Great place but beware the LOUS -- Librarians of Unusual Sassiness. They guard the information desk in the lobby but they are known to be quite mobile. Some of the other staff are the kindest sort. It's really a wonderful library.

The library conference rooms are lovely, and Room 1 is especially well lit and spacious. Just be prepared for Librarians with an Attitude. An unexpected snow fall cause 3/4 of my attendees to cancel and she actually told me that 6 people using their large room for 5 hours was a "travesty." So no grace will be given if you do not have the appropriate number of attendees per verbal agreement and yet they will not ask/offer you to move to a smaller room. And you will apparently be responsible for the librarian's distress of having to turn other people away who did not make their reservations in a timely manner. Also note: if you plan to be there for more and 4 hrs make sure to register your car at the information desk. There is a parking monitor chalking cars and it's worth a $40 ticket if you don't register your car.

This is a gorgeous library in downtown Bellevue, with easy access to the Bellevue Transit Center. Comfy chairs are on every floor, and there's internet access and computer stations for those who need it. I love coming here and spending an afternoon reading. I do agree that the parking is notoriously challenging, especially on the weekends, but the library is working on increasing parking and it's easy to walk over from a bus.

One of my favourite places to go and work or generally spend time browsing. I am a patron on this library and enjoy being part of the variety of special sessions they have to offer from Lego Club on Wednesdays to Film Festival viewings to Opera lectures! Recently, did an art walk around the library and realized it wasn't just a store house of knowledge but also some enjoyable public art. Must visit, if you are in the Bellevue town!

Gorgeous, clean, spacious library right in downtown Bellevue. There is ample, free parking in the attached garage for up to 4 hours. The wifi is fast and there is a variety of seating options and meeting rooms.

Huge library with great children's area. It has to be one of the busiest libraries in the kcls, always a ton of people in and out. My only complaint is that despite the huge space and tons of seating the seats always seem to filled up with homeless folks so it's hard to get a good seat.

This is a big old wooden cabin-like-feeling library! Great for group events and up to 4 hours of free parking. The parking lot is underground, ground level, and outside into a small field. It belongs to the "Old Bellevue" part of Bellevue, not renovated and shiny like the "New Bellevue." I think they are working on renovations. They have 3 levels of books and study spaces. Other King County Libraries that I've visited around Seattle are not usually this large, but they do have a newer/ up-to-date cleaner feeling. Do you want books and spaces to be alone? This is a good easy spot without needing to hunt for one. Air-conditioning in the summer here doesn't feel cold, but it's more bearable than outside, especially on the second level under the vents.

I have been going to this library my whole life and have enjoyed it always. The problem with this library was that there was never enough parking. Lately they are doing construction on the parking lot. This is good because it will make it bigger but in the meantime there is only 30 or so parking spots which is not enough. This would be a higher score but because of the parking restrictions it is not. Once the parking is fixed this will be an "excellent" rating, but until then it is "very good".

I have always loved libraries but unfortunately I don't have great things to say about the Bellevue library. We were denied a library card on our first visit bc we are not property owners and will be in the city for less than a year. They did issue a visitor card but limited our check outs to 2 at a time. Then after already feeling like a second class citizen, my toddlers were approached by a librarian who told them to quiet down, etc. My kids have never been chastised for just being kids, particularly in the children’s section, which is for kids to learn to love reading and love being in a library! I am so disappointed, especially after visiting the Seattle library system, which was a night a day difference. They Issued is a library card, let my kids be kids, and let us take any board book home no questions asked and no checkout required.

This is my favorite library of all the ones I have been to in King County. Excellent selection in the library, clean facilities, understanding staff and "The Corner Book Shop". The latter is especially fun to browse and purchases support "Bellevue Friends of the Library", that subsequently use it to fund library events and activities.

A great library for the young and old alike. I've been getting many books and videos for myself and my toddler. I've been buying less books because of this nice library, a real benefit, so props to King County Library System. Taking my toddler here has been a great experience without exception, including the nice story times for kids. If you aren't used to a few homeless people in a public space, you might be surprised that they exist here. If you have been outside of Bellevue or other hyper-affluent cities, you will almost certainly have no worries.

Way too noisy. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was full of screaming kids. I like the old fashioned quiet librarys where i can actually get some work done. Not a playground. I had to leave i couldnt focus in there. I give at least 3 stars because they do have quiet rooms where you can get away from all the noise. I just prefer libraries to sound like libraries and not malls.

This library is super nice, except for one major weakness: internet speed....I thought it's my laptop, but after three times in 3-month span I come here to study, I realize it's the library, since other kids complain about the same thing. So sad, a library in a rich neighborhood with Microsoft nearby and can not afford a better connection.

I love this library and have great memories from here. I don't however care for the homeless taking up space to sleep, make a small home for the day and leaving a stench that is unbearable. I also have seen same said people come out of one stall in the bathrooms. I don't mean to limit their growth of knowledge, but it really is not fair to have very bad hygiene , bad habits and make others suffer.

