They have outsourced all of their departments, especially with fraud. Their app no longer works well at all. Time to find another credit Union after being with OCCU for 6 years.

keith altamirano

This credit union charges a duplicate insurance with no notice, added thousands to my loan. I had insurance, they refuse to remove the 5000 they added to my loan.

Great Customer Service... I am writing to you to express my appreciation for the excellent customer service which we had received from the Credit Union Personal Banker was very warm and accommodating, and very helpful to my wife and I with our personal car loan, I hope that this is the kind of service that will be present in all your OCCU Branches permanently as this is exactly what the customers want to have. Thanks again.

I've been a member here for probably 10 years or more. They always take care of me. I just called and (once I selected an option) there was no wait time at all to talk to a real person. The folks at this location, as with every location I've visited, are always super friendly. Keep up the great work!

Amiel Vickroy

I have been a member for four years. I have always been happy with their excellent customer service. Sometimes things have gotten rough over the years and they have been patient and worked with me. The only thing I find upsetting is that they only have one branch in Salem. I end up having to do my deposits at Unitus.

HORRIBLE.

Absolutely love this Credit Union! Great people and Great service! Wish they wouldn't have moved here but will stay with them forever!

Ivan Hernandez

The worst phone or online service, it took me about 17 calls to be able to get assistance to make a payment. The Low interest rate was not worth the stress.

This bank is the worst bank I've ever banked with. I mean they are worse than US bank and trust me I don't like them either. 1. Problem they have customer representatives that do not know how to do their job and that do not speak clearly. 2. They are unprofessional they tell you they're going to call you back and then they don't call you back until the next day. I need to get things done, I can't go by your time. You need to go by your customers time. 3. Their website says they are open and it is incorrect. I went by and the bank was closed. 4. They have a 15$ fee just so you can make a payment over the phone. You guys are already taking enough of my money through your interest rate you need more?

Shawna

Financed 2 cars through them both times they gave me the best interest rate and it was a very easy process.

I love this bank. The customer service at the Salem branch has been amazing. The manager was extremely helpful with problem solving with regards to getting my pay check deposited while I was traveling out of state for an extended period. I've been a member for 19 years and have never had any negative experiences. Thank you OCCU!!!

We opened an account with OCCU because we were moving to Salem. We wanted to go with a local credit union instead of a big bank. Opening the account was great, they were super friendly and everything went smoothly. When we were ready to buy our home we met with the lender in their office. She was very nice but very slow. The housing market in Salem was moving quickly and we couldn't get updated information quickly enough to be competative. It was really frustrating and ultimately caused us to go with the lender that our real estate agent recommended. During the homebuying process we needed statements. Because their online statements come in the form of a pop up neither my husband nor I could get them to actually populate in our browser. I'm open to the fact that this could be an issue on our end, but should note that it happened on three different computers in 3 different browsers. We drove to the credit union to get copies of our statements and were informed there is a five dollar charge for each statement. Next we needed copies of checks we had deposited into our account to show the lenders where the money came from. I called the credit union to ask for copies and guess what? It's a five dollar charge for each check (unless you need more than 5 checks as it caps out at twenty-five dollars). Most banks and the other credit union I have used house those copies in your actual account so they are accessible online. I am surprised by the nickel and diming that takes place with this credit union and disappointed by it. It seems inappropriate to pass the cost of bad quality on your company's part to your consumer. They need to either update their technology to provide these services consistently or they need to eat the cost of doing business with substandard technology. We will be closing our account as soon as our home purchase is complete.

My wife and I got wrapped into a scam over a bed that we were selling online. When the purchaser send us a check for it that we deposited and then asked for a refund, I went to OCCU after a few days to confirm if the check was cleared and if it would bounce before I would send any money back. When I asked the teller point blank if the check would bounce he told me "No, it's fine" and gave me no warning or disclaimer that the check could bounce. I foolishly believed him and sent money back that day. The day afterwards however, the check bounced. When I called OCCU out on the lie that they told me about the check not bouncing, they took no financial or any responsibility for the lie that they told and the warnings that they made no attempt to inform me of. To add insult to injury they said the issue was my responsibility and not theirs. My wife and I are now looking for a new bank. If you care about your finances being secure, I'd avoid OCCU!

