I have tried relentlessly to contact them with no response. Mail, fax, email, multiple phone calls over several days. No one even answers the phones or attempts to respond.

Garbage monopoly. Companies like these are the problem with America! It's a horse and pony show!

Same thing happened to me as a few others on the reviews. My college loans went to this place. Neither one of my parents went to college so I really wasn't aware of how loans worked. Long story short they ended up in collections. Which is fine, however... I agreed to pay this place the 5$ a month for a full year. After that they told me I would be placed on the list to be able to go back to school. When I made my last payment they told me that they needed all of these documents from me. When I sent the the documents, they told me that I was no longer able to back to school and that I needed to start paying 75$ per month instead of the 5$ per month. The told me that the year would now start over... This place lied to me and others. They seem to have good customer service but I don't understand how they can get away with lying to so many people.

I got out of default for $0 monthly payments. I start work on my doctorate in 3 months. Thank you fh cann. You are the organization that truly changed my life. I'd love to volunteer some time to your organization so I can give back to society...

Worst company I’ve ever had to deal with. I talked to about 6 different people in 4 weeks and they all told me something completely different. They don’t care about anything except lying to you

If there was a way to post negative stars, it would be more fitting then the one I am required to give. I received a letter from this company last year.Because I would like to get out of default and repair my credit, I gave them a call.Spoke with rep who got my info and told me that my payment would be $211. Since that was cheaper than the $400+ payments I had been quoted before, I agreed and supplied my banking info.Once they received my check stubs, my payment went up to over $400.I called back, gave info again, and was given a payment amount of $257.I set up bi-weekly payments for that amount.I started getting alerts from Credit Karma and letters from US Dept of Ed about missed payments. This is every month! I call FH Cann back again. This time I’m told that since I’m only paying $257 they are basically taking almost 2 months of payments to make one $400 payment. I submit financial disclosure form and proof of income for my spouse and me. I still don’t understand why my payment is so high based on our take home pay so I call them again. This is when I learn that take home pay is not just what I bring home but any voluntary deductions, like 401k, as well which almost doubled our monthly income! I was sent Financial Disclosure form to adjust expenses and resubmit. I did this and sent it back since rep told me that if I got it back quickly the pay stubs (within 90 days) would still be good. When I called to check on status of recalculations, I was told that my payment amount was still $400+ which didn’t make any sense since my expenses had increased by $2000. I kept a copy of the disclosure form that I sent and went over it with the rep. Someone miskeyed one of my expenses as $100 instead of $1000! Rep apologized and corrected it. Told me that my new payment would be $136. Because I read some other reviews on here, I asked to have my banking info removed. Rep told me that it was and my payments would be postponed until he could send my paperwork up the chain for review. No payment came out of my account but I also still had not received the letter with new payment amount that would actually qualify my payments for rehab program. I checked my account yesterday, and a payment of $2,441.50 had been drafted from my account. Attempted anyway because I didn’t have it which resulted in a $30 NSF from my credit union.I called again and spoke with a lady who genuinely seemed concerned and just as confused as I was as to why that happened. While looking over my account, she noticed that my calculations still had not been done because when I made corrections on the Financial Disclosure form I failed to initial the total...not the corrected expenses just the total!!She entered my new expenses and emailed the form for me to sign. I faxed it back today, and called to verify receipt of the fax. I was then informed that now I have to submit a new pay stub for my husband because I have gone past the 90 days which will result in a new income calculation that I will have to call and follow up on just like I have with everything I’ve done with this company so far. There is no hesitation drafting money from my account, but all manner of slowness with everything else. I am beyond frustrated and the condescending manner in which I was spoken to didn’t help.I know I’m in default by no fault, but I am trying to take care of this. It would really help if the company that I dealt with showed some professionalism and respect for me as a customer.

My loan has been in default for a long time and I have been in wage garnishment for about a year. I stayed in garnishment even though I couldn’t afford it because I did not want to talk to anyone there. In the past, I have worked with incredibly rude people who would not listen to me at all. It was so frustrating. Today, I got up the nerve to call and was connected to Carlos A. He listened to me and helped me to come up with a solution. Words cannot explain how horrible this has been so to have someone truly help me was a relief. I just wanted to let you know he is amazing and so professional, it was a joy to work with him. I feel so relieved and it is all because of him. People always say when they have bad customer service, but I wanted to take this opportunity to share my wonderful experience.

