READ ME BEFORE YOU CALL: On 12/14/2018 I called Joe Colgate regarding a situation. I have wrote a past review about my honest experience with my phone call with Joe, but for Joe that was too honest and in return he called my father who forced me to take it down because my father “agreed” to the money he spent. Well what I didn’t agree to was to be greeted over the phone with screaming and insults to the point where the OWNER of a business had to say “I can’t listen when I’m talking so I don’t know what you said.” I have never felt so openly disrespected in my entire life, so much to the point where I’m willing to rewrite a LESS negative review. But where this business lacks is Joe, and you can see in many other 1 star reviews. His attitude, demeanor and how he spoke to me has left me in shock ever since. In the past review Joe was so quick to respond to his service and had the audacity to blame me for locking myself out (newsflash, you own a locksmith service, what do you expect people to call you for?) when his attitude was my main focus. Joe, you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself and disgusted for refusing to take accountability for your actions. I don’t care about your services because what matters most is how you handle it. How you screamed at your customers so much to the point where you said “I don’t know what you said I can’t listen when I’m talking.” And after I asked to speak I got three words out before I was met with more yelling. Once again, let me bring up other reviews and make note this is not Joes first encounter with his unknown diligence and lack of knowing how to put his paying customers first. Your policies and taking my money didn’t earn you this review, your attitude did along with your apparent poor ability to run a business. In conclusion, I suggest ANY locksmith company in Louisville besides this one and will share this experience to save other people from the disrespect that was given to me. (P.S. Joe, if you don’t like this review, feel free to call me and ask me to take it down personally, don’t be a coward and call a 23 year olds father to save yourself from your own actions)

I called other automotive locksmith around Louisville but Colgate's gave me the best price. Don't go anywhere else! Not even the dealership. They are way overpriced and a ripoff. This is the company to call for all of your "key" problems☺️

Would give zero stars if I could. Refused to cut a car key for me because I bought it on Amazon for $5, instead of buying it from him for $50, said there was nothing in it for him, that who ever I bought the blank from should cut it. While I can understand that to a degree, maybe if they didn't try to totally rip people off and sold their blank for say $10 which would still be 100% mark up over Amazon, then I would have just went to them and never went to amazon in the first place. I asked him if I couldn't just pay him for his service of cutting the key, that I didn't want to pay $50 for a $5 key, he told me to buy a key machine and cut it myself. I will find someone to cut my key, and you can guarantee that I will never walk through his door again, and I will tell everyone I know to do the same.

I have a Push-to-Start 2011 Hybrid that had a misplaced key. I was told they were the best in town, and after I called around to make sure that was the case I had them come out to my house to service my car. They were available that day and within 5 minutes a dispatcher named Josh had sent someone out to me. Josh (another Josh) called me before he arrived and then called me when he arrived. I walked outside and spoke with him, he told me it'd be about 10-15min. until he was finished (my battery was also dead), then he knocked on the door when he was done. He was quick, super friendly, and professional but not on that corporate BS level of fake professionalism, you know? When all was said and done it cost me $220 for the new push-to-start key and the programming and the service to my location. That was the best in town I could find. Thank you Colgate, and thanks Josh and Josh! Peace.

Worst experience ever, I walked it and there are 5 workers. Two which where on their cell phones, I stood for about 10 min before someone came to ask me if I needed anything and then when they finally get to me they didn't even help me. I asked about a price and they turned around and helped someone else, I don't know what kind of business this is but don't spend your money here. I will NOT BE BACK

My car is my life line. Lost my car key last night and needed a replacement today. This was the only place that had my key brand in stock. Hutch and the owner had great attitudes. Only complaint I have is how long the whole process took (I think Hutch said he was the only one out servicing people though, and it was a Saturday, so it's really nothing they could've done)

Tried to make an appointment with this service and the men were very rude. Called to make an appointment and they told me I must be physically home in order for them to come out, which is totally fine. Once home I called and the man told me they would call me back once they figured out who I had previously talked to so after 15 minutes pasted I called back to make sure everything was okay and they would be sending someone out at some point(I was in no rush). I was told they were about to call back and someone would be on their way... Within one or two minutes from being off the phone I recieved anoher call from the first man I talked to who was very rude and unreasonable. He asked me why I had called again, told me to be patient ( which I was, I just never revieved confirmation that someone was coming out. i was CONCERNED), twisted the entire stiuation, and demanded payment over the phone on my card before he would come out and do it. Iv never delt with such an unprofessional business before norbhave I ever been hung up on by someone who is supposed to be a "professional." Im not one to rant about someone but Im just in shock at how they treat people. Dont use this business. Plain and simple.

They advertise 24/7 mobile I was told I HAD to bring my vehicle up there. So I brought it up there to program a fob, well I was told come back in 1 hr it will be ready. Instead I came back for the owner and another guy to tell me they don't have time to mess with it after it didnt work right the first time. I thought I found the problem so I had the manager call the owner not 5 minutes after he walked to the back & disappeared. The manager told me only the owner can do the job & he is too busy to do it when I had my car dropped off to them for hours already. Overall did nothing for me but waste my time.

I was struggling with a piece of wire in a parking lot of a supermarket..... a black truck swooped in beside me, a man climbed out and asked if was having trouble( I obviously was). He informed me he was a locksmith, and before I could finish the next sentence he had my car door open. Overall great experience! Yesterday I made an appointment and the following day on a Saturday Josh was able come out and change out a lock for my business. Was super super quick and easy! Highly recommend

I was struggling with a piece of wire in a parking lot of a supermarket..... a black truck swooped in beside me, a man climbed out and asked if was having trouble( I obviously was). He informed me he was a locksmith, and before I could finish the next sentence he had my car door open. I thanked him profusely, he said "remember Colgate locksmith, were on dixie" so, shout out to my man for saving the day. I'll definitely be putting you guys out there. Thanks so much!!!!!

Well 445 comes around and nobody is here and no calls, so I called again and was told they are backed up but someone would be out well now it is 9pm and still no one is here. Horrible customer service don't make promises you can't fill I am only a couple miles away and they can't service me how can they service anyone else.....???

I called these guys they sent a man named Anthony out who was awesome....he worked for hours to get me a key that would start my car and he never complained....Thanks Anthony!!!
