REVIEWS OF Gwinnett Place Mall IN Georgia

Pamela Hill

Very few stores... but cool looking at the area used to film "Stranger Things "

Corri Coble-Patilla

This mall was THEE mall back in the day. I still remember all the stores, the movie theater across the street, Qzar to play laser tag...it was the best hang out place ever. It makes me sad how the mall turned out today. I wish management would do something about it! So much potential!

Liliana Piñata

Pretty good mall if you ask me. I saw this kid spying behind a fake bush though with this guy that works at Scoops Ahoy. And when I was in Dog On a Stick I saw this teenage boy get killed by this big red thing. And after every store closed they trapped in in this storage thing with some kids that seemed to be drunk. And this girl had some kinda super power and tried to crush a Coke can and might as well just mention the new coke is really good. Other then that really nice mall.

Sammy Garjune

Love the icecream place at the food court. Very 80s style

eddie carias

Not too many stores. Very quiet. But stranger things was filmed there so it feels good and there's a huge Asian Korean grocery store. Good stuff.

Robert McRae

It's interesting. Seems like a lot of Russians work here. Always seeing deliveries from Lynx Transport. Definitely go check out Scoops Ahoy and Jazzercise.

Malachy O’Connell

It’s an amazing mall with the best modern fashion. However, I found an odd elevator that, when taken, brought me to a weird storage area a few stories deep. All the workers wore tight green suits and spoke a really foreign language. Some of them even threatened me with guns! Cheap labor I guess. Either way, 10/10, would visit Starcourt Mall again

unclelori

Pretty good place, I ended up eating some ice cream at scoops ahoy. Then I went to watch a movie. After, some weird Russian dudes came up to me and asked if I had seen some evil kids or something. Man was probably high or something but overall a pretty good place as I mentioned before.

Elizabeth Prejeant

I remember this mall at its prime, it was thriving and huge. Then Mall of Georgia came along and the downfall began. Sugarloaf Mills also contributed to the decline and here we are. This mall only has a Macy's as the big box. And if you want to count beauty master and Mega Mart. The food court is gone and a lot of the stores it says they have moved/left. It's a sad shell of a mall.

Jeff Lu

I used to love to visit this place. It was fun just to stroll around. Now that malls are in trouble and they try to find creative ways to make a living totally changed the vibe / atmosphere and in a way destroying it in the process. Is it better to keep it alive / on a tube or let it run down?

Ramces Guillen

This mall is used for movies and TV shows so it's actually pretty empty not a lot of stores are opened

Morgan Johnson

This place is all but abandoned. The paint is chipping on the outside and parking lines are barely visible. The only things keeping this place going are Macy's and the Asian supermarket on the outsides. Stranger Things season 3 was filmed in this location, this would possibly be appropriate to visit to see sites from the show in person.

Joseph Meyler

Amazing place. Something insane is happening there .... Watch out for monsters from the upsidedown. Crazy!!!

Rob de Leon

I needed some electronic parts for a home project and was referred to a super intelligent guy by the name of Bob Newby at the Radio Shack but sadly I procrastinated too long (by, like, 35 years) and learned of his freak fatal accident at the Department Of Energy Lab trying to re-boot the downed system. So, now I have to go see those guys at the Geek Squad...ppsshhhh...Super bummed so I treated my self to a large U.S.S. Butterscotch at Scoops Ahoy....

joyce Faulkner

This place is 1 step from being totally empty. Only macys, a few jewelry stores and an asian market are keeping it open. Do not waste your time going here

Asad Siddiqi

Used to be a decent mall. I went there fairly regularly till Fudruckers was there. Recently all the businesses are totally gone from here and other than a few there is not much left. Parking lot is mostly used by car dealerships for overflow inventory and the store fronts are usually online pick up and return centers.

gparris

two teens in uniforms vomiting all over the bathroom. Also lots of blood near the center of the mall. Overall bad experience, you’d think by 1985 people would know how to teach their children some decency.

