REVIEWS OF Columbus, Wisconsin Public Library IN Wisconsin

The local library in Columbus is wonderful. Really cool old building with a lot of history that has been updated to keep it modern for all the youth that come into the Library. The book selection is nice for the size of the library, and the staff are more than helpful when it comes to finding a book either on the shelf on to be ordered. The new head librarian is bringing some really amazing energy to the library with her outreach to the public and the youth of the city. I enjoy keeping tabs on the dinosaurs as they wreak havoc in the library during the winter. Looking forward to seeing how they use the next annex. Definitely stop by to sit by the fire and read a book!

Amazing place for community engagement. Staff is super friendly and patient. Great programs for kids and they are really knowledgeable!

This library is acceptable for patrons, but I would be wary of accepting a position of employment there. They have not been able to retain a children's librarian, and those frequent staff changes are difficult for children and their families. Should you choose to work here, be aware that your schedule must be retail-level flexible, and make a priority of securing your next position quickly, as you will need it. Do not expect director or board support as you will get none. Families would do well to utilize the Sun Prairie library instead, which has both better staff retention and much better facilities and program offerings.

Spend most of the time in the kids area which is very well run. Play table has different themes depending on when you visit ranging from train, dinosaurs, Legos, cars and I presume more. Activities range from infant reading time to Lego club, Pokemon, reading to therapy dogs, sleepovers for stuffed animals and much more. They have a big selection of books locally, and through Linkcat, they can source books from other libraries as they become available which is great. There are a few computers set up for varying age ranges. Solid library of childrens movies for rent. There is a meeting/community room in the basement with an elevator as well. Multiple entrances including handicapped entry. There are k-cups available for purchase if needed, but Sharrows coffee is a block away and probably a better choice. Upstairs looks pretty standard for a library. Ample seating, computers with internet access, lots of magazines/newspapers. There is a good amount of historical and local books that probably offer insight into some forgotten history. Recently, they added an annex building which shares a parking lot. A beautifully redone house, I believe they are mostly artist studios, at least initially. Not sure what else they are doing with that space.