It's a great library that I take full agvantage of 3-4 times per month, being that I only live a few blocks away. Great selection of books, computers and good place to do your homework. However, the homeless people being able to take over and "fake read and sleep" at tables, chairs and computers is ridiculous. I don't think anything can be done about it but it's unfortunate for those who would really benifit from using the Bellevue Library instead of walking to the nearest coffee shop for a place to study because there isn't any more space available.

Downgrading my review from 5 to 2 stars. The facilities are still outstanding with ample parking, location, etc., all of which make this one of my favorite public libraries. My interaction with the staff have always been great as well. However, there seems to be a transition of tolerance that allows the library to be used as a sort of halfway house. Previously one of my reasons for choosing downtown to live, the library is quickly becoming a reason to move. Chairs that once would be filled with patrons reading books are now used for sleeping hours at a time. Once a fun place to go with my daughter has turned to more of a security risk than it is worth. This cannot be simply my opinion, as the number of Bellevue PD patrols within the library have become more of a norm than not. No worries though, the number of open drug deals appear to be unaffected. Although I do still recommend checking this place out, you simply need to pick a day that is warm and sunny for some odd reason. Whatever you do, do not arrive within an hour of closing as the library becomes an exodus that fills the streets of the downtown corridor with vagrants searching for an apparent place to pass the night until the doors open allowing re-entry for sleeping and repeating the process. I understand complaining without offering a solution is not going to help, and after all, this is a public facility funded by public funds. So how about this: Enforce the policies that already exists on facility use that include 1. No sleeping 2. Hygiene that is overly offensive to other patrons will not be tolerated. Just start with those 2. Have the bellevue PD that frequent the library enforce those at a minimum. Then have them work on the no drug deal rule, if that even exists.

The children’s area has been renovated and moved upstairs to the third floor as of Sept. 2018. This is the largest library in the KCLS. They have a much better selection due to their larger size. They have a story time room (see Librarian Larry reading our group a book). They give tours where you can see the machines that sort the books when they are returned. They have a lot of programs for kids, teens and adults. Love this place!

The physical _facility_ is great, five stars. Regretfully, the comments are increasingly concerned with groeing numbers of homeless (?) people who use the library for a sleeping area throughout the day. I agree that it is becoming a problem, particularly when there is not enough spaces for patrons looking to utilize the facility's library services. The sonorous snoring of the sleepers is sometimes very disturbing, particularly in the "quiet" areas; the staff just ignores requests for help with this issue. Maybe including "day dormitory" rooms in future renovations could address this better? ;-) Also, the quality of staff is degrading, with increasing frequency of uncaring, uninterested, outright rude "librarians," who seem irritated about being even addressed. Another reviewer refered to "prickly" staff and I agree with that accurate description. There are some great librarians and caring staff still at KCLS and at this facility, but fewer and fewer as time goes on. All of these problems, however, are becoming common in all KCLS libraries I visit. The services like computer access, Internet, book and video collections, and the like, are outstanding at this library. This is also true of all the KCLS libraries I visit. I visit this library once or twice a week, and one of the KCLS libraries three to four times a week, on average.

This is a great library. The selection is wonderful. The children's section is the best. They have a story time room with the cutest kids entrance. My kids love going to the library! The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the library is kept clean and well organized. There are plenty of chairs and tables to hang around, and they have study rooms as well. Self drop boxes make returning books quick and easy. The library has its own parking structure. This is definitely my go to library.

Very nice and calm ! except the toilet compartment is so open that anybody can see you pupping :) *man’s (frankly, even though it is made like this for any terror issues, this is just too much.) And too bad for smokers. Designated area is so ambiguous and is very close to the entrance so almost all pedestrians get anger :)

I visited the Bellevue Library, part of the King County Library System, in order to film the public areas and test if this location of KCLS respects the supreme law of the United States, as well as their own mission and values statements. The library did excellent and it's representatives were friendly and helpful.

Probably the best library in the state. Huge place with three levels, huge inventory of books DVDs newspapers magazines research material and the like. Plenty of computer stations, always easy to reserve. Librarians and staff are helpful. Was recently renovated a few years back and now there is plenty of parking, with a huge underground parking garage, more parking up top. Plenty of nice study rooms inside if you need to study. It's all clean and well maintained.

Love this modern-looking and feeling library! I only have good things to say: convenient online access to the catalog and reserving resources (books, rooms); convenient opening hours; easy access from public transit; free printing for library card holders; wide variety of resources (books, CDs) that can be checked out. Although I haven't attended any, I also love that there are a wide variety of events at the library for both kids and adults. This library system embodies a lot of the fine attributes I think the great libraries have!

Arguably the best library branch in the King County Library system. The place is huge with a special third level just for kids, meeting rooms, reading nooks, ample tables and chairs, computer units (for adults and kids), multilevel parking for patrons, and a snack area with vending machines. The library staff are friendly and helpful. The collection is expansive that you can spend hours and get lost in browsing the shelves in all three floors. A must stop for all.

This is a lovely older library with a large and extensive collection. It's in the crowded downtown area (walking distance to the high rise tech buildings) so free parking is limited to 4 hours without expressly requesting additional time. There are meeting rooms, study rooms and computers available to be reserved on a first-come, first-served and reservation basis.