Oregon Community Credit Union was great when it came to vehicle loans, so I thought I’d give them a shot when it came to everyday banking. Awful! Problems every time I turned around, and not even a call center to assist if it wasn’t traditional “banker’s hours”. In most cases they corrected their errors, but that was only after hours and hours on the phone. Their 3rd party bill pay system is haphazard at best. Their internal processes and practices are sorely in need of modernization, including their training and customer service. I should have walked away when the representative at the branch was getting chewed out for messing something up earlier in the day in front of all the customers in the building, ridiculously unprofessional. I’ve closed my checking account after less than three months.

They may be a credit union but they lack the friendly personal touch of one, and operate like a large bank without your best interest at heart. I can't recommend OCCU.

Can't stand this credit union! I have an auto loan with them, they treat you like a criminal when you call with insane amounts of security verification, you're expected to recite your member number, acct number and any other numbers or codes. Living in Portland is a nightmare when dealing with the limited "shared branch"...even the tellers at other banks have issues finding your acct. Looking forward to being done with this auto loan or transferring it asap. Don't waste your time!

....called in on the spur of the moment 2-15-2017 to check The balance on my RV loan without me having my account or ID number.....customer service found my account, my balance & interest paid for last year with a minimum of trouble in about 3-5 minutes with utmost courtesy. ....I like dealing with this establishment because I can tell they appreciate me in the kind manner in which my problem was managed .....thank you customer service.....

Patrick Wharton

I don't know why these people ever receive less than 4 stars. They ALWAYS help me out. Even with things that aren't their problem in the first place.

Wrote a review about who they do business with,, funny the review disappeared.

The local Salem branch is full of nice people. Unfortunately, I have had multiple issues with customer service / speaking on the phone with their company including setting up auto-pay, closing my debit account, and errors when trying to transfer funds from one bank to OCCU. Their online credit card system is not very user-friendly, at least compared to other banks I have used and it is unfortunate they do not have a mobile app for their credit card services. In person, they are friendly and helpful, eager to sign you up for loans / credit cards. Unfortunately, otherwise, they lag behind in technology and over the phone customer service ( the "1-800" numbers, not the actual local banks.) Hm.

Had an amazing experience with my refinance so I ended up switching all my accounts here. Win for me as they don't charge all the crappy fees big business banks do. Great customer service from Peggy.

I have been with OCCU for five years now. My auto loan is through them as well as my general checking and savings account. I haven't had many issues with this bank but here are a few that I think need to be addressed: -ATM at the drive up location in Salem would not print a receipt. (Total of 5 occurrences) -Lost my debit card so I called in and had the card canceled. Was told they would be replacing it in 7 to 10 business days. Called after a weeks time to check the status. Was told that no card replacement had been ordered and would have to wait another 7 to 10 business days. Then was told that local branches can issue an instant debit card. So I took time off of work (I work during the hours they are open) and went to my local branch in Salem and they were unable to give me a instant debit card for lack of having the strip that is needed to run a card through. I am now currently still waiting for a replacement card and having to go through other people so I can pay my online bills which I normally pay with my debit card. Talk about consistent let down and inconvenience. - I was considering switching banks after all of this mess but have decided to stay because of the consistent friendly customer service I had gotten in the past. Shout out to Peggy in particular who set up my auto loan and helps me anytime I needed it

Always great experiences. The loan department is absolutely awesome, fast and easy to work with. Matt Nunez at the Eugene branch knows his stuff and make everything so easy!! Thank you for having such a educated and dedicated staff to service us members!

Kyle Devine

I just paid off my car loan with them. Always been great customer service.

