It’s nice to feel like you’re back in the 80’s but their technology, in regards to convenience and ease of use, in obsolete. The people are nice but have made multiple mistakes with our account, ones that costed us several hundred. They’re weren’t willing to take responsibility for their actions, would not foot the bill, therefore we paid off all our accounts and took our money out. I recommend you do the same. The management ducked and dodged me for days. So this review was written and I closed my accounts. Will be contacting the FTC, BBB, and federal governing banking committee.

Waited in line for nearly an hour this morning just to take some money out and get a money order. Jarese couldn't figure it out, but he was in training so I tried to be kind even though he was in a hurry. He said he would ask his trainer. Instead of helping questions she kept asking him why he was doing things. Instead of getting me what I needed I waited even longer. Wasted my time and made me sit through an uncomfortable chewing out session. Warn your members before you run with all trainees, will not be doing business until that changes

Elisabeth Tittle went above (what I feel) her job by helping me resolve a problem I had with my joint acct w/ my daughter. She quickly and efficiently went to her boss and errectified all problems. Without going into detail, she saw the problem and ran with a solution which was very pleasing to me. It's very rare to have such good customer service these days. I have never had a problem with American 1 and plan to keep my $$ there. MS. Tittle should be considered an outstanding employee as well as an asset to your Corp.

I have been a member for a very long time. I checked my balance the other day and it said I had an available balance. I withdrew said balance because it showed it was available. Ling story short, 4 very small charge that had mysteriously not gone through yet that totaled $11.02 gave me for $25.00 over draft fees. So I find that more than a quarter of of paycheck is owed for $11.02. Taking my business elsewhere.

They do not report installment loans to any of the 3 credit bureaus. So I got a great rate on a loan for my speed boat but my credit is no better off. I should have stuck with a real bank on this one....

Been with them 16 years and taking my banking elsewhere. In last 2 years have been charged overdraft fees when i was not in the red 7 times. (They did refund them but i had to be vigilant and catch them first). Wanted to dispute a 500 dollar payment that my student loan company took feom me for a program i didnt qualify for. They wouldnt stop payment bc the loan company was a "legitimate business" but still reported my debit card stolen without telling me they would do it. So when i went to pay my phone bill a week later it was rejected and i got a late fee

This place seriously is the best! They closed at 4pm and we came in around 3:40pm to complete our car loan. We met with a gal named LONNIE, & despite all the work she had to do with us last minute, this chick rocked! She was very professional and helpful and made sure we knew all our best options & was very funny aswell! She never tried rushing us out of there as the building was emptying out and everyone was going home. She was knowledgeable and honest about everything & made this a great experience for us. We will deff not be doing business with anyone else there besides her from now on!

The time had come for our lease to end and I had talked with several lending institutions and was a bit discouraged. Then I contacted American 1 Credit Union. We've never had an account there personally, but I had contact through a guardianship/payee account that ended over a year ago. I spoke with Lynn Hoag on the phone and liked what I was hearing. My husband and I met with Lynn. She took the time to go over everything with us. She was thorough and patient with my questions. Not only did she help us with buying out our lease, but also with a couple other financial matters we had. My debit card number was stolen on a Saturday while I was working out of town and it has taken two weeks for them to get me a replacement. TWO WEEKs without any access to my own money. Keep searching for different bank because Chase took two nights when it happened with them. It’s embarrassing having to explain to people why I still need to borrow money two weeks after my card was shut down.

I was helped by Clay at the Union on Parnall Rd. I had gotten a call saying my account was continuously charged after it had no more in it while I was in at Louis and after I got back. I had 800 that was meant to buffer that trip and apparently had gone over it and didn't receive notification of any kind until it had reached almost $500 in overdraft. The total I had spent was something like 300 and the rest were fees for the charge being allowed. He called to see if he could any refunded due to the nature of the accident. I didn't have the app I had no way of knowing my balance was negative until I came back and went in. They refunded almost all the charges, but refused to remove all bc though I had no idea they still needed to profit. Clay did an awesome job getting part refunded and set me up a payment plan to take of everything. He was wonderful and provided excellent service while short staffed at the end of the day.

Being Modest

The staff are nice but the credit union itself is not for everyone. If your joining to build credit then this is not the place to start. They want people who already have established (good) credit. (Edit)I wanted a car loan (even though I already have a car that I own)just so I can build credit but you guys dont even report to the credit bureau. One star for wasting my time

I can't believe how long the title to MY car has been held by this credit union. It has been over 2 weeks since I paid for this vehicle with a LOCAL cashiers check. All American one had to do was call the other credit union that is less than ONE MILE AWAY to verify the check but they REFUSE to do so. And yes I know that can be done, my wife works for a credit union. The seller of the vehicle has tried multiple times to get this process moving faster to no avail. I now have 2 car payments because of this place. I've had multiple less than stellar experiences with this place, this is just the latest. Very glad to no longer have any accounts with them. Would give 0 stars if possible.
