This is their only location, and there are basic services they cannot do here. So if you become an Alliant member, you need to also have an account with another bank or credit union.

Refinanced my car at an excellent rate, bought a new car with a great rate, and opened a 0% APR with no transfer fee credit card all with one credit pull. The process was easy and completed almost entirely by email. If you can provide the loan documents immediately the funds are available same day.

What a nightmare it is to get any customer service out of this bank! I used them for an RV loan and every interaction has been unpleasant to downright frustrating. I have a joint account, but any time my wife calls in they make me get on the phone. Anytime I call, they want to know the info on the joint account holder. I sent a large wire transfer from my bank to pay off my note, then called to follow up on it. Instead of applying to the loan, they deposited the payment into my account! I asked them to apply to the loan please, and they said they are going to hold it for 5 days (even though it is a wire transfer)! So much for making the deadline on a 10-day payoff!

DO NOT USE THIS CREDIT UNION!! I've been a customer for three years. I've had a car loan, credit card, savings account, and checking account with Alliant Credit Union and I'm extremely disappointed in the service they provide. First, they close all branches except for Illinois which means good luck getting a hold of someone on the phone. The hold time is usually 5+ min. Then when someone finally answers if it's a weekend they can't help you activate a card or answer most of your questions since they state there main customer service center is closed until Monday. They also don't take cash at any branches, they give you different answers about your banking needs each time you call, and overall they never resolve your problems. I'll be calling on Monday to close all of my accounts!

Terrible bank. Gave me a credit card worth $500, even though I had over 800 credit score! Then, they take payment information from one time payments and use it to make payments to your card, on your behalf, without your consent!

My favorite place to store money and use their debit card on my foreign vacations. They charge only 1 % for foreign cash withdrawals, whereas Citibank, Chase, or AMEX charge 3 % or a high flat fee (I remember Citi did a few years ago). They also give a higher interest for checking and/or saving accts. Anyway, I love it.

Within less than two months of joining Alliant, I somehow accumulated over $700 in fees for purchases that were declined and not covered by overdraft. I attempted to resolve this because it completely blew my mind, but essentially money that was being deposited into the account was put on hold for a random length of time and sometimes it would show up as part of my balance and sometimes it wouldn’t. Vendors would retry payment after rejection and long story short, Alliant just took advantage and made a cruel profit. I’m not irresponsible with money nor was I attempting to pay for things that couldn’t be covered by the balance. I have to not only report them to the better business bureau but now I’m looking at legal options as I have seen class action law suits filed against them.

How is one supposed to do serious business with a financial institution that "misplaces" your initial deposit check, refuses to search for it the first time you call ("the entire department is in a meeting"), fails to look for it after the meeting is over, fails to return the promised phone call, and then mysteriously "discovers" the check in the wrong department when you call the next day?

Having a home mortgage with this company is beyond miserable. They are constantly calling and 90% of the time barely know what they're calling about. They have too many departments and none of them seem to talk. I would highly recommend going in another direction when getting a home loan.

I worked with Alliant Credit Union on a home loan recently and was completely disappointed by the experience. I decided to write a review hoping it will prevent future home buyers from having to go through a miserable experience like the one I had . BUYER BEWARE!!! My loan officer was lacking in every respect, even bordering on incompetent. He was a poor communicator...was dishonest at times...and just lousy at his job. As a facilitator for one of the most important processes a future homeowner will go through he failed completely. Let me list the issues that I had with this company and be careful that you don't fall into the same traps: Loan officer never answered his phone. I would leave a message and he would contact me a day or 2 later or sometimes not at all...this was also the case for my realtor. My loan officer initially gave me a rate a sheet when we started on the loan process then later stated that rate sheet was no longer valid...and the terms had changed...so much for good communication skills In the final loan...he added a quarter point fee that was never mentioned...and then he lied saying that it was discussed...I ended up asking for a copy of the transcripts of our recorded conversations and that was only available with a court order. Just plain dishonesty...and a lack of transparency. He LIED regarding the loan negotiation. The final issue came the afternoon prior to closing. I was contacted by phone only 16 hours before the closing and was told there was something wrong with the appraisal and it would not close for another week...WOW...thanks for heads up Alliant. I took a day off from work and had already wired the closing funds. They had to know there was an issue sooner than a day prior to closing but no one could pick up the phone an advise me sooner than that? This is just incredibly inept on their part. So much for good customer service. All I can say is that I have closed on 6 different loans in my lifetime and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. Avoid using this company for your loan obligations...there are much better lenders out there that can take good care of their customers in an honest and transparent manner. I have been a member of Alliant Credit Union for about 23 years and I can say there retail banking has been excellent...but due to the nightmare of this loan process I have moved all my banking needs to another provider. I will not be involved with crooked loan officers and the managers above them. Again...BUYER BEWARE with this institution.

Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. 20 minute wait for a rep, followed by another 15 minute wait for a supervisor I tried to adjust my automatic payment for my car loan (you'll have to wait for them to fax or mail you the form so you can then mail it or fax it back), and was told "I apologize that two different supervisors were wrong about this, unfortunately we're going to take 3 car payments across 2 weeks and there's nothing I or anyone can do". DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! RUN!

Save yourself a headache and take your money elsewhere. Each time you call member service, you will be advised a different answer. Finally, after getting 3 different answers from 3 different representatives...I was not a happy camper. Unfortunately, with Alliant...if you upset the member service rep, they will sabotage your account. They reported my debit card as lost and I was left with no access to money until a new debit card could be ordered. Needless to say, I will not be ordering a new card and will take my money elsewhere. I was a member for over 3 years and feel terrible that it came to this. I had even transferred credit cards and checking into this credit union and it will certainly be a hassle to rid myself of them. But well worth it.

