This mall is so awesome and one of my favorite places in Des Moines! The movie theater "Flixbrewhouse" is so cool because it has servers who takes your order before the movie starts and you can eat during the movie! Each seat is very comfortable and has a tray table that slides out for you to eat on! Wednesdays are only $5.25 and they show up to date movies! Totally Awesome!!

This is a nice little mall. It has a whole play section for younger kids, with things for them to crawl through, and under and over. It has some pretty good food options as well. My favorite stores are Ross and the Kids Footlocker.

Lots of shops to choose from. They have done some much needed renovations. Lots of food places to eat. Bowling alley. Good mall overall even though it isn't fancy with brand name anchor stores

My son is a high-energy 8 year old and he loved the crafts but he also love thee inflatables where he can hop all day oh, it was great for me because some of the energy he has was run off.

Stopped to shop at Rue21, and never would I send my worst enemy there. The store was trashy looking, not to mention the trashy looking employees that was on the shift that day. When asking 1 of the employees a question in regards to them having 2 of the same exact product, why they was priced differently. She was standoffish and very rude. And gave the excuse "That's probably because the 1 pair that was priced lower was not the same exact due to it having an older shelf life. I am referring to boots. Their is no shelf life for boots

The mall was clean and well lit. Facilities were in good order. The mall could be more friendly if they had a usable WiFi option and more restrooms. The current setup for restrooms means you have to walk a distance to one side or the other to use them. The WiFi wouldn't connect in most of the mall and wasn't very stable when it was connected. In today's tech driven world, functional wifi is cheap and important.

The mall as a whole is going down hill fast. It is the typical mall experience shopping wise. The best thing there in my opinion is the Flix Brewhouse movie theater.

I used to love Merle Mall as a young person, now they have so many business's that have pulled out, the place looks like a ghost town. The food court only has a few eaterys that have decent food and shopping there's not a lot of plus size fashion to choose from. Definitely not the same place I remember.

Merle Hay has made so many significant improvements to everything over the years, I applaud them. At one point I honestly wasn't sure how their future would turn out, but they appear to be doing very well attracting a lot of consumers their way.

But overall my son won, also congratulations on that as well.. wouldn't mind doing that again..

The mall has had a lot of updating recently and looks really nice. It doesn't have a lot of the big stores, but some unique stores here. Fun things for kids to do with inflatables in what used to be a sporting goods store.

Kimberly was amazing, told me it wasn't her normal store but was very helpful and helped another customer before me because he was there first. Would recommend her at any store, she was always very concerned about customer service and making sure we had the best discount available at that time. Highly recommend.

If Target wasn't in this mall I would never go. Used to be your average mall back in the day and I will admit they added a couple of stores for plus size women but thats a specific market I dont feel it was enough to make up for the 50 other stores that have been ran out of business. Last year they made it so the middle of the mall was shut down for quite awhile so if you wanted to get to the other side you would have to go out and park again. Food court has had a very hard time keeping places open the people of Des Moines have been watching this place kill business for a long time. Ulta is a good store for make up deals and targets clearance is where its at.

Nice mall, decent size food court and lots of seating. but there is a slight problem with the way the mall is being managed, I spoke to the manager of the mall Donna who, to my surprise was very polite but didn't get back to me after promising to investigate about the problem I encountered when I visited the property. A word of advice to shoppers - Some of the smaller shops are managed by "minor" teens and you could mistake them for young adults. I asked one of the girls who was managing the ice-cream parlor for a date and one of the security guards officer miller came running after me saying she was a minor. This kid was a racist he then called the police and lied to them telling them I was harassing this girl, I dont think he would have reacted the same way if the girl was not white??. He did not even bother the to check the camera footage before making that accusation. This guy has not been trained on how to treat customers. The other security officer agreed that I had done nothing wrong, but miller then called the police and they followed me into the bathroom while I was shopping in target and questioned me without bringing the person who allegedly made the accusation or reviewing any camera footage. They also threatened to ban me from the mall but said the ban was only for that day after I informally argued with them for about half an hour. I dont think its fair if they are banning people from the mall like this without reviewing any evidence they are lots of people that live alone and malls are the only place they can meet people. I been going to malls in Denver, Co and Des Moines, IA and New York for over 5 years to meat meet women and never experienced something like this before.

I am so at home with this mall the vibe, the staff and the whole place itself I always come here every Saturday in my free time it is very convenient because I just live nearby For the past years it's been my happy place whenever I am stressed out and I needed some time to chill The foods are really great The security team and concierge are reliable and they act fast whenever you need an assistance This mall is my second home Great job everyone! So all that is left in this mall is women you can tell have mean and abusive boyfriends, 6 stores that suggest there employees most likely will sell you weed if you give them a code word, and a movie theatre for people who want to drink beer rather than enjoy time with their friends or their date. Oh let's not forget the bowling alley that smells like a subway station in NY.

Ulta, Huiseman Eyecare, and LensCrafters are the only places here I go. Why? Because I like to support local business, but the Mall as a whole it doesn’t compare to what it was growing up. The environment is sad, the customers are rude. For eyecare, they are very fast, accommodating over the phone ordering.

Dieing, the new theater and target have brought some life back but the loss of the sears is just another nail in the coffin. Used to spend a lot of time here as a kid and they have done a good job updating it, but the market is changing and they have a lot of empty stores. They need to change to an entertainment venue. Real restaurants not food court. The Vietnamese place is famous give the a real space. Why did they close the bowling alley? Should have advertised it if sales were down. No bowling alleys left. Maybe an escape room, and laser tag. If they want to stay alive they need to stop being landlord and be entrepreneurs.

I've always liked the design of Merle Hay Mall. There are still quite a few staple stores but most spaces are empty. Sad to see the decline of the mall era; they were always a great place to spend the day for any age. Merle Hay is still a great place to take the family with a great play area and inflatables and a good variety of food choices. Busy but not overcrowded. Go, enjoy your day, and support your local mall.

Shop local! There are some cool shops inside of here, one of the better ones is the movie theater. You can watch a movie and be fed at the same time! They also play different, cool old school moives from time to time. Check it out.

Not the greatest layout for a mall but the shops have both the staples you'd want in a mall and unique stores. It gets a bum rap because for some reason people like to find negatives and reasons to complain about everything but overall its a decent mall.
