This bank isn't as great as the locals say it is. I have been a member for about ten years. The first time I spoke with someone at Rivery Valley, I was inquiring as to my eligibility for a mortgage. Not having ever taken out a loan from a bank and only having one credit card, I had no idea what my credit report looked like. Come to find out there were a couple areas of improvement needed. The mortgage lady in the Brattleboro branch berated me in front of her trainee (the current mortgage guy in the Brattleboro branch). I mentioned this to one of the tellers and was told she could be a "little forward..." It was embarrassing to say the least. A few words of advise and a "Let's have this conversation when this is cleared up" would have sufficed. It's no surprise that when the time came to mortgage a house, I looked elsewhere. I had just gotten word that my June statements are needed by tomorrow. I jumped up and ran to River Valley only to find their lobby closes early. I waited in the line at the drive up window only to be met with disappointment. The teller refused to print two statements because of the line at the window. The only thing she had to offer was "Sorry, I'm not supposed to." Dire need and River valley falls through. It doesn't take that long to print a couple of statements. I will say the only thing that surprises me is that I didn't take my banking elsewhere after that encounter a while back with that mortgage lady. I'll be closing my accounts as soon as I am able to. "I'm sorry" doesn't cut it. You've just lost a customer of ten years.

I am basing this review off of their loans section, we bought a car through a bad dealer didn't own it a year and it died. We worked with Ryan to get into a safe car that runs really well. She went above and beyond to help us in this horrible situation!

Good bank. They know and remember you. However, if you use a debit card from there, you can't even download any apps, or update any apps even if it's free if your card is connected to your phone. If my card is below $5 it's basically useless cause it can't buy anything even if it is less than $5. It might just be my problem though.

just went there about 9:30 am Thursday morning. I just wanted to exchange some bills into larger bills. The place was full of people! Employees AND customers,;I don't have a account there so I asked a lady in the office if they'd exchange bills when i didn't have a account there, and she said yes they would, but when got to the counter and told the teller what i wanted THE FIRST THING SHE SAID WAS "do you have a account here?"... I'm presuming that the teller girl was less informed than the office lady. Either that or the teller was just making her own rules up as she went. I don't appreciate that type of inconsistency, in any business, but especially one that handles people livelihoods. So it's my first impression of River valley. a so I'm doing two stars

Would do 0 stars if I could bought a truck through Dodge and still had 20 day plates on it and broke down needs 4500 in work n the bank said the most they could do was call the dealership and never called me back and mellisa the one I got my loan through isn't answering my phone calls or calling back when I leave a message wouldn't go through them again n they r gunna have my truck in the driveway before my next payment cause I have to replace a bad transmission that was torn out of it before the dealership sold it to me with a corroded fuse box n transmission dipstick tube not even bolted to the transmission

I don’t think anyone cares about customer service. For sure not over the phone. Sometimes in person they seem to. Hit and miss. I have been a member for some years now and it’s not changed. Lol!