Kitty Jefson

I would like to give zero stars, but they make you mark at least one. They said that after 9 months of consecutive payments that the loan would be taken out of default. Called today as it has been 10 months, and now they say that they will not take the loan out of default... what?!?! I understand that it got put in default by our own fault, but really, taking the steps to try and fix it, and they are not keeping their word. Worst company ever.

Brooke Trouten

I have called numerous times, always during business hours and have never been able to speak with a representative. The messages repeat themselves at least 3 times each.

for some reason the phone number i have has been disconnected i was calling bc they havent taken my payment out yet and cant seem to intouch with ppl as of today i have called 1800 number and the local number and they both have been disconnected can someone tell let me know whats going on?

What a nice place to work! I've learned a lot about business and the atmosphere is upbeat and friendly. If you're looking to start a career in the industry, this is a good place to do it.

We are very pleased with the results we received from F.H. Cann & Associates. We didn't want to destroy our relationship with our client. There were financial issues. The professionals at F.H. Cann & Associates came up with the perfect loan resolution to keep business flowing.

Why can't all collection agencies be like this?! These guys use the latest technology and actually treat people like people. Collections can be a nasty business, but FHC brings class and high performance. I'm glad my HR dept recommended we use them.

Very rude, no customer service skills. They give you the run around. They will take your money but will not send any paper work nor email me when asking to. I told the rep I needed updated Info and could not get that. I told the rep to place my monthly payment on hold until I receive a receipt , she then told me to hold. She returned after ten minutes, and told me she couldn’t place the account on hold and that her supervisor would have to but he’s on a call. Long story short US Dept of Ed need to get a new collection agency. I know I’m at fault for not paying, life happens, but if you’re going to have a 3rd party payer or agency representing them , they should be more customer focused.

John Farineau

They told me if I made five payments I’d be on my way out of default. I made five payments. Then they changed their story and said I had to make two more payments to get the letter stating I was eligible for financial aid. I made two more payments. Still no letter. They have no problem taking my money yet they can’t keep their word.

Priam Galbraith

I have to say that owing money you can't pay is not pleasant. FHC was helpful to me in working out a monthly payment schedule I could afford in order to re-pay debt I owed. They are a breeze to work with.

Question Everything

Been calling for a week during business hours and its keeps saying they are closed

Jen R.

Keep in mind, I have been out of college for some time. But just a couple weeks ago, this place calls me from an Illinois number. Normally I don't answer unknown numbers; I don't know anyone in Illinois; but I answered it this time. I spoke with a woman who was polite, but when I told her that I needed to look into this "program" a bit further (I had a feeling it was a scam), She immediately gave me to her supervisor, who then rather politely but aggressively told me that if I didn't agree to these terms & pay the $5/month for the rest of this year, into next year, that my paychecks could be garnished for up to 15% of my gross income. So I gave them the banking information for a card that I was using for my paychecks, and they got their $5. But since then, I have stopped using that card and switched to another bank. They have not and will not receive that banking information. They continue to call me, daily, sometimes several times a day, and send me a document to which I am unable to access via email. I never answer their calls & have most of the #'s they call from blocked. I have notified them several times that I am unable to open that document, as it requires an access code that I was never given. Do they respond & give me the access code or find another way for me to access that document? NO. They just send another email, with the document that I cannot access. No code, no explanation, no apologies for the trouble. Nothing. Just more emails from them that I end up deleting. It's starting to feel like harassment at this point & I'm getting fed up with it.

Hello everyone, I just want to offer some advice about this shady Collection company that Services the student loans for the department of education. Rule #1: Never, Never, Ever give out your personal banking information to these call agents. They will try to convince you that they will just automatically withdraw your payments from your account. Never give them your banking info over the phone. You can make your payments online at Myeddebt.ed.gov Rule #2: Don't make your payments UNTIL you receive your contract via email that explicitly states what your payments will be in order to get you out of "Default" status. The reason I say this is because if you read the fine print on FH Cann & Associates website it says that payments made PRIOR to you receiving your contract will NOT COUNT towards the amount of payments you need to make in order to get your loan out of "Default" status (usually 7 - 9 payments). Thus, you end up paying more than you have to in order to get your loan in good standing. Rule #3: When you make your payments online always save the receipts for your online payments. Follow this method and you will avoid being scammed like other people who educated me on what to do. Update: I'm finally out of "Default " status and didn't experience any mess following these rules. My 1 star rating is because I hate seeing the less fortunate being taken advantage of....

