I had an item that wasn't real high on the Store's list of favorable pawn items. So the gentlemen who assisted me was very professional. He did not make me feel stupid nor did he come across rude. He was very courteous, explained his and the store's position. He even said he would help out and loan a small loan. I was not happy with the offer. I asked for just a little help. He helped me with $5 more. Which may not sound like a lot. It meant the difference in a couple more gallons of gas. I will be more than happy to refer all my family, friends, co workers and clients to Silverling Pawn. Now I know the meaning of their name. Very Clean place too!

When I addressed it, the person at the counter said, "it should have been shown on your slip", and because it wasn't documented on their end, they would not assist me any further. I live right next door to the store and have been shopping there for over a year now. DVDs are only 2 bucks, cheaper than most rental stores! I bought a PS3 with a controller and two games for $150, cheaper than anywhere else I could find by a mile. I also bought my girlfriend a pair of diamond earrings for an extremely reasonable price. Every time the staff has been pleasant and have even helped me out occasionally with a discount. Great shop, I'll be coming back as long as I'm in Portland.

Great experience at Silver Lining. They were professional, patient and friendly. Went to a number of shops today and by far this place was the cleanest with the best selection. Came back twice and we were helped by Kay who was calm and not pushy at all. She even put something on hold for us without a deposit for two days. So I was just recently in the store and mind you this wasn't the first time I've been there but I was pleasantly surprised at how fast everything moved firing this Christmas rush. The people who work there are insanely awesome and so welcoming. I would suggest that if you're purchasing something for a loved one as a gift or even for yourself I would look here first. They have the best prices and they only put the best of merchandise on their shelves. You're not going to walk out with a faulty computer or television. I love that they're always willing to work with you on pricing and you don't have to feel like you're being taken advantage of. The one last thing I want to add is that this is the only place in Portland I feel comfortable pawning/loaning my stuff at. I know that if I decide to come back it's going to be just as I left it.

The most comforting in my visits to purchase, as well as, a couple of loan transactions, is that you see the same faces as you did decades ago. To me, this creates credibility and trust. The friendly, knowledgeable staff, are always available for advice without applying any extra added pressure to purchase.Their pricing of items is not over inflated like some other resale shops in the Portland area. As a Senior, I find it harder and harder to trust salespersons advice thinking they would say anything to just get the sale. This is an issue you will never experience at Silver Lining...

You can put things on layaway if you don't got the cash with you right then. They do rewards points which is a nice bonus. I saw a beautiful yellow gold diamond ring at Silver Lining Jewelry, but I like the white gold, so I asked Kay if they can do a custom-made white gold ring for me since I already had a diamond. I bought the diamond at their store in Gresham. Kay made a phone call and ordered the ring mounting for me right away. She was honest and straightforward. She explained everything to me how much it gonna cost. She told me it would take about 2 weeks, but to my surprise, she called me 3 days later and told me the ring was ready. The ring looks stunning. It was exactly what I wanted. I wished I could post a picture here. This is the second time I visited their store. On my first visit, I did not make any purchase, but Kay and Sandy were helpful and patient. They showed me all the pieces of jewelry I wanted to see and answered all my questions. The quality and prices are excellent and they stand behind their products and provide excellent customer service. They also musical instruments and collectibles and guns and other weapons among many other items. They are by far and away the best in their field in the greater Portland, OR area. I have visited most of the local pawnshops and by experience can tell you this place rates a 10 on a scale of 10 tops. I have bought many items for family and have referred by son and son-in-law to them for purchases they desired including a 1.5+ diamond for an engagement ring for my son that was great quality at an excellent price. They have a great amount of variety and stock changes often and you will not go wrong with a purchase from them if you can find what you want when you want it. If you plan ahead you will likely find what you want also! I have been purchasing from them for over 10 years and purchased a beautiful large rectangular cut blue topaz gold ring for my daughter that she tells me she is constantly getting compliments on.

For the last six months on a regular basis I have been coming into Silver Lining for loans. Specifically on my laptop computer. Every interaction in the past was always great. The staff was always friendly, courteous and timely. I am only paid once a month. Basically a fixed income. Every few weeks I would come in, with the same laptop, and get a loan. Enough to get me through until payday. And every few weeks, without fail, I came in an retrieved my product. The loans they gave me helped keep me fed and a little spending money in my pocket and I was always grateful for the help they gave me. I've had probably 10 or more loans on this item, its always been fast, easy, and a little payday I could depend on to get me through. Today was different. The gentleman that helped me this morning declined my loan due to a missing key. A key that has been missing for the last 4 months. For some reason, today was the day they decided to follow rules that I had no knowledge of. Had I known this would be a problem, I would have fixed it, 4 months ago. The gentleman helping me basically stated that he couldn't help me because of this missing key. After I pointed out how many times I have brought it in and how many times I have consistently returned for the item, and always on time he simply said "yes I can see that you have been a been a great repeat customer but I'm sorry to say that I cannot help you." Even though I only needed the loan for 8 days with my payday next week, something that would be would also reflected on my loan history. I understand the importance of rules. Perhaps this should matter should have been brought up 4 months ago when the key was broken, or sometime during the last 5-6 loans I've had on the same item from them, key broken and all. After calling and asking to speak with a supervisor so I could let him know my...displeasure..I was told their wasn't one available. I recognized the mans voice as the person who declined my loan just minutes before. I did not let him know that I recognized him. I asked him to pull up my history to see how consistent my business has been with them, every few weeks I come in and get a loan and without fail, I always return for my item. Always on time, usually before the due date. Several of these loans have sometime been for a week or less. This gentleman then claimed to know who I was, what had taken place, and that the man helping me was the owner. Even though he couldn't look up my account at that moment because he was busy. This confirmed to me that the man I was speaking to was the same man who declined my loan. That, or he's psychic, as all other representatives were assisting other customers during my attempt to get another loan. My best guess is that he was the owners son. Not a complete fabrication of the truth I suppose. After telling him they have lost a good customer over this his attitude, was that it doesn't matter, we have rules, you are one customer. We can handle losing one customer. Long story short, I understand why rules are important. So if anything, they need to re-train their staff, since I've had 5 loans on the item with the key missing. That's at least 5 times their staff has failed to follow correct protocol. Might be time for a staff training meeting. It's also unfortunate that they do not mind losing good customers, "it's just one customer", right? Well sir, everyone I have had interactions with at this establishment has always been friendly, courteous, and genuinely concerned about providing the best customer service possible. Except that "one guy". Well, that "one guy" just lost your business this "one customer".