Tony Bello

This is a dead zone. It is a very weird atmosphere because the population in this area is large but yet there is nobody at this mall. There are no stores and the ones who do set up shop here close down quickly. I don't know how the stores that are actually open survive I don't see much traffic to keep any business alive. It's mind boggling how businesses in this area do not survive long and the ones that do I'm sure are hurting financially.

Stephanie pinto

My heart breaks to watch this place slowly creep toward it's eventual demise :( My very first job was at Gwinnett Place Mall when it opened in February of 1984 and I will always carry a million great memories of my coming of age adventures experienced here! RIP GPM we'll never forget you!

Video Vandal

This place needs to be featured on one of those "dead mall" channels on YouTube. It has all but been abandoned by most major retailers (exception- one side had a Macy's, Victoria's Secret). I would say half is empty space, the other half is occupied by mom n pop type operations, with mom and pop staring out from their business to the promenade because they have no customers, and they know their business is going to flop (think Ned Flanders' Leftorium). The kiosks that were all over the mall were not open. This place is great if you are into malls that have a post-gold rush "ghost town", gasping-the-last-breath-before-dying feeling. But all the other businesses have moved on.

Sherrie Cunningham

Love going here to get my eye brows done

Jaime Gomez

Not a lot of stores open. Went to food court and it was closed due to a movie been filmed.

Call Me Kayden

so i was going around the mall and found this weird elevator shaft. now i’m stuck in this long hallway sorta thing. kinda reminds me of star wars. if you could send someone down to save me, that’d be great :)

Short Rufus

It’s a pretty cool mall, though I did see a few kids spying on people and then I did see a whole oh battle with a flesh monster thing? There was this girl and she had lots of bloody noses, oh yeah! A few days back I saw that girl make a guy’s drink explode. But yeah there was like a flesh monster and it broke into the mall and there was a huge battle and they threw fireworks and stuff. But there was a teenage boy that died. Another cool thing was scoops ahoy! Delicious! Though I was trapped in a storage elevator with a few kids who seemed to know a lot for their age about Russians and this little girl who had some attitude. Then we all escaped, if they ever make a TV show about this, I hope they cut me out, I can’t handle the fame ⭐️. Though 10/10 suggest star court mall.

Adeena Johnson

Unless you prefer to shop at an abandoned house I would not come to this mall there are very little shops that are open in the ones that are aren't really ran properly majority of the mall is just the mega Mart which has pretty good food if you like sushi and dumplings other than that the employees that work here have attitudes and will bother you for being in this abandoned mall for too long even though there is nothing here or no one here

FReviews

Far too many Russians with blonde hair and duffle bags.

Adam Forrester

This mall is very old. Not many shops remain and the food court was closed for the filming of Stranger Things 3. I'm pretty sure said filming is leading to greater footfall than previously experienced but the lack of modern stores doesn't bode well for the future of the mall.

Alexander Lamar

This use to be one of the best Malls in the ATL... What happened?????

Emily Bisher

saw the cutest boy at scoops ahoy !!

Marcie Schear

Scary and empty but cool to visit because of "Stranger Things"

Jessica Davis

Nothing much here anymore. A bit scary. I wouldn't recommend visiting alone at night in all honesty - I don't want to get my car broken into or get mugged. I wish they would rebuild this mall again...it used to be really good and have a lot to do.

Kaylee Cueva

For those who are upset about the service was because there was a show that was filming there and they had to shut down every store that was in the mall. Dont blame Stranger Things for this cuz i love that mall

Galileo Galilei

A guy with a mullet nearly ran me over and I nearly got my head bitten off by a giant alien, I did have a nice butterscotch ice cream at Scoops Ahoy though but the mint flavour wasn't great so I'd go somewhere else for ice cream if mint is your thing.

Keila C

I only go here because Steve Harrington works at Scoops, other than that fantastic mall! One thing that got me concerned is I overheard Steve and this curly headed boy talking about a Russian radio station ? Should Hawkins civilians be worried...?

Tony Holeman

Most shops are closed and the only real attraction they have they have a closed also. Don’t waste your time, looking for something related to Stranger Things....they act like it’s a president or something.

