Bought a used car from rental car company with only one set of key. Did research online, everyone(including another well-known locksmith store) said chipped key can only be made and programmed by dealer. Several dealers told me a set of key cost $380~$425. I was then thinking to find a locksmith to just make a key without chip so that I can at least open the door if my original got lock in the car. Artie told me it is only $9+Tax. I went there and the owner told me they could actually make a chipped key that can start my car.(Key without chip can only open door, cannot start the engine) And it works! And it only cost $98+Tax! Although the key has no remote, it starts the engine! and I save $300! yeah!

I recently locked myself out my safe and needed a locksmith to open it up in order for me to get my emergency keys. I heard about Artie's Lock and Key and immediately called them up to see if they would be able to help out. Just from our minute and a half phone call I could tell they were so nice and willing to help. After arriving at the location, the fixing process took about 35 seconds and it was done. The people at Artie's are friendly, efficient and informative. They gave me more information on different types of keys and offered to make duplicates of my keys in the case that I misplaced them again. The only reason I didn't give Artie's a 5 out of 5 is because of the pricing. They charged me $37 to open the safe and I found that it was a bit high considering how little time it took to actually open the safe. However, their bright smiles and warm attitude made the cost worth it. I would definitely recommend my friends and families to visit Artie's!

While the service was on time, the final cost was NOT communicated properly ahead of time. Door hardware $125, labor to install $125 and service charge $85 was communicated and I was expecting to pay $335 in total but ended up paying over $440. The technician's response was "I worked on your door". When I expressed my disappointment with the cost he is asking after the install, he said he can put the old stuff back if we want the total to go down. They did a good job but MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR TOTAL COST AND MAKE IT CLEAR THAT YOU WON'T PAY A DIME MORE.

I would like to say That my experience here was very awesome, I had a Honda accord that was older and my key was demolished I had super glued it and destroyed the inside. They were able To not only pull out the tiny little piece they needed from the key but make me a whole new one from scratch basically. I was very lucky to have found this place they take care of you and will do anything they can in order to accomplish your needs. I can’t remember the guys name but the one who deals with electronic keys the back is awesome also their techs are great too.

Needed an extra house key made and went to a well known chain hardware store. It took half an hour just to get someone to the key making machine, then when I got home it didn't work. Figured, "Hey, stuff happens." went back and got another set made... still didn't work. Did some research online and was told to find an actual locksmith, so I went to Artie's. Amazing service and I highly recommend Arties if you are looking for a professional and fast service. We own a Montessori School and have a door that opens with a keypad or a button and it decided to stop working. I contacted over 10 companies in the Virginia, DC and MD area and none of them were able to help us. I did one final search online and found Arties Lock and Key. The gentleman who answered the phone was wonderful, polite and helpful. He informed me that his boss would contact me the next day to schedule a time to come out and take a look. As promised, Sean called me and was out to the school within a couple of hours. He had to order a part but was confident he could fix the problem. The part was available the next day and Sean was back out to the school with the new part and fixed the door within a couple of hours. Everyone I spoke with from Arties was helpful and polite. Going forward, I will use Arties for all of our lock and key needs both personally and for our business.