That was 10 years ago, (in November), and I'm sure I've replaced my lost jewelry, at least, 10 times over! I LOVE THE SILVER LINING! They have items that are basic, and things that the most eccentric person would drool over, (oh wait, that's me, which I am referring to!). They pride themselves on having a diverse collection, no two items are the same. Very, 'individualistic,' for the, 'individualist'. As I had finished my jewelry hunting, for the day, as I was walking out the door, the most beautiful pair of Harley D; Black, Studded, Leather Pants, and matching belt, started a staring match with me. We went round, and round, and as my eyes started to tear up; well,..that's when things became physical. I'll spare, the gruesome details, of what happened next, but I'll say this. When we left, they were, (happily), strapped snug, around my waist, thighs, and yes, my buttocks; and my hands were feeling out it's pockets, with money to spare. As long as there's a Silver Lining, I'll believe in heaven!

My experience was with the jewelry wing of this store. They have fantastic customer service, plus the appearance of a nice fine jewelry store - but with amazingly low prices and bonus-added for me: treasure-hunting excitement. Walking in past the line of people bringing in their goods surprisingly didn't bother me - we scooted into the jewelry area in a few steps. Kay was so helpful and patient and took her time, really listening to what we were looking for and our price range, and showing us anything that might be made to fit our fingers that there was any chance we might like. We got wedding/engagement rings that (although they are a little more conventional than we were hoping for) are really beautiful, comfortable, and would have been way way way out of our budget at a retail shop. Way more sparkle than I EVER thought I'd wear. They resized and polished within a day. I'm super happy with my experience and the deals we got. I feel like reuse is a responsible way to source precious jewelry, so I feel good about that too. I would recommend this place to any budget-conscious person in search of precious jewelry (especially wedding rings.)

When I went to Silver Lining with a shiny lump of metal found in an old bathroom sink drain they identified my little lump to be both raw gold and gold ore. With no way to tell the purity of gold to ore ratio they agreed to go 50 - 50 with me on it. I like their style. They Rock!!

Their collection is huge and diverse, you can find anything and its all for a buck. This was my third visit to Silver Linings and I wasn't disappointed. I took my Mom in to get a couple of ring fillers. They inserted them and didn't charge her for the fillers or the service. I asked about getting a couple of my rings cut off and the clerk was able to remove one and have someone cut the other one off. They didn't charge me either. There was no pressure to buy and a wide variety of beautiful jewelry at all price levels. I bought a new ring that I love and left the one he removed to be fitted for another finger. This is the only jewelry store I will be shopping at or going to for repairs. I highly recommend it for both.

I never write reviews nor do I frequent pawn shops. We'll, there's a first time for everything! Today I was shopping around to sell some loose gemstones that I'm sure I would have lost. I checked places on the internet and had planned on visiting two of them to compare prices. The first place I checked was a coin shop in the Gateway area. I was somewhat disappointed when they quoted me $76 for two loose diamonds and a pair of diamond earrings. I realized the diamonds in the earrings were definitely not first or second quality. They rarely use expensive stones in earrings because people lose them. But the other two diamonds were of exceptional quality. I was told that because they weren't flawless they were all paid at the same price. I really thought that was unfair because they certainly charge a premium for near-flawless stones when you're purchasing them. The second shop I had planned on visiting was in lower Northeast Portland. When I got there I realized I had parked in the parking lot for Silver Liningl rather than the business next door. I took my items into Silver Lining and I spoke with Shaun. His offer was well over the amount quoted at the first shop. Just to be fair I told Shaun that I needed to go next door to see what they would offer. The gentleman at the other store was higher than the first store in Gateway but considerably lower then the price Sean had quoted. Needless to say I went back to Silver Lining and concluded my business with them. I thought they were very professional and offered me a fair price for the items I had to sell. In the future I will definitely give them first crack at any items I am looking to sell!

I liked another ring more but this one was more affordable. I went back today and asked the man that waited on me if I could exchange the layaway and he was very accommodating. My husband and I have been selling stuff to them for a long time now, and they always give us the most money for our stuff. I got 200$ for my computer (loan) when the most any other place would give me is like 60-70$ (total insult for such a nice machine). And most pawn shop employees, in my experience, give you a not so nice feeling. Here it felt like dealing with a normal, down to earth person who was not out to just make a large profit on our stuff. I felt like they really wanted both parties to walk away happy. Also, when I have pawned stuff, they have gone WAY out of their for me. I was late making a payment, and called about a week after it was due to BEG them to let me still extend the pay back date. They were totally cool with this - EVEN KNOW IT WAS PAST MY DUE DATE, AND SOMEONE EVEN PUT MONEY DOWN ON THE ITEM. What pawn shop would do that?!?! Seriously! They could have made more money just selling it. We are, and forever will be, Silver Lining customers. They are truly awesome, down to earth people who look out for their customers. Never been to a pawn shop like this one. Ever.