Richard Depaz

Great mall. But as I was looking for the bathroom, I ended up in an underground Russian base...

nathanlol

My Mom's brother used to go here with his friends back in the early 80's turns out his friends were almost killed by some huge monster thingy while kids tried killing it with fireworks. My mom also told me that his brother saw some dude get stabbed multiple times. I would not recommend going here unless you into some serious s**t

corruptd3

Found a huge monster, kids with fireworks, flipped cars and Russians with guns. Keep seeing vans saying Lynx Transport. Scoops Ahoy and Jazzercise is worth checking out. I would return to Starcourt Mall Again.

Sherry Parker

The mall was pretty much empty but we drove an hour out of the way to see where Stranger Things was filmed. Pretty cool to see, wish it was still set up like in the show.

Nols G

Very nice except for a horrendous monster. scared for my life but thank god for these kids with fireworks. Never thought i’d get out of that place

Desiree Cherry

Gwinnett Mall has lost her luster. Back in the day this was a very nice place to shop. I wish someone would revitalize this place because it's in a good location and the surrounding restaurants appear to be thriving.

SniperFox

This mall could be so much better than it actually is. It'd be nice if the owner could really do something nice with this place.

Sic Bastoc

The mall is really good! You should visit scoops ahoy! I saw some weird kids walking around and killing a monster with fireworks, watch out. I also saw a girl with superpowers! Woah.. You should visit the mall but watch out, you don't wanna get in trouble.

Blitzy 9979

I found a super secret russian base at the bottom. Also the ice cream is great !

Hi You

Saw some kids running into the mall then I heard a weird sound outside, then I saw this giant monster a few dead and injured people and I saw this girl that was trying too use powers too crush a can,I was in scoops ahoy the other day and I heard on the back they were talking about evil Russians , The mall has been getting a ton of packages from a company named lynx, But overall I enjoyed my time at Star court mall!

Playstn

Good place, nice food, nice clothes, and nice staff but the elevator shaft is broken it led me to a weird place and there was people who were probably Russian or German but they tried to kill me and held me hostage but these 2 kids saved me and 2 other staff from Scoops Ahoy so after awhile we went back up somehow and I tried Scoops Ahoy the ice cream was great!!!

Reanna McKee

This is a derelict and all but abandoned building. There were so many empty store fronts, the only recognizable brands were closed due to lack of air conditioning. Its fascinating and also very obviously sad. A dollar store is closing for crying out loud. So many moving sales and significant discounts, grime and the food court is apparently still closed from filming stranger things. Some other comments mention it's going to be demolished. Just a facinating example of urban decay.

Ben Bynum

Trying to eat and got killed by mind flayer 3/5 stars

Lisa Butler

I'm teaching my daughters how to drive in the old Parisian parking lot. Wish me luck and sadly, yes, it is that empty. I vote we turn the place into an 80s mall and Georgia Film museum. It is part of our past I'm not ready to part with. #SaveGwinnettPlaceMall

Winston Gardner Jr.

I hate to see that this mall is failing. I came here and rated this high because I'm a stranger things fan. Glad I was able to see starcourt in person

LaMonte O'Neil

This mall is sad. They really need to do something with it. The mall use to be a great place back in the day. Don't seem like they are trying to save the mall it's in a good location. Whoever own Gwinnett Place Mall need to get it together. Where is the effort in trying to rebuild the mall ?

GLAMMA GIRL

If your a sneaker head like myself and my family.. you can get great deals ( come ups) other than that there is really nothing in that mall that grabs my attention

Piper Grace Clark

i loved visiting this mall. the ice cream at scoops ahoy was delicious, but it took minutes for an employee to come and serve me. i heard something from the back room about russian spy codes?

Gloryfied Gloryfied

I remember when this mall was the place to be. Always sad when I go there these days. There are like 8 stores open in the entire mall.

Alien 6:

It's wasn't as popular as it use to be but still is nice to visit once in a while. I call this place the "Ghost Mall" but it's really not that bad with a few stores here and there. There is a supermarket connected to the mall called Mega Mart. Nice place to get food, snacks, and etc. I would recommend it if you have time.