Donna McComis

Went back and forth and back and forth with them and I'm still getting garnished

Caitlin Gallagher

Not like I have much of a choice but to deal with them since I let my student loans go into default, however, nobody that works at this establishment seem to be on the same page. I have been making payments to get my Title IV loan reinstated so I can finish my last 2 semesters. My last "qualifying" payment should have been 15 days ago. But these people dropped the ball, and admitted to screwing my billing date up somewhere within the last 6 months. Not only did they do that, but they also "noted on the account" that one of my payments doesn't count. WHAT? So here I am, with no reinstated Title IV loan, not able to register for classes and I made one additional payment for the month of July only for them to tell me that I have to wait 2 weeks for this reinstatement letter to be sent to my school. Needless to say, I'm praying that someone with a semblance of competency can pull off a miracle and get this handled so that I can start classes in 2 weeks.

Wow , no one their know how to do there job. I been trying to get all this damn paperwork fill out . Sandy one of their work , walk me through each paper work that need to be fill out. After paying $24 , once again still missing paperwork. I would love if the CEO actually read these reviews.. Cause now I'm turning you guys in to department of education. You are here to help not to give use the running around .

Alexa Althoff

I would give them no stars if at all possible. They lie, don't do their jobs, get financial information WRONG (seems important, right?), and aren't even friendly. Worst loan holder ever. Get away from these bumbling idiots as fast as you can! So happy my loan transferred. They put in wrong info (overestimated my yearly income by over $20,000!!!!) for my income, said "I never sent them" paperwork when I absolutely did via both email and post office. They NEVER call me when something happens or changes. 99% of people I spoke to on the phone were irritable morons. FYI: My new loan is only $20 a month, whereas they tried to get me to pay over $500 initially but I forced them to go down to "only" $150 a month. I did not have one good experience. OH! I also just learned today they actually LIED to me because they said my payments will remain the same with my new loan holder. In lucky and they actually went down, but found out they CAN NOT promise that. This is after they completely ignored my email (that they had asked me to send) updating my income info. Stay away or just make absolute minimum payments until your loan transfers. Don't even get me started on trying to make payments...

Heattwave

Loan sharks that exploit student loan borrowers. A college student can take out loans worth $30k and this rat-infested company will garnish $100k of wages. How is this allowed in America? What sort of country have we become??

porsha meeks

I have literally been sending this paperwork into this company since last August that they require in order to get out of default, remind u they been taken my payments faithfully every month. I spoke to this so called manager names Curt Meyer and he was so rude, ignorant, and unprofessional and then during the recorded call kept putting words in my mouth and cutting me off. While talking about the payments he burst out with, well ill just note the account that you will like to stop making payments in which i NEVER SAID. Then i asked to speak to his manager because he just could not have an intelligent conversation with me what so ever!! So I spoke with his supervisor, Joe Behimer, which wasn’t any help. He never sent me the document in which he promised he would but it’s Friday so he didn’t care and was just in a rush to get off at 5. This company is the worst company i ever had to deal with. The department of education should definitely pick a new 3rd party company. It should never take a WHOLE YEAR to receive paperwork. I emailed, scanned and faxed it all in and each time they came back with we cant take this paperwork because blah blah blah since august of 2018. It is now June 7th 2019. Im definitely going to file a complaint with the BBB and post all these screenshots on social media that i took from sending these documents in. This is Ridiculous!!!! Even one star for this review is WAYYYYYY to much!!!!!!!

Brittany Sanchez

They can make you believe they are happening but can screw you over after a 3 weeks saying oh you have to pay more. Then when you ask for a sup they say they are going to tell you the same thing

Robert Paterson

F.H. Cann and Associates has been such a great resource for our accounts receivable management. They have several decades of experience and a team that is knowledgeable on best practices. Their success is our success.

Tony Pulis

We are so impressed with the services we have received from F.H. Cann and Associates. Their call center is staffed with well-qualified and knowledgable employees. Everyone works together for the same goal. We have had such a great relationship with them and our accounts receivable situation has never looked better.

Michelle Denise

I have set up payments. When I ask for payment dates and additional information after confirming I am who I say I am. For whatever reason not even a manay can give me accurate information on my account. I personally think this is a scammed.

Mike Nicholas

Quite possibly the worst company that exists. DO NOT talk to their agents. Call the US Department of Education first. Get the real deal on your loans before doing any business whatsoever with this company.

