REVIEWS OF Hatcher Graduate Library IN Michigan

A beautiful, well stocked and functioning library. I especially like the Clark Library, which is a library within a library! They keep maps and all sorts of cartographical information. I was able to view facsimiles of old maps from Japan including those of outlying islands. I also enjoyed the theill of identifying the intersection of two Native American Trails right in the center of my city!

My go-to study spot on campus. There are such a variety of places to study: from the beautiful and quiet reference room to the bright computer lab, private study carrels, and endless nooks throughout the stacks, there’s a place for everyone (especially if you don’t like the open floor plan and chatty nature of the Ugli; thanks for the life story I didn’t ask for!). There are a variety of resources to help you with your research (such as consulting specialists and a 24/7 online Q&A chat service). My experience with the librarians and help desk has always been positive.

I came back to AA 9 years after graduation and this was one of the places I had to come visit again. The reading room on the 2nd floor was somewhere I'd go when I needed some place quiet to study and it is simply beautiful. The reading room was actually on one of the lists of top 10 most beautiful libraries in the world.

Less chattier study venue compared to the Ugli. If you are very sensitive to noise and need focused independent study, go to the reference room. It will probably be packed though

Arielle Sokol

Great academic library with resources in many languages. The staff at the front desk is very helpful and well-informed. Items can be requested and sent to the desk (or other libraries on campus) even if they are located in Hatcher. There are a good number of chairs and tables for studying and once the library closes for the night, the UGLI is next door. Parking is a nightmare

So many great events happen at Hatcher Graduate. Performances, talks, symposiums and more. And it's worth an hour or two of your day to get lost searching for a book in the Stacks...last time I did I took home an anthology of 1950s science fiction short stories for no reason whatsoever. There's always a secret place to study if you delve into the labyrinth, far from the distractions of the outside world. Bonus: the folks at circulation are nice and friendly.

Super disorganized and unhelpful. They're currently "behind" and will lie to your face about it, will lie about when your books will be ready and where they are, and will not help you find them.

Matthew Neubacher

Quiet study spaces, aesthetic, large reference room and extensive book stacks