Jennifer Valdez

My sister-in-law took my family and I here because she knows we're fans of Stranger Things and are always down for a road trip. Don't be fooled by any outside signage, there aren't that many stores open for business in this mall. Certain parts are fenced off. It's pretty cool to see they're (ST4?) still doing something there too. Would definitely do it again even though there's very little to do there.

Blacktain America

The zombie apocalypse breaks out while you are in Duluth. You think to yourself: "what would Romero have me me do?" Considering you're not a jerk, you decide to head for the mall. Upon arrival, you begin to realize you've made a terrible mistake. This place is depressing. No shops. No supplies. There is only a faint memory of the once mighty American capitalist social pass time here. Now there is only a pizza place in the food court, and sadness. But hey, Stranger Things filmed part of season three here, so you at least have that going for ya.

Cracker

The mall was overall pretty good! I ate at this ice cream place named “Scoops Ahoy” and also went to buy clothes. The only bad thing about this mall is that it is fishy.... While exiting the mall, I spotted a few delivery men at night who spoke Russian and carried semi-auto weapons. Overall a descent mall!

VerySmartPrincess .

Seems a bit run down. Bath and body works was there though.

Abioye tela

A nice place to get all that you need.... from beauty supplies to everyday essentials

Brian Park 박찬호

If you are a stranger things fan, you will be disappointed. They block the film set; they are tearing set apart.

Kellie Englett

They are in process of having their store residents move/leave the mall altogether. Don't know if the mall is closing down or going to be redesigned for prospects of other businesses or new store residents. Don't know how long this is going to take or be resolved.

mason hall

Great ,stranger things was filmed here also so that’s a boost

John Porter

Great place !! You should try shopping there you won't be disappointed. Try it out !!

Wendell Uren

It’s a good mall. Little bit empty but still has some good shops. They filmed Stranger Things season 3 here.

enchanted pickle

I got an odd feeling at this mall and I could’ve sworn I saw a girl making something levitate she was with a red head in the gap and ps I’m captive of evil Russians in a storage vault I met some other kids a little girl Dustin and Steve and a really nice girl Robbin I gotta go the Russians are coming!!!

FuRyFlamez 95

Scoops ahoy was awesome, but those Russians are up to something.

EZ boi

I've never been here, but stranger things, so five stars from me.

Iris Shpak

Mall is more or less dead, except for Macy's and a discount store. Was very good in its day. However, all of the peripheral strips malls are still going strong. Good shopping area.

Noly Marie

The mall is okay, but i had some trouble waiting in line for like 25-30 minutes in Scoops Ahoy cause these young looking employees kept giving a little girl free samples of each ice cream flavor they had!!!! NEVER AGAIN ! THEY SHOULD BE FIRED IMMEDIATELY!!!!

Thaddeus Crump

I still love this place. Brings back great memories, but if Macy's ever leaves I don't think it will last. If I were them I would let Macy's stay for free just to draw in the crowd.

Rツhhs boi

Found a flipped over car and found a couple of kids, scoops ahoy is pretty nice, saw a giant monster thought I would die. Russians in the back at night so watch out, a company named lynx keeps delivering packages but besides that its pretty good definitely go to Indiana if you want to go here.

Monica Gallegos

There wasn't many stores at this mall. It was kind of depressing. But it's a nice place to walk around to get some exercise.

Bissa Burr

Would not recommend this mall. My family went and did not have one good thing to say when we left. Security guards were extremely rude and ruined our experience. The mall is completely run down and not worth a stop. Even though Stranger Things was a help, not worth going inside.

Nahnie Gonzalez

The most active store at this mall is the Mega Mart! The mall itself is a ghost town.

Miguel Gonzales

Possible Russian base underneath this mall. Other than that it’s a good selection of stores.

Gaylord Thomas

I’m really Surprised as much as the mall is struggling. They didn’t capitalize on the success of Strangers Things. I imagine people would’ve paid 10 or $20 just to come in. Imagine all the Youtubers and Instagram people that would’ve made videos and got their photos. It probably would’ve been as packed with people like the TV show. Terrible management.

