NOT HAPPY. I wasted my money. I blame myself, and I blame Alex.
When I called 4Got Keys and explained that my electronic keypad's door handle was jammed up and unable to lock, Alex said he knew just what was wrong. He sounded very confident.
But he spent an hour-and-a-half messing with it, trying to figure it out.
These electronic keyless entry doorknobs are only $96, and I should have just purchased a new one. Alex had quoted me $60 an hour, and he didn't say anything about extra costs, so I thought it would be best to just have it fixed. Alex should have advised me that electronics in these keyless entry systems can fail--and just to get a new one: he should KNOW the retail price ranges of these systems, as a locksmith.
Granted, he did spend about 10 minutes fixing (and shining up) another door knob in my garage satisfactorily, but he was attempting to charge me $150 for the service call, and my electronic keyless entry STILL wasn't working because it wasn't auto locking--which is extremely important when you run an Airbnb. (That is half the point in my having it.)
So, even after his coming, I still had to purchase a new keyless entry door knob.
He reduced the charge to $100 because he could see I was not happy, but that's $100 down the toilet for something that is STILL not functioning the way it is supposed to.
I told him, "I'm sorry I can't give you a good review." He then came back with a total of $60, which I RELUCTANTLY paid. (I guess he was hoping for a good review or no review.)
But I had to tell the truth in this review. Alex's father is a Master Locksmith, but he is not.
Another thing to consider when hiring Alex is that, though he updated me through text messages, he is not punctual. I originally contacted him at 9:45ish am, and every hour or so he kept messaging me with updates about what time he might arrive, all the while, making me think I was next and that he was on his way. It took him hours from the original contact time to get here. I should have contacted a Master Locksmith in the first place.
Also, the white door was filthy, and oil had dripped on the floor. At least it didn't land on grout. He should lay down a towel and carry one into the home to keep his hands clean.
Lastly, when I asked him how much the total was, he wouldn't tell me; he said that he had to go do an invoice in his vehicle. That's when he came bacj with $150--and no itemized invoice was provided for me to look at!
