I was locked out of my apartment in Jamaica at 12am. None of the local locksmiths answered my call. Finally, Tal, from Dial Locksmith answered the phone. He promised me someone would be here within 20 minutes . Sure enough, a technician arrived and got me back into my apartment. I was very happy with Dial Locksmiths' service. They were very professional and prompt.

Hi I visited the store yesterday, I must say I have not seen such an attitude more reliable and courteous here in New York City Reasonable prices and most importantly a good attitude from the shop You would have a problem with the amount of 12 locks and wanted all the locks will work on one key opens all locks 12 I would say the locks were not simple locks and Sonia Joseph and store it patiently cared for and they did it in two hours ! Now I have one key that opens all So I highly recommend this place not only because of the price but also because of reliability Thank Uriel

My roommate was locked out of our apartment and I was locked in the apartment at 1 am. Tal and Sonja were both extremely helpful. I tried to install my new bolt lock and cut a piece too short. They replaced it for me no problem and helped me cut the new piece to the correct size. I am very happy to have a reliable hardware store so close by.

Wow. What a service. Called to open a locked door. Locksmith by name Tal arrived within 10 minutes. Open the door with his tools without any damage to the lock on the door. I am absolutely shocked and amazed at this man's skill. Glad I called him. Saved me hundreds of $ in damage.

FOR SUCKERS ONLY! BEWARE! Called Dial to find out if they could cut and program a duplicate transponder chip key from my Master key and for the cost. Even though the guy in the store makes keys and claims to be a locksmith he told me that all his equipment is on their truck. Of course, the truck never comes back to the store, and so I would need to have they guy on the truck come to me (presumably adding on an unnecessary travel call charge). The man at the store said he didn't know the price, and would need to contact the guy on the truck and would get back to me with a price. In other words, what Dial does is call a mobile locksmith, get a price, arrange an appointment, and then tack on a fee for themselves for making the phone call for you. The dealer charges $145 for the key and the programming complete. As you might imagine, the dealer overcharges, and the cost at every other hardware store/locksmith I called ranged from $75 to $95. Dial called back and quoted a price of $250 (double the cost at the dealer and almost 3 times the cost at other local locksmiths). I thought there must be some mistake, so I told Dial that the dealer only charges $145. Indicating he knew he was trying to simply play me for a sucker, the Dial guy did not offer to check again with the locksmith on the truck. Instead, he tried to con me by claiming, "It's a big job. The computer needs to be taken out of the car and then put back in." COMPLETE NONSENSE!! For a locksmith to program a transponder chip does not even require the car to be present. With the right equipment, all that is needed is the Master key and the VIN number. The locksmith certainly does not need to bring along a mechanic to remove the ECU from the car and then put it back in. I keep wondering what sort of charade these guys would have gone through if I hired them, they arrived, and they needed to make it look like they were taking out the ECU while I watch. If I give Dial the benefit of any doubt, and assume they were not intentionally trying to con me, then I must believe that between the locksmith at the store and the mobile locksmith on the truck they both had no idea how to program a transponder chip key. Transponder chips have been around for 30 years. It is hard to believe any locksmith doesn't know how to program a transponder chip, let alone two out of two locksmiths. Nevertheless, if these two don't know how to do the job, I definitely don't want them anywhere near my car playing around with the ECU. When I told Dial that the dealer only charged $145 for the entire job, his answer was a rude, "So go to the dealer." In other words, if I wasn't a sucker, I could take my business elsewhere. Of course, I went elsewhere and paid $75 for the job. I am concerned, however, for those people who don't shop around and who may simply believe Dial and get ripped off. If 200% to 300% overcharging didn't work often enough, they wouldn't do it. Unfortunately too few people take the time to shop around. It makes me wish NYC had a Consumer Affairs Department with some teeth. It doesn't. The only cure for guys like Dial must come from us -- the customers. LET THE BUYER BEWARE. Avoid Dial. You've been warned.

I have never taken time to write an online review but I was completely in awe today. I brought in a singer sewing machine from 1940 (a complicated hunk of metal) that I got off craigslist. I knew that it was completely dead/the wire and plug were so frayed. I was starting to accept that it would just be a decoration. I had tried buying a new wire for it but I got flustered. I took a day off of work and I brought the machine in and within 15 minutes Sonia had completely rewired it (she was so quick that I'm still not entirely sure how she did it), and when she plugged it in it worked!!! Even the light bulb turned on!!!!!! A lightbulb from the 1940s!!!!! It was so entertaining to watch her fix it, and she explained it all to me but hardware is a true art that I will never really understand... And this was all for 10 dollars. Incredible. I will never be going to any other hardware store, do yourself a favor and go here and Sonia will outsmart you and fix it right away. She made my day!

I needed to replace a deadbolt lock (cylinder) for which I had no key. Tal assisted me and laid out options. Original cylinder is a medeco which I can get keys for at $45. I opted to replace cylinder for $22, + new bolts and multiple keys. Tal also told me to keep the original as a new one would be $100+ Original post: Tal, owner is personable, not open on Saturdays. Google maps shows store a few blocks south of its actual location, but if you do an actual search on the address, it shows the right location. Besides Locksmithing they're a small hardware store. Google Maps has said that the correct location can not be verified, yet if yoou use GOOGLE STREET VIEW from Cuthbert Road, you'll see Dial Locksmith and Hardware there and not down by Grays Bicycles.

THIS PLACE SUCKS, IF YOU WANT TO GET YELLED AT COME HERE. Came in to buy key duplicates for the office, 8 total. When I went to work the following day 2 of those keys did not fit into the locks. I tried wiggling them, had someone else try them, nothing. They just didn't seem to fit. In the afternoon came back to the store to try to get the problem resolved. What I found instead was what I'm assuming is the owner who took offense at the fact that the keys he gave me did not work. He started arguing with me about the fact that, according to him, I didn't know what I was doing, and that I should go back to the office, wait another day and try "wiggling it a little more". I may not be a hardware expert, but I've used many keys in my life and I can say the keys did not fit. However, instead of being helpful he yelled at me and told me I was stupid. I told him I was not leaving unless he gave me keys that worked, since I paid for them and we need them to make sure sensitive information is not being left out in the open. He gave me such a hard time, I don't know how he's not.out of business yet.