Starla Stallings

The stores that are still there were closed due to the AC being broken. We could only go to Macy's as a major retailer.

Jayanthi Rangarajan

Not opened, though it was not late. Old model. Not much to explore

Harold Montgomery, Jr

It's a great location, still has some good stores inside but needs remodeling.

Grim82114

Good ole Gwinnett. This place had almost no stores open. Very sad and scary, almost abandoned and gave a zombie post-apocalyptic feel and it was very unsettling. Made me sad to see such an old and beautiful place so run down now.

Beverly Broadwater

Weird vibes, felt strange being there, almost like I shouldn't. It was cool seeing a depressing mall which is why I'm giving it 5 stars. Mega Mart is the only interesting place there.

Randy Gordon

This place needs to be torn down and something useful built there.

Igor Popov

Stranger Things was filmed at this mall, I recommend all fans of the series to visit this place!

Jim Faison

First visit on July 6 2019 and I cannot believe how empty this mall is on a Saturday. Oh wait a minute, most retailers are no longer there. How do Macy's and Express survive?

Soggy

Place was great! Got some Scoops Ahoy ice cream, but I saw a huge monster there was kids throwing fireworks at the monster. There was a Russian base below us and I bring a walkie talkie everywhere and I got this Russian guy saying stuff that I don’t understand. but other then that i had a great time!

Angela Douge

I’m able to go in and walk around, always something to look at and buy! Stores are clean and mostly stocked with needed items. I enjoy the vans store and always stopping in.

charitza torres

Is an empty mall, the only good store to go will be Macys.

Bill Prichard

Pretty dead, but the Scoops Ahoy has fabulous ice cream for a teen detective agency.

john arvai

Not like it used to be but still a cool place to shop

Ted Elkhatib

Love a store there named Ramani Menswear, want to thank Mr Mohen the Manager there

Chris Manning

Wow almost every store in the mall was closed due to no Air Conditioning. The store I was looking for was not there and even one of the escalators did not work. A total ghost town!

Sharon Sermons

Really went thinking that they not only fimed Stranger Things here but that the mall was a working shopping area . Wish i had known before the 34.00 uber ride that we wasnt doing any shopping ...

Dan Turner

Like the rest of the malls in metro Atlanta this one has taken a hit along with its age. The Macys here is not as large or has the depth of inventory as the North Point Mall store.

Melissa Pineda

No stores are open. Its dead in there. Idk why.

James Krepps

Mega Mall that is unfortunately dying, much like many others of its ilk across the nation. As a curiosity of another time it is an interesting visit. However those wishing to see the Stranger Things season 3 "Starcourt Mall" will be disappointed. The set dressings are almost all gone, and the infamous food court is blocked off due to the construction of the likely removal of the remaining set pieces.

Yahir .

Dead place, anyways stranger thing fans ruining the reviews for the people who actually want to come here. No, there is no scoops ahoy, and that stupid stuff.

Nathan Becton

Gwinnett place mall is great but it's not like it use to be cause everyone is moving out

AwesomEddie's HoroscopeProductions

Pretty great place to be. Rumor has it that there is a secret Russian lab underneath the mall

euphoria by jungkook

THIS IS WHERE STRANGER THINGS MALL WAS RECORDED IM A HUGE FAN OF STRANGER THINGD

Panther Tech

Starcourt Mall was pretty cool. The power went out a couple times though. Scoops Ahoy had really good ice cream. The scooper(I think his name was Steve) was in the back listening to some Russian words. Mall was pretty cool, but it burned down on the 4th. Also the chief of police died. I think he was killed in the fire. I would recommend Starcourt Mall but it is no more.

jeremy knittel

I used to come all the time as a teenager. It has a little bit of everything. Now all that's left is a bunch of "bargain" jewelry stores and Macy's. The entire pleasant Hill area needs to be redeveloped.

Catrina Smith

Great deals on almost everything. Losing business lately though.