They should be ashamed of how they are conducting business. No return phone calls or emails if you applied for loan. I worked with 3 different officers same thing. Emails stating they will send documents and nothing. I will be filing a complaint because this is unacceptable and I don't want to be a part of a business who conducts themselves this way. UPDATE: After speaking with a manager he took care of the issues and made sure everything was handled. He also apologized for the way my services were previously handled. As of now, everything is going smoothly no issues at all. Only fair to update the review but credit goes to him.

The worst service in the world !!! They lie to you and tell things are fixed and they are not, they lie to you and tell you someone will call you back, they don’t !!! They lie to you and tell you that they can’t help you because it’s a different department, wrong they can help they just don’t want to! I have been patient and calm and trying to understand the issue but today when I was lied to AGAIN that’s it, I won’t be lied to repeatedly by a company that has my money and is supposed to be a bank that works with me and my needs. Stay clear from this bank for personal accounts they just flat out don’t care about anybody !!!!!!!!

Very disappointing experience. They advertise a joint account but its in name only. Only person can have online access, pay bills, or withdraw money . Switching to a different bank within 6 months

terrible company with gross incompetent personnel who cannot explain their own numbers but will increase your monthly mortgage payments and ignore your requests to provide details. they can withdraw double of the monthly payment from your bank without telling you. if you send the payments with checks, they will hold it back and apply after the due date to charge you late fees. HORRIBLE company. stay away. if your mortgage broker suggests this company for mortgage, FIRE your broker.

I've been a member of Alliant Credit Union for many years. I have a relative that works there. Even if she didn't, it's a good institution. They just raised the the interest rates they pay out to 1.45% on savings and .65 % on checking. It's fully liquid and there are not any fees. They really don't have any branches but the mobile app works great for deposits and the debit card works great to take money out.

This review is for their online banking side...Draconian strict banking policies. Difficult to work with, even though you are an A+ Customer. They change policies willy nilly on you and keep changing their criteria... Frustrating and Difficult. I could have 1 million in deposit, and they'll still want to hold my funds for 5 working days.. .complete nonsense... Recently.. just got a letter from them saying that I'm using their Credit Card too much! I pay 100% on time and in full.. and they're complaining that I use it too much and may close my accnt because of my level of activity. Never late, in fact... always paid early.. and often... CRAZY BANK. UNHEARD OF... ** Response from Alliant ** - It's for member security? Bogus reasoning... It's all about Alliant's security.. has nothing to do w/ the members... How can you put good members through so much security pat downs? It's crazy! Unlike any bank I've ever dealt with.. and I've dealt with them all... Update - 4/2/18 - Since posting this review, they have closed my account. Mind you.. My credit is stellar, my pmt is 100% full and on time. The worst Credit Union/ Bank I have ever dealt with. Mind boggling...

Terrible bank to do business with! They will rip you off in a heart beat even with great credit score!! The employees are awfully obnoxious and sickening!! No customer service at all and can hang up on you as they please!!! Avoid them at all cost!! I'm ecstatic to have closed and switched to another bank!! My experience with them was filled with stress and ordeal! Very deceitful bank filled with deceitful employees and shady business modus operandi.

I rarely write reviews, but I don’t want others to make the same mistake I did. We got a car loan with Alliant in 2016 and not once have we had a pleasant experience with them. Their customer service is the worst I’ve ever encountered. ( And I’ve worked in the customer service industry for a long time) at the end of 2016 My family and I moved, meaning we switched addresses. Alliant credit union has repeatedly failed time and time again to update our address and get angry with me when they realize our address isn’t ‘up to date’. I could go on and on about the horrible service we’ve recieved there. But bottom line, chose another bank. Any. Bank. You cannot expect anything positive or helpful from this company. They are horrible.

Terrible online loan process. Applied for $7k personal loan and was approved for $2k!?!? Really? Strong FICO, established credit, minimal debt, impeccable payment history, savings account, etc. After months of researching credit unions , I chose Alliant. I’ve been a customer for over a year. I’m now re-evaluating that choice.

One of the most foreign-friendly US financial institution. I opened account using their paper form application, mailed in, got my account opened up, some quick follow up and voila, everything is reachable within clicks using their online platform. Alliant is a member of Co-op and MoneyPass, I do get money access virtually everywhere, including in person services from shared CUs.

Just joined the credit union last month with an auto loan. After sending in all the papers and getting the title sent over from preivous lienholder, I get a call in my voicemail on August 29th from Alliant saying that it looks like the sales tax was already paid on the car, and that it looks like they owe me money. After hearing the voicemail, I then call them to see what this is all about. I get a representative on the phone, explain that a previous person left the message, and he confirmed that I will get reimbursed. Sounded good to me. He said the deposit should hit my bank account soon, so I then wait for it. September 10th comes around. I have yet to receive the funds promised in my bank account. I decided to give Alliant a call. After explaining the situation to the customer service rep, she does a little bit of digging, and apparently couldn't find anything about it. She says that the sales tax wasn't paid, and that I won't be getting a deposit as I was previously told. That is what ticked me off. Why would they call me and tell me I was going to be getting a reimbursement on sales tax that they said had been already paid? So basically I've been waiting for a deposit in my savings account that was never going to be there, and wasted my time calling them about this. Definitely not having a good start with them.
