened and opening soon. The artistic side of the Gateway with multiple murals and colorful stairways is gradually transforming it back into the go-to destination in downtown SLC.

julio Gonzalez

Great place to relax and enjoy the evening. Well organized and lots of activities

Quantum Entanglement

It's an excellent open-air mall with lots of unique events in the fountain plaza. Lots of great shops. Clean and well maintained.

Toby Winters

Went to the mall to try the escape room, It was fun. After we went to "bout time"..... mainly because it was the only place still open, but it was good. The mall was clean and they have added some cool chairs and swings to the common areas.

I love the Gateway Mall.. Especially this time of year when there is so much going on downtown, and the weather is nice. The shops at the Gateway have friendly employees for the most part. Especially at Bath and Body Works.

Isac Zuniga

Has definitely improved over the years. Seems they've cleaned up the area from previous problems they were having. They also hosted the Italian festival in 2018. So it's a nice area with plenty of fun things to do

Scott Fisher

There has been so many positive additions to The Gateway. I recently started working there at Kiln, a co-working space, and have really loved walking around and the space and environment they've made. A lot of fun things to do there.

scott norcross

Nice place lots of art from local artists definitely recommend checking out cheddaburger for food

I love this place! I work in gateway, and I feel like I am here everyday for something or another. They have Kombucha on tap - along with a salad bar and tons of goodies! I feel like everything this store has in it is quality! The Cutler’s cookies are so good, protein bars, really everything I need. It’s basically a mini Harmon’s. It’s so cute and clean. I’m so happy they decided to open at Gateway!

Robert Downs Downs

The gateway is an ok shopping center in downtown Salt Lake. Some Sundays there is a Crafters market that is pretty neat, and there are occasional art exhibits, such as this beautiful set of wings painted on a street corner. We clearly enjoyed that feature!

Haven't spent too much time in Utah yet, but the Gateway is definitely on its way to being a tourist favorite. With the proximity to the arena, it's an obvious spill over spot so any resto bars looking to make a name should be moving I into this area anytime now.