Suly Garcia

Worked for this company and let me tell you that this company is extremely Unprofessional. I would not recommend this company to anyone they fire people with no warning and make up any excuse as to why they should be fired.. I have never worked at a place that’s so unprofessional fire them all and hire new management.. don’t apply this job is not a good fit for anyone it’s all about favorites in this job..

jay money

Waste of time calling this place. Try to get honest answers, and they have no interest in that. Their ONLY goal is to try and weasel you out of your money. VERY dishonest, these people should be ASHAMED of themselves!

Patty Woods

We have had issues in the past with other accounts receivable companies and were concerned when we were looking for a new company. F.H. Cann and Associates relieved our concerns immediately. Their extensive knowledge of industry specific best practices have been such a relief.

Brittainy Bond

Worst experience ever they keep hanging up on me and don’t know any info abt my acct

Benjamin Anderson

Accounts Receivables can be difficult. You need to be careful to have the right people representing your company. We have been so impressed with F.H. Cann and Associates ability to strategize and implement the best accounts receivable option for us.

Anua Audley

We're in the shipping industry and hired FH Cann to help us with an outstanding debtor who owed us several hundred thousand dollars. They agreed to work on a contingency basis with us which was a relief. They helped us recover most of what we were owed and I was happy to pay their fee. We now retain them on a quarterly basis to help with our AR. Very pleased and highly recommend them.

Courtney Morgan

So glad I've wasted a year of my time and MONEY to these people thinking this was helping with my loan when in reality they were just taking my money. I talked to a very professional man from FAFSA and he said he has never heard of these people or this company. In the year I was paying these people, the interest racked up on my loan, now I owe even more. GREAT.

Thomas Wallace

F.H. Cann and Associates provided respectful care to our accounts receivable issues. Their ability to create and implement a plan was impressive. They offer a contingency-based compensation structure that was within our budget and were able to resolve the issues with professionalism.

Bryce Holton

They contacted me about a loan I had already finished paying off through the state months ago, what a joke/scam of a company. Good attempt though. Also, highly unprofessional spokeswoman. Don't get involved with these Jokers. Call whoever you normally pay through or who you owe before doing business with these clowns.

Jason Pinette

Update 10.31.17 Also Beware, they can not verbally confirm or deny that their collection fees and costs will be removed once you successfully rehab your defaulted school loans, even though on the DOE terms and conditions of the rehab program, says it will. One of their employees said they would remove it but his supervisor apologized in a later conversation stating on a recorded line he was wrong. Communication every time I call is still unnerving, being my accounts are split they still initially claim I've made no payments, even though they auto withdraw from my bank account monthly for the last 9 months. Also Beware, I think they are using number spoofing tech when calling borrowers and debtors, as well as telephonic communication tools to block or re-route numbers from VoIP or blocked number phones. Making it hard for the borrower to hold the government funded debt collector accountable by recording all conversations. I will update this if this changes but my MagicJack line, Line2, and Vonage all no longer work to contact this company. ........ I've removed my original review that laid out this companies incompetence in collection of payment, (which they rectified) and their lack of information on why there will be additional charges added to my account to rehabilitate this loan. I began my path to open a case to find answers with the help of my local government officials, I shared with them everything I had and my concerns. My concerns were as follows: 1. Collection fees seem like a way for this company to get paid for collecting on this account, similar to fees assessed by collection agencies who represent creditors. My questions were, what is this fee for and why is it assessed on my Government provided student loans? 2. The implication by this law firms csr that if I sign the financial disclosure, I might wave my rights to a borrowers defense against my Devry student loans. 3. No solid answers were provided for the above questions and I'm continuely being referred back to the Dept of Edu, and once I call and try to get a live person the auto line sends me back to FH Cann & Associates law firm. After about a month I get a letter from FH Cann and Associates, from their legal council in response to the government inquiry. The letter in response to the govt inquiry stated that their was no issue between me and them and they did not have any control or answers to why there was a $10,000 collection fee added to my student loans, the implication being that this was a Dept of Edu thing that FH Cann Associates have no control over. With this letter they also sent another request to fill out and sign the financial disclosure, as is, with no changes. (See attached screenshot to this review)

Cherish Costa

They attached a garnishment for my wages . They said if I signed a rehabilitation along with the payments that they would take the garnishment off of my wages. I've made two payments. I need a total of six. Why is mysteriously this paper I need to sign taking more than two weeks to come to me via e-mail? And every time I call oh sorry the system is down. Sounds like a bunch of scam artist to me.

