On arrival claimed that my door could only be opened by ripping it apart. It's a standard lock, nothing crazy, and I believe it easily could have been picked. This cost me $300, and he started drilling before I had a chance to discuss. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to call a non-scammy locksmith. Then he couldn't take a card or a check. It was just assumed I had $300 in cash on me, which is absurd. He walked me to an ATM and got the money that way, which was embarrassing. I looked it up after the fact, and certainly got scammed.

I've used quite a few vehicle.unlock places now for a barebones unlock, put the inflatable in, use the hook to pop. Takes 3 minutes roughly. 15 dollar service and depending on degree of difficulty 35 and up surcharge. They charge me 110 dollar surcharge for 3 minutes when every other company is charging 1/3rd to half that price. Not even an exaggeration. Criminals.

Absolutely outstanding customer services. These guys are professional, courteous, clean, responsive and really knowledgeable when it comes to locksmith and security for the home. I needed a full intercom and door lock replacement; my one requirement was to use the existing wiring. I did not want to open any walls. They came to my house in no time surveyed the existing non-functioning system, recommended and priced a new system and mapped out the wiring. My new siedle intercom system arrived on time and John called me to have it installed. My door lock was installed the same day of the given estimate. I did not have to chase them to schedule the installation. The new system went in smoothly and works really well. The price was actually lower than the estimate as they were able to eliminate some parts. I very very highly recommend SOS Locksmith.

I had a very simple task: to replace the locks to my new apartment with the highest level of security possible. I wanted two cylinders, keyed the same, with eight identical keys. And yet, every other locksmith I went to couldn't QUITE do the job for one reason or another. When the ignition lock stopped working on my Focus, in the parking garage of Quik Park,I was a bit freaked out. Luckily, when the ignition lock isn't working, you can just call a locksmith, which avoided hefty towing fees, though cost slightly more than a mechanic would. The work was done quickly and skillfully. In addition, the locksmith who worked on my car was very helpful, explaining what had happened (apparently, ignition locks are a big problem on Focuses from 2000 - 2010), that it will eventually happen again (though shouldn't anytime soon), and getting the work done within the estimated time frame. I am so grateful. & impressed!

Super fast and efficient lock out service from these guys! I first met Kenny while assisting a new neighbor in my condo building, as my neighbor had locked himself out of his unit, left his cell and wallet in the condo. Kenny arrived and within a couple of minutes he was able to open the unit door. Several months later, as I was moving out right around Thanksgiving...I locked myself out and remembered SOS Locksmith. I left a message for someone to call me back and Kenny came once again to the rescue :D He was super fast and friendly guys. Price is quite reasonable given the emergency at hand! I called the company to report one of their drivers driving recklessly, weaving in and out of busy Manhattan traffic and narrowly missing hitting numerous bikers and pedestrians. Needed a car valet key copied, not an emergency, called several hardware stores but they don’t do car keys. Called one locksmith and they wanted $130-$330 to come copy it. Finally I called SOS Locksmith, they had a blank key that matched my valet key and cut me a new one for basically nothing. Definitely give these honest guys your business! They were super helpful on the phone and when I came in.

I have been dealing with this SOS Locksmith. And the owner Guy, for the past 10 years or more. Every interaction that I have had with him and his technicians has been very positive and professional. Overall knowledgeable and fair when it comes to competitive pricing. And they offer a wide variety of services, residential and commercial lockouts, various different rekeys residential and high security (muti-lock, medeco locks and just to name a few) and lock changes and repairs also residential and commercial. I had my office locks upgraded a few weeks ago to touch pad smart locks. They were also very flexible when it came to scheduling unlike some larger companies, and Sos Locksmith was always very quick to respond to emails or texts. Theydid a great job replacing the locks, and I was extremely satisfied with their service from beginning to end. Should I ever need additional locksmith services, I will not hesitate to use them! Hands down they are the best locksmith company in NYC.

Absolutely horrible. The only positive part was that they got my door open. I was told $15 for the guy to show up, and $35+ to open the door. I understand that it was $35 and up, however. He tried to charge me $195 for a job that literally took only 30 seconds. I told him that I would pay the $15 for showing up, but there is no way I am paying $195 to open my car door. As soon as I said that he dropped it to $100 flat. SCAM ARTISTS. They didn't ask me for proof of ownership when the car door was opened or anything. It literally could have been any car that I pointed at and they would have opened it. Anyhow, call a tow truck company and ask for someone who can open your car door.

SOS Locksmith is truly a fantastic place with a team of truly dedicated lock professionals that know everything there is to know about locks. I needed a video intercom installed on the front door of my condo unit, so I called them and I wasn't expecting same day service, but they were able to send someone over in about 2 hours. John was the locksmith that showed up and he did a solid job. Although intercom is by no means a difficult task, John was very professional and courteous. He even looked at my existing front door lock and offered to do some minor adjustment so that the bolt aligned better. They were very reasonably priced .I will not hesitate to use them again!

