How often is it in NYC that you get to know your neighborhood proprietors. Well, that is what has happened here. Trust worthy, punctual, vibrant, artisan, eclectic, and a bit of old world thrown in just to keep you returning to hear a story of the local lure from these guys! Yes I have become friends with these "guys", how can one not! After bringing Philip Sr. a cabinet lock from a 18th century Steam trunk he took one look at it and pulled a key from his wall. If that wasn't freaky enough that it fit in, He disassembled the darn thing, cut the key by eye on a contraption that resembled something Willy Wonker's Chocolate factory of gadgets and with a turn from his hand announced, " They don't make em like this anymore. When I told Phil it was off of a Louis Vuitton Steamer he just replied, Yeah, but this lock made it back here where it was made. Only in NY City baby! I suggest you stop in just to check this place out! You will break out your camera or cell phone to take more then one picture!

Came here a couple months ago to get two keys copied. I was impressed with the friendly staff and prices were reasonable. I returned today to have two more keys copied and they'd doubled the price! Unethical, would not recommend.

When I came here first to get my RFID copied, I was impressed. Dispite their high price point, this is a family business and they have an avid selection of very old keys, so I was happy to give them my business. Unfortunately the copies failed to work and got me into trouble. I managed to get working keys from another provider who was open at the time. So I came down to return my keys, not harm no foul. But what should have been a simple process, became a barrage of insults and accusations thrown at me. The young man at the counter even started taking pictures of me and threatening to sue. I have never felt more uncomfortable at a retail counter in my life. Eventually his father arrived and I was returned my money. I have a lot of respect for that man (the father) and the business he built, as well as his desire to share the fruits of his labor with his family. However, as a customer, I feel that I ought to warn others about the kind of treatment I received.

Walked up asking for two copies of 6 different keys. Was told it would be around 10-15 minutes and it was maybe 5. They were extremely quick and efficient. Probably one of the coolest thing's i've ever seen. I absolutely recommend this shop.

Great, quick service at a fair price. My front door key (a copy of an original) worked for 8 months until it got cold out. The employee working educated me on how coldness can mess with locks and also gave me a guarantee his copy of the original would work. He was right!

Don’t get your keys done anywhere else. This is it. Getting keys done here should be considered part of the quintessential New York experience. Cheap, fast (almost too fast), friendly, efficient. I don’t know if any other locksmiths copy keys for cheaper, but I’m happier giving my money to this business!

Honestly the worst service I’ve had to deal with. I was basically insulted and asked if I was stupid because they didn’t have the key I needed and said they would order and then came back again to check in. I advise strongly not to go here so the awful employee on the top of the picture doesn’t yell at you.

The ONLY place to GO! Great Service! There's no worse situation than getting locked out or not having enough keys to feel safe in your home be it for you, your guests, etc. I was weary of a key service being able to help me but within MINUTES(!), their team helped me and solved my key issues. If you're looking for RFID (which they do SPEEDILY!!!) call ahead to make sure the proper technician's hours to not waste a trip down. That said, they are all very kind and friendly. I saw the father of the shop talking deeply with a young lady about a lock that needed serious repair. Felt like I was hearing a lecture on Art of Key-manship. I would travel here any day and highly recommend!

Good peoples here at this shop. It's a very cute little place, and very convenient to get to. I had two keys made and an RFID tag copied. All of that took less than 5 minutes and cost around $50 total. The RFID tag was most of that cost, and I believe the price was reasonable. It feels nice to support a professional, local business like this.

This is a great place to get your key copied; quick, easy, and very affordable. I got one metal key and one electronic key fob duplicated here—it took 4 minutes max. Given that I seldom go to the locksmith, it’s great to know that I’ve found a place with impeccable service that I can rely on for any future needs!

I first came here about nine years ago when I lost the ignition key to my 1987 Volkswagen. I removed the lock, and they were able to make me a key from that. They were the only place I could find with the knowledge and skills to do this. Now this is the only place I'll go for lock and key services--even just for simple copies--because I know the work will always be of the highest quality.

Nothing the only reason I gave a one star is because I can't give less,I came out to this man asking to get some copies of keys and I got insult,attitude, and then some,I mean really it's this the kind of guy to use for property and valuables protection?!?! He has a sign on the door showing visa, MasterCard, yet he tells me he only accepts cash,$4 a copy!? For a SC1,I mean highway robbery is better

Rude and dismissive. Called first and I was assured they had an antique strike plate to fit my door. After an hour travel and long walk (should I add I am disabled) they of course didn’t have it. And I was dismissed: don’t know why I am talking to you. They don’t have antique plates or they would fit my typical mortise lock.

Philip is very much a lifesaver! After running around all of TriBeCa trying to find a place that duplicates key fobs I was absolutely fed up with the unorganized and sketchy locksmiths in the area, after coming to Greenwich Locksmiths they were able to get my fob made in less that 30 SECONDS!! Philip was beyond kind and very knowledgeable of his craft. If you EVER need a key made don’t waste your time anywhere else come straight here. Absolutely amazing guy