Adam Pierre

Qwanda Simmons

Darius Gray

This is the most HORRIBLE experience I've had with any company. I can NOT get anyone to call me back for two months. I've been trying to contact them leaving voicemails and emailing. Even left the Department manager a voicemail with no response.

Emily Turner

We were in need of a reliable accounts receivable management company that would be able to handle our large amount of clients. F.H.Cann and Associates provided better than expected service. Their high standards reflected well on our business relationships.

Brandan Tremblay

If I was able to give zero stars I would there glad to take your money right over the phone but to get you paper work you need to take care of it is another hassel. I have called three times already trying to get my pay off amount faxed to me so I can send it to my bank to pay this off in full and every time I call I am told it will be 24 hours. This place is a joke and if I could I would say screw them and wait for it to transfer somewhere else to someone who actually wants to help

Rizzo Frea

These are the most DISGUSTING group of boys I’ve ever had to deal with. Not only did they HUMILIATE me for reaching out and calling THEM, but they laughed at me over the phone about my financial issues with student loans. When I reached out... to them. Not vice versa. I called willingly. Not being hunted down. So have some respect. I feel for ALL of you who have no choice but to deal with them as your loan provider. If anybody has any idea of how to have my loans transferred to a different provider please let me know. FH— DO NOT RESPOND TO ME.

Michael Brown

So I was pretty afraid of calling these debt collectors back, I defaulted on my student loan, I felt like I had no options. I think the girl I talked to was Alexis. She was really nice. I didn't give them my banking info. I did everything on my own through studentaid.ed.gov ... So far it's been a pleasant experience and I am way less stressed now that I talked to them.

Got me a shovel, doing some digging on how this company scams cheats lies and dose the books . big suit coming your way.

Bobby P

I called and setup a payment arrangement with this company & they told me to make double payment to count for 2 months, LIES! When I called the Department Of Education, they told me the double payment thing will NOT count for 2 months. They lie! Horrible company. I tried calling this company to get an answer and now no one picks up the phone

alyssa bakke

They never answer the phone or return voicemails. They stress how crucial it is to get required documentation to them yet never follow up with you. This company sucks!

Edwin Vasquez

Jarred sepeda

Sean Mercer

Spoke with an associate trying to settle my debt. He lied to me trying to get me to pay a higher settlement cost(and he was not the first person to give me a higher cost). Then he continued to interrupt me on the phone and speak condescendingly and mock what I was saying on the phone. I later, after repeatedly calling, asking to speak with a manager, was told “there is no manager on duty”, I finally got a call from a manager, or so I told. I was told that he, the rep, walked over to the supervisor and asked her to call me. This was the second time that I caught the rep lying to me. Why would he say “there is no manager on duty” yet when the manager called me she said that “the rep walked over and asked me to call you”. Either the rep is a liar or the manager wasn’t a manager, only a rep pretending to be a manager. Either way this sounds like a company full of liars and thieves. I could give the name of the rep that acted in such poor taste and professionalism, but I am not going to not going to stoop to the level at which I was treated on the phone. The company knows who I am speaking of, and if they want to reach out to me with an apology, it could only help their case(not hard to move up on the totem pole of professionalism after being on the very bottom....no where to go but up as they say). Yet I doubt I will ever get as much.

Samantha Sinn

If this company calla hang up immediately I worked here and they are a scam they are predatory and the lady who dies the training she is in her fifties I forgot her name but she is rude and fires people on the spot for no reason

A D

if it was possible to leave a negative star I would. This has to be the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. First of all the customer service is by far the worse (Id rather speak with comcast 10000 times before speaking to anyone from here) Second they have no idea what they are talking about. I called asking a questions was told I wasnt able to, okay fine then got a call back saying my loan was already out of the rehab program and asked "what do you want to do about this" and then "oh wait my manager is coming over okay so you are all set" my response " thanks for the freakin heart attack" the rep then laughed. yep she LAUGHED. If you have to deal with them and its for a student loan, get the loan into a rehab program, make the payments on time and try your hardest not to call them.

Finlay Dodson

Bad debt is like an albatross hanging around my neck. FHC's team takes the pressure off me and my accounting staff by handling the collections for us. I'm very happy we changed from our prior agency.
