Evan was fantastic- highly communicative, knowledgeable and professional. He walked me through my new house and helped me understand each of the entryways and risks. He was also able to answer questions about a door that had been installed improperly. Evan ended up advising that I not re-key the locks and refused to accept payment for the service call even though he gave his time, a lot of helpful information, and lubricated a few doors so they locked more smoothly. Stay away. Service and skill set of locksmith you will get by using Safeway is EXTREMELY inconsistent. We used Safeway once back in January to change the locks at a new house, and were very happy with the service we got, from Evan (I think the owner). A few months later we wanted the locks re-keyed and a deadbolt added - we set up an appointment with Evan, and was told that Richie would be coming to do the work. Richie was late (he did call to tell us that he was delayed) and once he arrived we reviewed the work to be done - rekey locks, add a deadbolt, and change an antique doorknob on a door. Richie had to leave during the appointment because he did not have all the materials with him, and while adding a deadbolt to an exterior door, he misjudged the door type and door jam, and took a sizable chunk out of the door, and also put a hole in the doorjam, so that you could see the deadbolt when it was turned. We were completely unsatisfied with how the lock was installed (and did not allow him to complete the last project, as he was still working at 7pm from a 2pm appointment, and furthermore, left a mess from rekeying locks and drilling) and did not pay our bill - we wanted to talk to a manager, as we felt we were owed a new door. Richie and a manager (I believe Rick) returned to our house a few days later to come up with a solution. The solution was a metal plate that was put over the missing wood on the door; we were still not happy, as the door looked terrible, and stated that we needed a better solution or a new door. They insisted we did not need a new door, and that if we did want one it would be cheap; furthermore, they continued to state that our door was not worth anything (it was an old door, but this did not matter; it went from looking fine to terrible after the work was done!) We were supposed to hear back from the locksmith after that - and never did. We called multiple times, talked to Bobby (a manager?), and still never heard back from the locksmith. We continued to call to resolve this - our calls were not returned, and upon finally getting someone on the phone again (Rick, the manager who came to assess the situation) he was rude, dismissive, and stated that the locksmith who did the work just decided he did not want to deal with the situation. As a whole, this business lacks skill, knowledge, follow through, and customer service.