Adam Ward

Not a trustworthy bank, hidden fees, and deceptive paperwork.

Alex Salem

These guys are horrible. Worst customer service and they even didnt get my payments right.

Maria Ramirez

very good

Do not get an auto loan here! I got roped in via an offer from a dealer--I didn't feel comfortable but decided what the heck. To confirm some of the foresaid, they are very difficult to work with. Your account number is not available even on secure parts of the site or in electronic bills (doesn't make sense if you are paying bills manually). My biggest issue is when it came time to trade-in my vehicle, my dealer sent a check with the correct account information to them--10 days after I called in to check on the check after the dealer confirmed it was received. They advised they are unable to research payments on their end. Doesn't make sense, all companies have the ability to track checks received. Nice people on the line, but I suspect they are not well trained or they are just call centers with no experience in the job. Also, alot of the security measures they have do not make sense (ex: When was your last ATM withdrawal on your account? I have an auto loan, never.)

I have a car loan through OCCU and as part of the low rate I got I needed to sign up for automatic deductions and paperless statements. Well, I must have forgotten to sign up for paperless because after three months a $250 fee showed up on my account for "Principal Disb RATE DISCOUNT NONCOMPLIANCE". After reading some of their reviews I was bit worried how my service would be. However, I called today and spoke Taylor first, who let me know the fee was because I didn't sign up for paperless, and that I'd just need to do that online real quick and call back. I called back in 5 minutes and spoke with Jenna, who reversed the fee. I never waited to speak with a rep at 12:30 in the afternoon, my issue was resolved in less than 15 minutes, and both Taylor and Jenna were very friendly and informative over the phone. I don't bank with OCCU because I have a credit union closer to where I live, but I can tell you that my experience with their car loan has been great so far.

Deirdre McAteer Gee

Been a member here for nearly 6 years, I have always had great customer service and fast response times on most everything. The only downside is that I now live in Washington and have to drive a ways to visit a branch - oh well, for most things I can go to a sister credit union!

This bank has come very close to putting this old lady, totally under water..

I was a member of OCCU for more than 10 years, and have recently switched banks. A non-account holder and someone who I have been having legal issues with was given my account balances by Oregon Community Credit Union. When confronted with this breach in security the assistant manager tried to minimize it by saying they only released the balance information to the non-account holder. A different financial institution would probably be the better option, but at the bare minimum you should have notes put on your account that they should use extreme precautions when handling your information.

Angela Roe

Great people. Very nice friendly and professional. The branch is extremely modern and clean. They have a nice advanced ATM machine. All-around a nice place to keep your money or to get a loan from.

Darren Ferguson

Friendly staff and ATM is open for members in a protected enclosure 24/7

David Richards

Salem Branch is awesome. I have been with them for about 4 years and have never had anything but exceptional service. Keep it up everyone, and thank you.

Joshua Bacher

The branches in Springfield and Eugene are good (where I joined), but the Commercial Branch is awful. Liz Duffey in particular is a rude, pretentious gal who wouldn't help me out with overdraft fees brought on by a 5 cent oversight, then had the nerve to lecture me on debit card use. Due to her nasty attitude and horrible customer service, I am closing my account there and using another credit union in 2014.

Not really for the "community" not willing to work with me on any issues. Save yourself the trouble and go someplace else. Of all the banks I've used they are the worst

Megan in corporate is amazing at her job and as a human. She helped my husband and I with finding a way for us to save money to be able to afford a fabulous honeymoon:) This great woman even sent us a congrats on our wedding card which was totally above and beyond what was expected and blew our minds while giving us chills reading the sweet card... she is truly a sweetheart and we will always remember Megan and OCCU for helping us when we needed it most and just being an all around great company to deal with. Thank You again Megan!! Jarod and Angela appreciate you!!

