REVIEWS OF Billings Public Library IN Montana

The library is lacking in material for such a large city. I came from a town with 25,000 people and an amazing, anything you could ask for library. We were weekly library goers there so I had high hopes for Billings Public Library. This was a let down. The transients lurking around have caused me to do a turnabout several times and find a bookstore. I wish this was a place where my teen son could use the computers and hang out by himself for s while but it is not. I would feel much safer with him at the mall, unfortunately he will not be learning or researching at a mall. Disappointed with this library.

Great place for books.

Very helpful staff, especially the kids section. I'm willing to bet the people posting bad reviews about the staff are rude and jerks to begin with. Lots of homeless people but they have never been a problem for me and my daughters. Cool place to hang

You have dufuses for you're security. I'm surprised they can tie their shoes in the morning.

I feel really uncomfortable taking my teenage daughter to this place because of all the scummy homeless people who frequent the place, who neither read nor study but instead use the Internet computers to play video games and lounge in the chairs sleeping off a bender.

Awesome library, great selection of the newest and most popular books. Kid section, very dedicated 'teen zones' and great computers for use. Most computers are for regular use, but if you need privacy; there are a handful of "private use" PCs.

the old women that work there are so rude and hatefull i wont be taking my kid back there they dont know anything anout the the place how can you work somewhere and know nothing about it need to hire people that are more friendly

This is one of the nicest Libraries I have been able to visit. The main reason I come here is for my daughter to play in the kids learning center and get some books for story tome at home, but it has everything including a cafe. I wish the cafe was open in the evening, but that is what you get for going in the evening. There are meeting and collaboration rooms upstairs, an entire tech center and a beautiful seating and desk area for study in front of the wide open window area overlooking downtown. Downstairs is a wonderful children's play center and story tower as well as a reflection pool. Too much to describe, but it's a wonderful place to be.

Kramer Schmidt

Very nice compared to old library. If the homeless and transients could be kept out and not cause so much trouble it would be much better.

So much has gone into this building , it's beautiful to walk around and take in . Expansive book collection to choose from . The story time tower is one of the unique parts of the Billings library that is a MUST to pop in and see if you have small children and can make it to one of the story times .

Jonah Prill

Really enjoy studying here

Joshua Donelson

Great library, online services and plenty of selection for books, DVDs, computers and lots of places to be read quietly.

Kobi Hudson

Such a good upgrade. So much to do. Not just books but awesome technology!

I only reviewed this library to post how disgusting some of these stuck up people are with their reviews. If you can't accept that people who are not as fortunate as you still have the right to use a PUBLIC library, you should be ashamed of yourself. The security is very much on top of if any disturbances and go as far as to not even let some people who have been up all night trying to stay warm sleep. If you are so much of a self righteous snob you can't be bothered with the homeless problem in this city, take your uppity self to barns and noble in the mall. Or get off your high horse and help the city to reach out to the lost and hurting. But you wont, you would rather sit on your ass, in your warm home, and judge the way others provide a place where some homeless and unfortunate people can go to use computers and read. And take part in programs to help them learn to find jobs. Some people were not given a chance at this life. Or some people made mistakes and now have to pay for it with hunger and cold. Or they are mentally ill. But they are human. Apparently some of you are not. #lovethyneighborasthyself

One of the best libraries in town. Thank you for your wonderful service.

Security is awfully rude and harassing. Especially, to Native Americans. Dear, #Billings Public Library, do not mistreat us #CheyenneAmericans. We will no longer tolerate discrimination. Next time, it will be a lawsuit. #NorthernCheyenne #Loveandrespecttotheveterans #Montana

The library is always clean. Materials are updated. Staff is helpful and friendly. To the snobs complaining about homeless people who frequent the library, take yourself and your screaming brats to the Wal-Mart book section. You'll fit right in. They have as much right to the library as you do.

Judy Hanrahan

Beautiful building and beautiful space, but horrible staff. I take my children to the library regularly and have had numerous bag experiences with the staff. I've never encountered a library staff that is this unhelpful, often rude, and almost universally unhappy. I wish there were another option; I hate going there but my kids love to read.

