Noise louder than a busy Starbucks. People whistling, talking in bar tones, eating, and that's just the employees! You'll get more peace on 45th street in Manhattan where at least white noises is mixed in with the sounds of thoughtless selfish humans. Library my butt. This is a bar without booze for the local pseudo-intellectuals.

I see homeless people everywhere here.

An amazing children's section. A quirky blend of new building and old. Parking is sparse, so try the streets around it.

Mostly what you want. Great selection of fiction and always have books on sale. Their non fiction is decent, and their theatre collection is great. A lot of patrons ignore library etiquette. Speaking on phones, and, hate to discriminate, but typically older, so loud yelling into phones with high volume or speaker on. Lots of transients/travellers who leave their belongings in the window nooks even though signs are posted not to. Staff is pretty helpful when they want to be. Younger ones especially. Older staff members are dismissive at times. Fees are ridiculous and often erroneous. Example: I returned a Tennessee Williams script and it was never re-entered in the system. A month later I got an invoice for $45 for a replacement script (price gouging much?) I searched the theatre shelves and found it right next to the new script they purchased as a replacement. Took it to the front desk and they asked if I had decided to return it that day. After I assured them I did not the fee was taken off my account. I do enjoy it though in the afternoon or morning when it's not peak hours. Lovely building, comfy seats, and great views.

The Ashland Public Library, and the Jackson County Library system, are great. The Ashland Library has great staff including real reference librarians! Throughout the library there are comfortable areas for lounging around reading books. Many computer terminals area available for patron use. I have attended library events and private events in various meeting rooms. These are available for public use for free. Terrific place.

I continue to be amazed at all the programs the library continues to provide. It's great to get book in person or on line. The reminders that your book is in if you have reserved or if it is about to expire is a big plus. The staff is delightful and friendly. Thanks

Requested (on line) a book with a long wait list about 5 days ago and got notified just now it is waiting to be picked up. Every time I visit the Ashland Library or go on-line to request, I am happy. Happy with this great facility right where it has been since 1909, and happy it is in my town. Thanks to all the great folks who work to make it such a wonderful resource for us all.

It’s a wonderful library with very helpful reference librarians and staff. I find whatever I need here, as well as taking the opportunity to discover new materials. I especially use the printed Music catalogue, both in Mus and in Reference. There’s a handy copier available.

More than books,, more than a community meeting place. A very friendly helpful environment.

I love the Ashland library. The staffing always so friendly and helpful. I also love the view of the mountains. Nothing better on a cold day than to stop by, get a good book and enjoy the view from an armchair.