Greg & Christie Kuzma

Was a great mall, enjoyed some Scoops Ahoy ice cream and got my Jazzercise on, then I found a Lynx storage room that was actually an elevator shaft! It took me very far down beneath the mall and now I am stuck in a labyrinth of hallways with Russians in military uniforms everywhere! Please send help! ....P.S. Watch out for the Mind Flayer near the food court

Alen the Great

I stopped by on the way to Atlanta due to the huge JC Penney sign on the side of the mall. When I entered the place seemed magical. Everything was super neat and tidy. But when I went to the JC Penney all of the clothes seemed outdated from the 80s. That was a bummer but I bet it's pretty cool for retro people. Then I walked around the mall and saw that all the stores were old. It seemed like everything was made for an 80s movie. Then I went to the ice cream shop, Scoops Ahoy, where the service was terrible I had to ring the bell multiple times for the two young workers to come out from the back. They then refused to give out free samples. But the chocolate chip ice cream was pretty good. Then I went to the elevator and I realized that I probably took the wrong one since this one seemed like it was only for workers. The doors closed and I went down and reached a never ending hallway. I tried to go up but it didn't work... I went to the end of the hall and heard some people speaking Russian. I was curious and went closer and hid behind a box. There was this huge destroyed machine and an alien like wall. They were talking about some american called hopper when they said "onaj amerkanac Hopper". I couldn't wait anymore and asked how to go back to the mall. They started yelling and then kicked me out of the mall!WARNING: DON'T COME UNLESS YOU'RE AN 80S FREAK!!!

Avala Lynda

This mall is already gone, except for Mega mart attached to it. If I owned the market, I would block the entrance from the mall and make itself completely separate from a dead mall, strictly concentrate on your market and food stalls. Use Barcelona's open market as your guide. Good luck and please don't close Mega mart, it's a gem.

Dashelle Ortiz

I wish I could go there but I live in New York. I looks really fun and it haves a lot of places inside so... yeah.. in it’s from Stranger Things

K Beautiful

Why don't they just close this place ,it's depressing

Bussie Smollett

Minus a star for the dead body that was undiscovered in the food court for two freakin' weeks lol.

Erion .

This mall has really been heading down the wrong path. The mall feels deserted and has limited access. If you are disabled, this is not the mall for you. I had brought my mother in law to the mall, she is wheel chair bound, and there was really no way to get to the second level without her magically standing up on an escalator. There was no elevator and half the shops seem to be closed for good. This mall is like a lot of other malls, it is dieing. The only reason why it is still up is because of Macy's. I do not recommend this mall to anyone.

バルクホルンゲルトルート

This place was great when I visited back in 2013. Really gave off that dead mall vibe I was looking for. It was fun to walk around an empty mall. The Asian Market there is pretty awesome too and sells steam buns and other foods!!

Calvin F

Scoops ahoy is good, rest of mall is pretty cool. But don't go to the back of the mall at night because there is always a Russian guy with an assault rifle near the storage area out back. Oh and definitely check out Jazzercise.

Greg McDonald

This mall used to be the star of Gwinnett county. Then they built the Mall of Georgia not too far away...its gone downhill ever since. Many of the perimeter stores now have their signage in foreign languages.

Albertine Ehui

I went here because of stranger things and then i found oit that this place looks really bad a dirty. And someones dead body was found here so no

Catharine Richardson

I used to work in this mall about 20 years ago, so a lot has changed. And not changed for the better. Very sad to see this once beautiful mall just disappear.

Vlogs With Abby

It was pretty good although This guy made me crawl through a vent and then get stuck in and elevator shaft but i got free icecream for life.

Christina Vines

I'm new to the area, so this was the first time I had been here. I was going to go to Victoria's Secret here today, but when I pulled up in the parking lot, and drove around the buildings a little bit, I was genuinely frightened. Apparently there ARE stores that are open at this mall, but from the outside it looks like the whole place is closed down due to the poor upkeep. Needless to say, I didn't even get out of my car and I left. I understand malls are a dying breed, but if your location is still open to the public, it should at least look somewhat taken care of.

Pennsylvania Mapper

haven’t been here, but a fun fact is that this is the starcourt mall in stranger things.