Arties is now my Go-To for more complex lock and key needs. I needed two visits over a weeks time for my job. I showed up with a problem, they had the solution - simple as that. I needed deadbolts and handsets rekeyed and some advice on how to remove a stubborn deadbolt. The service was Excellent and they're super convenient for me. One handset could not be rekeyed, they told me why, it sounded reasonable and they sold me one that was similar and keyed that one too. Pricing for the service was communicated and was expected for the initial service, they came on time and I paid a little extra for outside of business hour service. The technician was polite and understanding. However, my issue was I had these guys come and do re-key on a residential property. There was also a deputy from the sheriff's dept. there for the re-key. About 4 hours after the re-key was done, the new keys were attempted on the door and did not work. they sent someone out the following day to check it out and they concluded the locks may have been tampered with and the lock is broken and I had to get a new lock. They quoted me 480 dollars for a new lock (expensive because it was a discontinued lock), on top of 150 for breaking the existing lock. The manager was adamant about the technician completing the job successfully and giving the keys to the deputy to lock the door. I contacted the deputy and he said he was never given the keys to lock up and the technician locked the doors. I have also tried for 3 days to get a receipt for my payment for the re-key work, still have not received a receipt. I called their office every day, each time they asked for my email and phone number and they never called me back. I honestly tried to work with them and was willing to pay the 150 to get the locks broken without a new lock, but the manager insisted in trying to charge me extra fees for additional time, saying the work is unrelated and because I didn’t call back sooner… This whole ordeal has taken 4 days now for something that should have been resolved in 1, I am still locked out of the property. Management doesn’t seem to be concerned about providing or honoring any level a quality service, only about not claiming responsibility. Update: I disputed this charge with my credit card for the initial work, wrote this review and ended up calling another company (AA Locksmith, in Arlington) to come and destroy/remove my lock on a weekend (2days, 4hours total), no hassles. The manager (Sean), reached out to me after this review on a Monday and left a message. I tried to call the office everyday during the week and left multiple messages with Ricky (name and number every time) for Sean to call me back. Finally, I was able to reach Sean on Friday, through my own efforts. Sean stated that my review up top was untrue and needs to be removed. He said they did have a warranty, which no one told me about, but I have since removed that comment. Sean, was more focused on covering their work and bottom line, then trying to mediate this dispute. He insisted that they completed the "Eviction" work and that meant the Deputy walked the keys to the management office, which meant it was complete. He said he called the Deputy and the Deputy said "they did a good job" but confirm the Deputy did not physically lock the door himself. He also attacked my efforts to contact their office in a timely manner, attempted to discredit the other locksmith I called (AA Locksmith), accusing them of running an unlicensed and illegal business because there wasn't any possibility they could provide that service at a cheaper cost. The conversation ended with Sean threatening to sue me for the charges I have disputed with my credit card.

I have used Arties Lock and Key for over 30 years and always been fully satisfied. Just recently my son purchased a desk set from a consignment store. The desk set had 5 different drawers that locked but the store did not have the key. He really needed a key. We took one of the locks out of the desk and brought it in to Charlie. No promises were made but the results were perfect. Charlie was able to take the lock apart and make a key. When I brought it to my son and he tried the key in the other locks it worked! I called early in the day and spoke to Ricky about getting into my locked vehicle. After we spoke he was about to set up a service call, I told him that I wouldn't be available till later in the day so hold off for now. When I called back all I said was "Hi this is Paul I called earlier about my Honda," Ricky says ok I just put it in the system one of our guys will call you shortly, had everything ready to go didn't have to go through the spiel again. I get a call in about a half hour and Doug is at my car 20 min. after that. Doug is really helpful and friendly and gets me in my car, even helps me get the ugly warning sticker off my car from being parked over night because stupid me locked my keys in the car the night before.

I was referred to Artie's Lock and Key by ABS Automotive Repairs. Ricky was most helpful in giving me info and prices to replace my lost 2002 Camry keyfob remote. I decided to order one on eBay and try to program it myself. The programming instructions from eBay were very intimidating; especially with respect to the risk that I might have to reprogram my old master remote as well as program the new remote. Ricky gave me critical information concerning Camry remotes that gave me the confidence to proceed with programming the new remote. The whole exercise took me most of an afternoon and multiple attempts to execute all steps properly and within some exacting time limits, but finally I succeeded in programming the new remote without losing the programming in the old master remote. Had I failed, Ricky said he could reprogram one or both remotes at prices far below what I was quoted at the auto dealer. Although I didn't need his services this time, I am deeply grateful for his willingness to talk to me on the telephone several times about this project. Needless to say, in the future when I need lock and key services, he will be the first one I will contact.

The best experience with any Locksmith service EVER! Doug Jones was prompt, informative, thorough, paid attention to every single detail, demonstrated the entire process and why this particular Medeco lock was the most secure, and did everything he could do to make me feel safe. He did not "ups sell" me which I appreciated. I did not expect to need the new lock, and the expense is considerable. The fact that I CAN rely on this deadbolt like no other, was completely at ease with the information and performance Doug Jones delivered, and the excellent, clear Customer Service from Sean was more than enough to make this unexpected expense worth it! Wow! My deadlock on my front door broke. The key turned, but the bold did not move. I found out my deadbolt's tailpiece broke. It is that flat rod from front to back. You can't get one from Lowes or Home Depot. I went to another locksmith store; they couldn't help. I called up Artie's Lock & Key and they told me to bring it in. The associate took another spare tailpiece and ground it down to fit my lock. Highly recommended!
