The process was easy. If you use the lender that Fairway has a relationship with, the process will be very smooth. I suspect tho, that if you don't and use your own lender, the process will still be made very easy. I worked with Chuck Magestro as my Buyer's agent, and Courtney was my Loan Officer. Fairway uses a secure document sending app, which was easy to use. Tips: If they don't ask for it, don't send it, and, send what they ask for right away for fastest service. As a former Underwriting Assistant, I can say they are VERY good and work VERY cleanly. Give them what they want, and let it happen (don't call to ask status, look at your app!! ). Your RE agent can also answer questions or field them as necessary. The title agent they work with, Paula at Fidelity was very professional and fast also. In a nutshell: I was a 1st time homebuyer and they made a normally stressful process very easy. I highly recommend them.

If you want to move fast, and expect your team to work quick, whoever is buying the house needs to be ready 24/7 to answer questions, sign documents, and get your "homework" done. Even when the regs for my down payment assistance changed in mid-stream, he stayed focused and helped me get through it. Ouch! I was told about the "hometown" service and I will say the process was very painless. Professional and courteous....BUT within three weeks of my house closing I was notified by Fairway that my mortgage had been sold. That stings quite a bit, I was asked by the closing attorney about the issues regarding my mortgage and the Fairway representative did not have any comments. Just be aware of the quick sell of your mortgage. As far as I am concerned all the talk of "we are here to help you" is somewhat back-handed when your loan is passed off so quickly.

My wife and I were using Fairway to buy a home in July/August. This is our first home; we've never been in this situation before. We are as ignorant in home loans as most young 20 year olds. From the get-go everything seemed to be great, Colleen was easy to work with and stuff moved forward with minor hiccups. We were set to close on August 26th (A Monday) we had all of our stuff packed up and ready to move from our place on campus to our new home. Come Friday (three days before closing) we still hadn't received our final closing documents, so I began sending out emails to her team to figure out where the document was. I emailed Colleen, called her and the main office, sent emails to the loan processor, the only person who answered anything was the receptionist at the front desk. She said everything still looked good and we should be expecting the document soon. 5:00 Pm rolls around and I still haven't heard anything, then I get an email from Colleen stating that we can't close on Monday. She didn't seem to be on our side, fighting to make it happen or coming up with solutions. She wasn't apologetic, she was defensive. Blaming my wife and I for not being able to close. I'm sure my wife and I did things that made it unable to gain "Clear to close" status, but we're the noobs in this situation, the issue we ran into was something my wife and I were both unable to prevent. Colleen is the professional and never let us know what was going on until the Friday before we closed. Her lack of communication was unprofessional and disrespectful, I expected a lot better from someone in her position. (Branch Manager in Bozeman) We will avoid working with Fairway at all costs. I recommend you do the same.
