Due to extenuating circumstances, I had to take a car loan with People's Credit 3.5 years ago. I made every payment on time or early and at one point I was paid ahead over 6 months on the loan. I refinanced the car loan 1.5 years ago and continued to make every payment on time or early. This month I paid off the entire balance which was just over $3000. People's Credit kept a second key fob 3.5 years ago at the time of my original purchase. I was expecting to receive this second key fob when I received the title but according to Angie, Carina and George, the key is nowhere to be found. I was also informed by them that they are not responsible for returning anything after the loan is paid off outside of the title. Despite the amount of money People's Credit made off of my loan, they were unwilling to even admit they lost the key fob and were not willing to replace it. I hated having a loan with People's Credit. George and his staff are very unprofessional and do not treat you with respect. Instead, they hold you hostage because they have a loan with your name on it and you are most likely in a compromised financial situation. I was treated very poorly especially considering I met and exceeded all terms of my loan and even paid it off early. If you want to be bullied, yelled at, hung up on, misled and taken advantage of, this is the loan company for you. If not, run!

People's credit, has been of great help to my and my husband. We have been with them for 8 plus years and paid off many loans never a problem. All the girl's in the office have been kind to me everytime I call to make a payment or for a new loan. I never had a problem getting approved for a new loan right over the phone. I call talk to George about my new purchases and he's very honest about it. Even tho sometimes I disagree:) But all and all People's Credit, has always been Great with me and my husband. The worst company! We got a loan so my son who is 18 could get some acquired credit, well this was in March and I called in March because account was not even reported, and the girl who answered( mind you very hard to understand)said give it 30 days, well we did and after 60 they reported the account, now I have been calling in since April, May and now June,So I call back this Monday June 26 th and talk to Shelby and she said I will have the guy all you back, not sure wich "guy" but a guy nevertheless. I called because my car was repossessed, the girl Angie was horrible and had a attitude right from the start. I asked to speak with the Manager George who laughed at me and hung up the phone! I called back and Angie picked up again and told me that George didn't want to talk to me and no one working there wanted to talk to me! I never missed a payment and If I was going to be late I would make payment arrangements. I wasn't far from paying my car off when they took my car. Horrible people. Yes I did make my payments on time despite what the Manager George says! I have proof that says otherwise. It's funny to see all these paid reviews. SMH!! I would give this place zero stars if I could! One of the girls working there was nice.

I have been doing business with George and his staff for well over a decade. What people need to understand is the loans through People's Credit are high interest. They are there for those of us who have fallen on hard times and aren't able to get a loan through traditional means. You entered into a contract where they loan you money after agreeing to pay it back with interest and hold a vehicle as collateral. If you don't pay, they take the collateral. This is not a new concept! As with any creditor, if you keep in contact with them about any troubles making a payment, they will work with you.

This place is complete garbage. Customer service completely sucks and has a horrible attitude. They’re not organized and all over the place. They don’t care about their customers. I don’t recommend getting a loan here at all. They take forever with everything they do. Never will I go here again.

I make my payments and have never had a problem whatever girl answers for me to make my payments is always nice...I feel like the people that write these bad reviews just don't pay their bills what do you expect to happen? And yeah its high interest but you got that because of your credit score they're helping you by giving you a loan in the first place use it to fix your credit and quit complaining

We really needed a car and while the interest was a little high because of our lousy credit, they came thru and helped us get a vehicle. And then when my wife was diagnosed with cancer/tumor/blood clots last year when we contacted them to know of the hardship and that money was going to be tight for a few months they let us send in interest payments until we got back to work and on top of that while money was tight and we were late on payments we would call and talk to the girl in the office and they never gave us a hard time as Iong as she knew we would have a payment out asap. Speaking from personal experience with this company, along with other testimonials, I'm writing this review as a public service. No one should have to deal with the dishonesty and unprofessionalism of The People's Credit. Regarding reposession, I advise you to check your local statutes (laws). I'm not an attorney or legal representative, but I know that the consumer has rights. In Illinois and Wisconsin specifically, you have to be at least one month behind on payments to have your vehicle repossessed. If they come to repossess, don't worry. You can simply tell the 'repo guy' you are not letting them take your vehicle (assuming you're present at the time of repossession). If they don't comply and repossess your vehicle anyway, even though you clearly said 'no', they are in violation of breaching the peace, which means you can sue the finance company and you'll probably win (especially if you record the incident on your phone). Make sure you are calm and clearly state that you do not give permission to repossess your vehicle. Do not, under any circumstance, use verbal battery or violence. They cannot open any gate, fence, garage, or other barrier containing the vehicle - locked or unlocked. They cannot open and enter your property without your permission. In Wisconsin, the creditor must send a notice of repossession by certified or registered mail, and give you 15 days to comply before coming to repossess. Again, if they do not follow the law, you can sue for damages. If you choose to sue, you could possibly get the vehicle back, as well as not have to make any additional payments, get all previous payments paid back to you, and attorney's fees. Again, I am not a lawyer, nor do I have any ties to any law firm or counsel. I'm doing this because too many people get taken advantage of without repercussion to creditors like The People's Credit. Please, check your local laws from trusted .gov websites. Exercise your liberties. Take legal action when necessary. Know your rights!

Great friendly staff have had several loans with them and no problems. Simple pay your bill and you'll have no issues but of course its the banks fault. Will continue to do business with them. Honest and trusting will do anything to help you if you help yourself by making your payments on time. Some people need to take responsibility and quit blaming other people. Don't pay your rent you get evicted but it's ok to not pay your car and blame the bank. THEY actually work with you if you let them know what is going on and don't ignore them when they call. I have worked in the industry for 7years and one thing that will get your car taken is don't communicate with the bank. They are probably the only bank that would buy your loan anyways quit complaining and blaming them for your mistakes.

This place needs to be closed down and these people need to go to jail. They repossessed my car too saying I didn't make my payments but I did and I have proof. I found out the car never even had a title! I've reported them to the BBB. They totaled my car when in was in their possession.