One of the Technicians, Donovan, came up to Harlem and retrofitted my old apartment door with a Medico deadbolt. Guy and Andew are very nice and friendly people. I was referred to their lovely shop by Mul-t-Lock who said these guys had any key I wanted. I was mainly looking to cut mul-t-lock keys for my apartment. Andrew duplicated 4 keys and was determined to make the perfect key for me. They have a great selection of keys and master of high security lock key cutting, a good thing to know because not all locksmith can cut medeco and mul-t-lock keys the explain. Over Charging. My mother and I was lock out from home. They came and open the door and reply the lock.But they gave me a bill of 1400 dollar. I never fix a lock here before , so I dont know the price. But I check later with other people. They charge almost 2.5 of the price they should charge.

Sos quoted me a 30 minute arrival time. After an hour and a half they showed up. I waited on the street for a long time. I called several times for updates and they always told me they were close - just 5 min away, but they weren't. Use a different locksmith, I will next time.

Don't trust the quote. Locked out of our apartment, we were quoted $35 for the service, it took the guy 1 minute to open the lock then were told the charge was $185 and $35 was only the "starting price." Feels like a very scammy operation.

The staff, I’m glad to say are both friendly & knowledgeable, so they were a great at helping us find the best option to suit our specific needs. Unbelievably bad service. Had a key cut, took it home and it didn't work. Came back to get a recut and their second key still didn't work. This shouldn't be an impossible task for professionals with a key cutter. Their jobs should be automated.

Do NOT USE! Dangerous and a SCAM! Showed up an hour after they said they would arrive. Quoted us to drill through the lock and said that was the only way, we asked them to swipe the side of the lock instead so it does not cause damage - took him two seconds to swipe in, but he still wanted the full price for drilling through the door. If he had his way he would have drilled the lock and ruined it all but made even more money. We talked to the ‘owner’ after that and he said we should have gotten a price break down and invoice, which we did not. They have no clear price policy and kept changing their story. DO NOT USE. I would have been scared to be alone with the guy who came, even with my husband there I was nervous - the guy who came relied on intimidation standing in the doorway to get even more money. We ignored the reviews but should not have. Call literally anyone else. Dangerous and a SCAM. Someone needs to record them and take them to court.

In particular, this most recent time when my office front door was accidentally locked by our cleaning service, I had an urgent need to let a customer in. Simon showed up in less than 25 minutes and to say he went above and beyond, would be an understatement Simon did everything he could in a 90 degrees plus NYC hallway .when he left on a Saturday less than 1 hour after I called I was back in the home in cool AC. This store is a joke. Bought a Mul-t-lock MT5 system from them several years back. I’m now in need of extra keys. They’ve made it so that I can only buy an extra set of keys from their store (at double the price) - and no other locksmith. Massive inconvenience, as I now live an hour away. Let me explain ... To make copies of a Mul-t-lock key, you must provide the locksmith with a card, which essentially gives them the details needed to copy your key. What SOS did was, lock the card so that no other locksmith can read it. This forces the customer to have to buy from them. I spoke to 2 local locksmiths who agreed this is bad practice. Mul-t-lock MT5 key copies should cost $15-17/key. Just called SOS - they’re looking to charge $30-35/key.

They are absolutely terrible . Do not call them at any cost . You are better off asking any other locksmith . I overlooked the existing reviews and still reached out to them and had an awful experience . The technician did not show up after an hour of waiting. So we called again and someone called Tomar shows up . Says the only way in is by drilling and it would cost $187. We objected , called our super and got him to try just opening the door from the side . Tomar hears that and immediatly swipes the door open and demanded the same $187 . We had a long argument and Eventually were bullied into paying $187 by Tomar and someone called Sunny ( who Tomar told us was the owner ) who got on the phone and argued that $187 has to be paid . So , they lied . And they collaborate on lies And bully their customers . Again, please do not reach out to them . Go to any other locksmith but not them .

If you are going to hire them for an install specifically an electronic lock, you must make sure they give you instructions with any codes needed to make any changes. We had several locks electronic locks installed. During periodic changing of the codes, we realized they changed the command codes making it impossible for us to change the combinations with paying them to make the changes.

AVOID IF POSSIBLE!! Do not come here for key copies. I work in the neighborhood and spent over 2 hours walking back and forth to this place after 3 failed attempts at making a copy. When I argued for a refund the manager insisted on trying again. Those keys didn't work either and I left with nothing but wasted time. There are plenty of other locksmiths/key machines in this area that have never let me down. There's even another one right on the corner. I will never come back here.
