I called this company on March 2, 2019, to get the cost of getting locks rekeyed on two doors. I was given a price by the woman who answered the phone. She said it would be $19 to send someone out and then $19-25 per lock for the rekey. Since I had two locks on each of the two doors, the total would be $119. I’d never used a locksmith before so this was new territory for me, but this seemed reasonable. Had I known I was going to have to pay almost TWICE what she told me, I'd have immediately made calls to other locksmiths.
When the locksmith arrived, he told me the price was $20 for the visit and $35 for each lock and $100 for labor. I told him what I’d been quoted and that not a word had been said about the additional $100 he was citing. He said he would reduce the $35 to $25 but that was all. I needed the work done that day since I'd lost my keys. It was already past 3PM so I felt pushed into a corner.
He did the work just fine but then at pay up time, he presented me with a cell phone screen where I could choose a TIP of 15, 20 or 25% and the price was shown on each of the choices. I asked with amazement, "I'm supposed to pay you a tip? I'm paying $100 for labor!” (He was there less than an hour.) He said the labor cost went to the company. Now, I know some surely does, but NOT ALL of it. So, again, feeling VERY uncomfortable pressure, I agreed on 15% which was THIRTY-THREE DOLLARS! I was ill-prepared for this whopping addition.
I felt like this was a bait and switch and was very unhappy. After a busy next few days, on March 8, I called to complain about this treatment. The woman on the phone told me that the owner, Harry, would call me. I also went to their Facebook page that day and left a message, which was SEEN FOUR MINUTES LATER. I haven't heard a word from this company about this deceptive treatment. I’ve been waiting SINCE MARCH 8. I would NOT recommend using Quick Norcross Locksmiths.
