Annoying security guards. Annoying staff.

Keyi Shang

Smells bad and limited chargers.

Allan MacLeod

Good branch in a crowded neighborhood, you can almost always find a study space here. The design is modern and well done.

Jayson Hartly

Clean, a good place to study and listen to music.

Dani Star

Yes for the amenities and friendly service no for the space. It still feels quite cramped.

It's a nice library, & has a decent number of computers to use, but though I always would see a decent number of people inside, reading, I never found any books there — as their selection is mostly geared towards children. If that's your local library, though, I suppose that shouldn't stop you from using it as the Library you get your books from: as unless it's ))))a#zas#*,3$1£~`|

This is a unique library, mimicing a den or wine cellar. I would go as far as a sports bar. Lighting is good, all 3 levels have style, childrens room is further away, allowing for serious quiet time & you can actually catch a seat here. Im a wifi head so the WiFi there is awesome. Cozy place that outside visitors know nothing about. Recommended.

Robin

Helpful staff. So easy to order books online and pick them right by the door to check out. Can return books to outside bin when library is closed. Better than Amazon!

Great, seriously GREAT place to come to when you need a quiet place to work. It's pretty packed on a Friday afternoon but once you found a spot , it's quiet, it's bright and the staff is very friendly ! :) you are even allowed to bring your to go coffee in a paper cup! What a positive surprise ! Free wifi! If you're lucky you get one of those very comfortable seats that have a small wooden table attached to the armrest two floors down. (Uploaded a picture)

One of the greatest resource for this community. Three-levels filled with a vast collection of resources. Patrons can borrow anything from novels, to DVDS, to CDs. Wifi accessible. The best thing about the library is: IT'S FREE!

One of my favorite libraries mainly because it does its job well of being quiet enough to work and not to mention, this is a very spacious library. Definitely has more work areas than most other libraries. The first floor is the main level where theres DVDs and magazines and a communal table for the adults. The second floor is for the children and the third floor down is also for adults and teenagers. In the times that I've been here, I have always been able to get work done, find a table for myself. Lots of computers for teenagers to use especially since many other branches dont have such an option for teenagers and thus the adult computers usually get used by the younger children.

I have a fondness for quiet, low populated and dark places and this library hits all three. Most of the library is underground, with a basement and subbasement making up the bulk of the space. Even the library building itself is tucked away on a side street. Staff is friendly, computers are limited though. A small but good collection of books, so you may have to settle for your second choice. Space in the classrooms is limited but if you have your own computer their usually willing to let you in. A small but charming library, good for sitting and getting work done.

The worst NYPL branch in the city: Rude staff, disrespectful guards, restroom smell bad and out of order all the time, dust everywhere and nobody clean in and outside. The smell in this branch is terrible plus lots of homeless people. It looks better when it is closed.

Since 42nd closed for renovation I find myself a little bit lost in the NYPL system. Where are all the new books going? Well the answer is here and few other lighter neighborhood libraries. Tons of homeless folks are here but no matter they need a place to warm up as well. The staff is knowledgeable and the book selection isn’t bad although nothing compares to 42nd. I find that I stop by this library once a week but mainly I just started going to the Brooklyn libraries which carry more bestsellers

Mark Johnson

Poor selection and unhelpful rude staff. Some NYC libraries are clearly suffering from poor and unmotivated staff but this one takes the cake. I will never be back

Pros: Quiet and clean Cons: sometimes crowded, hard to find seating.

Ajay Williams

Great selection of books and great staff. The building is well maintained and decorated. So of you are looking for a quite place to hide and do some research this is where you should be.

Kacey Stamats

There is usually nowhere to work. There are two areas for adult and 2 areas for children and teens. The kids areas are always open but your aren’t aloud to sit there. I get it. But when someone with a dosability comes in and NEEDS TO SIT no one will move for you. Especially this lady. A huge group of people saw me on crutches and didn’t blink an eye at me sitting on the ground just to send an email. Also this lady didn’t have a computer or wasn’t charging anything, she was just sitting there when there were open spots for sitting only. The staff is nice enough but long wait times for everything.
