Our first visit to this library after just moving to the area. We were more than impressed. There is a security guard at the main entrance. We didn't realize at first that the library was not the only facility in this large building. This library is well organized and offers something for all members (membership is free for local residents). Aside from the Idea Lab, where you can learn new hobbies and use equipment - from crafts supplies to 3-D printers (there is a fee for materials used in these printers), you can rent books, make photocopies, send faxes, and use the computer lab. and Wi-Fi. The staff was extremely helpful as we were lost trying to find a few books, being new and all. There is a special section on the top floor where you can read books, but they cannot leave the room. Lots of history displayed in that room. We didn't check out the kids and teen section, but they seemed nice and bright as well. We noticed several cozy sitting areas, and it was quiet! Need a meeting room? They are available. Next to the library is a small shop where you can buy used books, puzzles, postcards, t-shirts, toys and other items to support the library. Hungry from all the exploring? We had a tasty (cheap) sandwich at the coffee shop next to the book shop. There is a nice, bright area with tables and comfortable chairs. You can buy a sandwich, hot dog, pop, coffee, snack or candy and take a short break before heading to the Erie Maritime Museum next door.
