I love it! It has great service with all the books I need. Even if they doesn't have the book they will order it specifically for you. It never is extremely crowded. They have very easy renewal and long check out times. Memberships are free and make everything super easy. The also have a great section for kids with games, toys, and of course books. The visits from special people including magicians, storytellers, and singers make going to the library as a kid a fun experience. I love my library!

Love the new book return system it is so cool to watch it in operation.

It's a nice library with plenty of resources but it struggles with an influx of homeless people that spend a lot of time there. Computer labs are not often used for learning by said individuals and certain areas of the library reek of either cigarette or BO. I once found an empty 40 oz bottle of Old English in the men's room. I appreciate the police officer routinely there which I'm sure curbs some of these problems. I understand it's location is not ideal (directly across from low income housing, salvation army, etc.) and I admit some of the less than reputables are making good use of their time, but it's an obvious deterrent.

I have been an avid library goer my entire life. I have lived in many cities and towns. This is by far, by mountainous leaps and bounds, the best library I have ever been in. They strive to make sure all members have a pleasant and happy experience. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. There are courses online for infinite learning. If the JC location doesn't have what you're looking for, you can borrow from a vast Organization of Watauga Libraries (OWL). The two story building overlooks the mountains with a picture window reading room, an eating area, a teen area where no adults are allowed, an outdoor reading area, lots of events and workshops. I couldn't give any library a higher recommendation!

This is a really nice library. They have many activities for the family to keep them occupied. There can be some shady characters hanging around outside, but they tend to be harmless. I'v never had a problem with them.

Very nice! It has great parking and it's easy to find. They have a great selection of books, movies and other things. They have lots of computers that's easily accessible. They have an elevator, so very handicap friendly and everything is really clean, and neat. This place is well maintained.

Staff usually is friendly and helpful but the big problem is that occasionally they can be very rude. You should not have to deal with it when you are in a public library.

Great place to study. Quiet. Lots of tables (with outlets!) And good selection of movies.

The worst library I have ever been to! The staff is rude, the late fees are the most outrageous, and there are homeless people everywhere just lounging around! I don't feel safe bringing my daughter here, I've seen three different drug deals go down in the parking lot! In Rogersville, the staff would waive most of the late fees for people. The staff here in JC just doesn't care!

Dominica Bolden

The library is huge, they have an enormous selection of books and other media to choose from. You can also borrow ebooks they have as well! They host events all the time too.

What a great Library staff! Always helpful to assist with finding a good book or a special inter-library loan request. Easy to find and well maintained.

A wonderful public library for a city the size of Johnson City. Its budget for new books is substantial, and it has a surprisingly large collection of TV shows and movies in its video section. In addition, it has plenty of audio books, computers, and magazines. The library is one of the city's best kept secrets.

This library is about the nicest ones I've ever seen. The architecture is well designed and beckons to the passersby as a place that ome just wants to go into. It is absolutely beautifully lit at night, especially across the way in the new park area downtown. I'm generally pretty quickly able to find things and if not, there's most definitely friendly and helpful people on board willing to assist me with whatever I'm looking for or need. It's nice having a great place to relax in a good book while we wait for Quantum Leap to open. The views from the higher level are astounding as well. I really like how well laid out things are. We've always been to some events their for children. The bead class was neat! Also, shout out to Kaitlin, teen coordinator! We were really impressed with so many options for the summer program!!! In summary, JCPL really does stand out to us a a favorite location spot in the Johnson City community.

Very sweet, friendly, & helpful staff; large selection of books; very clean. Good selection of used books for sale added to daily. Feels like the heart of the city.

I'm new to the area and this is one of my favorite places! So many resources and programs. Especially for little ones. I will keep coming back for sure. :)

As a retired teacher I thoroughly enjoy coming here and bringing my grandchildren too. This is something not everyone enjoys anymore and it is a shame. Thank you!

Very well kept library, A great resource with Dvds, ebooks and audio books as well as hardcopy books. Staff is knowledgeable ans courteous. Yes like most libraries in most towns and cities there are the less fortunate that are there but there are few problems no panhandling and many actually make use of the resources available. There is usually a police presence as well. Simply because a person MIGHT be homeless doesn't make them any more dangerous than the average patron. Many are actually good people in an unfortunate situation.

all good things are wild & free

One of the best public libraries I've been to. It's always well stocked, helpful staff as soon as you walk in and it's right in the heart of downtown JC overlooking the park. I especially love the selection of online ebooks and audiobooks available through OverDrive. They also have a really awesome but little known program for people wanting to start a book club. It's called Traveling Tales and it's a book discussion kit with a reading guide and 12 copies of the most commonly chosen books.