I was convinced by the person who did my car loan to do a consolidation to one of their credit cards. She insisted it would have an 18 month introductory rate, even though I questioned the term on my paperwork, I trusted that what i was being told was true. of course it was not! Of course when I called to talk about why my rate changed after only 12 months, they said the person no longer worked there! Go figure. Now I am fighting for a second time to make them give me what I was told ( only given that term when I was reluctant to go through with the consolidation). I hope they do the right thing this time. Do your research before you work with this credit union.

Justin Adkins

Poor customer service. They sell really expensive high pressure GAP insurance and could care less about the customer experience. I'd suggest a different credit union as there are many to choose from.

Crystal Romero

Never had any issues with this bank. Super friendly people, new location is spiffy, and yes the ATM is advancing. but 4 instead of 5 stars because that parking lot is tight! Small turns and heavy traffic flow. Yike.

Whitney Harley

Extremely poor customer service. Have been a customer for years and they are not the credit union I signed up for. The salem branch has an exceptionally creepy guy working there

Jarod Gonzales

This place will lie to you about loan requirements. They will then give you a bogus reason for denial. Ultimately they are too small of a business. I have a travel trailer loan with them already and it is a good rate. Anything else they suck. I went to twin star credit union and got the straight answer. Loan was approved for a lower rate and no bullish!! Excuse. Occu lies on the phone so they can pick and choose which loan they want to approve. Your credit score and debt to income ratio has little to no effect. I will not use this place again and never recommend them to anyone. I would have never applied for a loan with them again if they had told the truth to begin with. Bad business.

Right On

Very deceptive in my view, it appeared that you could apply for account on-line , didn't tell you that you would have to fax or email copies of redundant ID proofs and all the hoops that you would need to jump until after they got your info, plus I felt like I was bugging them seeking help. I would not recommended. ** Update** look at their BS response below. This is the type of stuff that ticks me off. Let me be 100% clear, this credit union threw away my business, due to their uncaring attitude and ignorance of basic security protocol, like wanting me to send irrelevant, yet sensitive info via email. If you have my up to date passport and DL and many other mail proofs, you dont need me to email you a photo of my SS card , especially considering its just a number on a flimsy card that can be photo shopped in two seconds! Its as if they lack basic common sense because they don't appear to care enough to think. Think twice before you trust these people with your life, ID, family and money !!

Stephaine Walker

This is the worst credit union I have ever dealt with. Every time I have to contact them I am on hold for AT LEAST 20 mins before I even get to speak to someone and then I am usually placed back on a long hold. The conversation I had with member services was lost in archive and was never handled until I called again. This time in particular the gal I spoke to was very rude and didn't even apologize for the mix up. They make everything very hard to do and I would never ever recommend them to someone looking for a credit union or bank. DON'T BANK HERE!

a ka

Charged me 4200 for insurance for 4 months had insurance the entire time..... Rip off do not get a car loan from these people.

Neil Castro

Used to have locations in Portland, but now I have to drive to Salem to get anything done. I have a personal line of credit, I thought the interest worked like a credit card. But the interest is applied per month not annually! I was never told of this.

Angela Neal

I would give them zero stars if I could. Received a notice that they don't have proof of insurance for my boat so I contacted Allstate. Allstate has all the documentation and the address they have sent insurance information to for the past 4 years. The notice I received has a different address, so we're guessing they changed it and didn't notify us. Allstate calls OCCU and they won't talk to him. Allstate is my representative that I pay with all the information that they could possibly want regarding insurance. I finally get the chance to call and am asked 5 or 6 security questions, including the name of the dealership where I bought the boat 4 years ago. I have no idea....but you know who probably has that information?? Allstate! I'm finally told to email the proof of insurance over to them and they will "review" it to see if it's valid and make a determination. The policy they purchased on my behalf was over $9k while Allstate charges me $290/year. Customer service? Zero Ease of getting answers? Less than zero Possibility that I would ever open another account with them? Not a chance in hell. Thank you Allstate. Apparently I am in good hands.