Alaina S

The new building is great, staff is helpful, my only complaint is they need more books, everything is very over-picked right now.

Mariah Frost

It's a nice place. Beautiful scenery with the large windows, but it is scary to walk around, looking at books, and see a drunk try to ask you, and others, for money. On only 2 occasions did I see a security guard out of my many monthly visits to the library. The Teenager section, of the library, is not a safe place for teens/young adults. Even though, it is a place for teens only, you will still see older people around there, sitting in the seats that are for teens only. Honestly, I'd rather support the local cafes, and bookstores than have free books with no security for myself and others.

Joshua Obelenus

It is such a shame that the tore down the Parmly library building. The library was huge with an awesome kids section (had a huuuuge stuffed bear). The upper level research desk had great resources. Their Microfiche collection was amazing. I would spend hours just searching the rolls of 'fiche.

kasey bjork

Every staff member I talked to was VERY rude and inconsiderate. wouldn't even give it one star

Shane Delzer

Horrible, Waste of money on the whole building, things are already falling apart and their hours of operation are horrible for the people who actually use the library...STUDENTS! Closing at 6 on a Friday? Really?!?! Filled with homeless individuals and really makes you feel unsafe. Not worth going to, go to a private place who knows how to invest money, like a coffee shop.

Stacey Pipe

Jacob Parker

Got to sit at a computer while a man and his drunk wife or mom came in being loud and obnoxious. I could smell the booze on them. Then the drunk guy tried to fight a guy who was standing in line to use the printer. Good computers use and good entertainment all at once. I have to give it 5 stars for that.

The people there are very nice and helpful. I love how you can check out and return books on your own without having to wait in line. The one thing that would be better is if there were more books, audiobooks, etc. I feel like there's not as much as I wish to choose from. Maybe I should donate a few of my favorites or write a few or something. The children section has a good variety

Shawn Wentz

Found my niche for this library. I dig it.

Remington Yoder

Great place to read books and hang out

Mont swede

Good staff...ugly building. The library in Bozeman is much nicer and people friendly.

leana gaspar

Devyn LeStrange

Love this library, everyone is usually pretty friendly and nice.

Nerissa Prescott

Pretty building. Story time for my little one is great, BUT I feel unsafe there. On more than one occasion I have had a run in with a homeless person. Some mentally ill woman "put a hex" on me while waiting for the elevator. On another instance my preteen daughter and I were very obviously followed around by a guy whose body odor and scent of booze was so strong that we knew he was behind us the entire time. The homeless population is ruining this place for TAX paying citizens. I understand that it is a public space, but it is absolutely disgraceful that city officials don't step up and try to figure something out. Until they do I can not take my children there anymore. We are suffering because of it, the staff is suffering because of it, the community is suffering because of it. This is absolutely abhorrent.

Cim Eliat

Never been there, but after reading some negative reviews. And spoke to librarian bout the 2 hour parking permit decided to go to the book store, where I usually park the whole day with no problem. Thank you for the review. Have a GREAT Day. Inshala : )

Get place, they have the area newspapers

Cody B

The library is a great community spot. They're able to host events and speakers now, and the new building really paid off. It has a nice, modern look and the staff is friendly.

George Sierra

Nice place to research.

Steven Benesh

Everytime I have a problem with Self-Check Out, they're right there to help me. The staff has always been friendly, helpful,& curtious. They try to keep out the Riff-Raff, & the Security guards remove them, immeadiatly!!!

Valerie Johnson

To the people complaining about the homeless: WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING TO HELP THEM, INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING!! Where else can they go? It's cold outside and the shelters kick them out during the daytime! Should they sit in the cold and freeze? Maybe you guys can get together and open a place where the homeless can go during the day! Put yourself in their shoes! If you can! Now, back to the review. Several months back, I experienced problems with a couple of the staff members. They seemed quite rude and insensitive but in recent months these ladies have been wonderful! So, I guess maybe they were experiencing a stressful time, which we have all gone though at some point in our lives!!
