Love the layout, and design of the building, though it is the loudest library I have ever been to. Lark library is better for studying, if you are looking for a quiet place. If you are looking to do a team conference, Mcallen library is great as it is loud and everyone speaks loudly here. In several occasions, I have seen kids, and teens running around like the library is the adequate place to treat as a playground. (and no, I was nowhere near the kids or teens secton.) I guess people need to be told to act properly at the library since people also tend to answer phonce calls and do not have the courtesy to remain quiet at a library. I mean, how crazy does it sound?having to ask or tell people to act properly at a library. A suggestion would be to add some signs to the wall to keep the essence of what a library is, and what it should be like, or maybe I am a complete "mean person" who is not aware that this is the only library where you are able to able to be as loud as you would like. Also, the closing procedure seems to be a little harsh, I mean, they turn off the light 30 min before closing. No, I am not joking, I would think the library would know that this is a liability as elder people come to the library as well and can trip if they cannot see. If you decide to stay within that 30 min timeframe before closing, Julia the rudest person, will tell you "it is time for you to go" and will keep coming to your spot to tell you to leave until you eventually do.
I would love to be able to walk in into this library and be able to experience the real essence of being in a library.
