I've been there a 2 or 3 times to study. A little noisey and the Wi-Fi is horrible. My last time there, I got frustrated and ended up going back home after about 30 minutes. Otherwise it's a beautiful facility and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Let's start with the good part; people are super nice and attentive. They help me figure out the printing matching, I hadn't been in the library since I was 14 so I was lost. The reason why I dislike the place was that I had my 2yr old baby brother who was with my mother IN THE KIDS AREA was told to "SHHHH" because he was laud but NO ONE was bother to tell the little girl in the BLONDE hair to "SHHHHH" when she was also talking and screaming things out loud.

Beautiful facility and friendly, helpful staff. One of the study rooms looks out onto a wooded area. They also have fantastic programs, from a talk on Rumi to poetry groups. It's a great place to be.

Great library. Activities for little kids and wide selection. Books are arranged so little kids can easily pick out books without making a big mess.

I find that this branch is very accommodating and the book selection is excellent. The use of the meeting rooms help with my community empowerment programs. I love this place!

I take my kids here every Thursday and they love it. It's the perfect place for them to unwind after a long school day. I love how peaceful and quiet it is. I also like that you can check out books from this library and return them to any other Durham library. Makes it very convenient.

I have tried to call the main branch and the southwest branch and after multiple attempts, keep getting into a loop that finally hangs up...without even a goodbye. No humans working?

I came to library on Sunday and the guy with the glasses at the front desk was very rude and I was trying to get on the computer and he would not allow me to because he was ready to close the library earlier then the time was rushing everyone to leave out his name was Patrick Holt I walked in at 5:40 and he distracted me telling me computers close down 15 minutes earlier so e went back and forth distracting me until 5:45 then said yea sorry like why wouldn’t u just let me log in instead of lying about what time they close smh bad experience all the other reps are nice he was just rushing every time i come there it’s a prob with him

I love the Southwest Durham County library for the great location on Shannon Road, the study rooms that one can reserve, the helpfulness of the librarians, and all the books, periodicals, technology, and research material. I also love Interlibrary loans, and most especially, NCLive.

It is very inconvenient that fines can be paid cash only at the circulation desk and card payment is available online only for a 2$ fee. It is 21st century.
