Here you will see the reviews of people who are using the services and products of George Peabody Library (Library) in Maryland.
At present the firm has a score of 4.6 stars over 5 and the rating has been calculated on 95 reviews.
As you can see its rating is nearly the top, and it's based on a very large number of reviews, so we may think that the valuation is quite reliable. If people have bothered to evaluate when they are satisfied with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to write scores when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Library is classified in the category of University library.
You can't leave Baltimore without a photo here.
Stunning library! Lots of large tables for studying, but the lighting is dim and some areas are currently under construction.
Great old library. Needs some tender loving cleaning.
Great history place to visit.
Wedding venue nearby. Please take a short time reading. Wedding reception followed 6PM-Library. Pre-dinner lobby cocktails recharged crowd during jolly entourage speeches and introductions even thru the dance party. The place is appropriate, decorated and looked nice, historic and a decent reading hall. We had a chance to taste the food with a great authentic flavor of seafood and maybe fried or grilled steak minion with starchy stuff on side. Salad is purely green with some half inch red cubes on the side and a touch of what seemed like chinese dressing. The main course will be followed by desserts and hot drinks but I noticed that the bar was still serving drinks as the 4 young gentlemen from our table were still getting cocktail drinks and were becoming louder and wilder. We got lucky to be assigned to a table of young people so there was nothing serious topics only nonsense nuisance, good for them they can drink liquors but I am driving. I noticed at the start while looking for our table that the seats or chairs are regular wooden brown folding chairs but the table was filled with center artificial decor and all meal accessories arranged formally with cloth and napkins. Overall the place like I said at par with usual event except that was the most disappointing experience and the reason for 1 star or maybe negative is due to a humiliating advice we had from waiters that they are removing our table to make the dance floor bigger space. The lady began taking the table work while one guest beside me was still a 3 quarter away from completely being done working on his food. I told my wife to go before somebody send us to move. My wife ignored my remarks so in my upset, I left my wife and told her to call me I will be outside the building in disgrace. I went back after about 5 minutes and saw my wife half seated at the other table at the back. I was seen by relative of the bride outside the banquet hall at the lobby where the bar was but no action whatsoever was done and even ignored me. What a terrible day I said myself really.
Absolutely beautiful building and library...just amazing!! Would be interested to see the old books that are on the upper levels but a great visit to see this architectural masterpiece!! Highly recommended to visit :)
Such a lovely library! Definitely go. Unfortunately the upper levels are off limits.
Brilliant experience, just make sure you aren't disturbing the readers!
The best place for relaxing your mind(if you like books). It is very well maintained library.
Small but an impressive one. Free entrance
simply stunning. This library is a must see.
Very beautiful place !
Worth a quick stop if you're in the Mount Vernon area.
Great for photos, other than that, you can only access 1st floor and it's not a real library where you can checkout books. Do not park in the area.
Impressive
When I viewed this venue online, I fell in love. I figured I would call and schedule an appointment to see the venue. I spoke with Judy who was so not accommodating to a potential client. She was very short and not personable at all. I ended up making an appointment anyway even though she told me there may not be someone to show me around during that time. My appointment was 3/3/18. Do you know Judy had the nerve to reach out to me today 4/18/18 and say we held the date of 8/8/19 in January for you and if you would like this date you have until COB on 4/19/18 to contact us or we will release this date. First of all Judy, My damn date is 8/17/19, so the whole time you was holding the wrong date on top of that I had an appointment 3/3/18 and nobody reached out to see if I was coming or not, but TODAY you decide to email me the wrong date and give me one day to decide. AWFUL customer service, so I informed Judy that my fiancé and I already booked and found a venue with GREAT customer service, accommodating and personable. This is an important day and the last thing you want is to deal with rude employees at your venue.
The space will blow your mind!
Beautiful library made me feel I was in a Harry porter scene. A necessary place to stop by if you are visiting Baltimore. It’s located in the John Hopkins Peabody music school building in downtown Baltimore.
Books and books in a beautiful setting. Quiet please since this is an actual working library.
definitely recommend if you're exploring baltimore. visitors are only permitted in one area but it is gorgeous.
We arrived literally 10 minutes before closing time on a weekend. What a breathtaking place. If you are a book lover you will breathe the scent of old paper magnificence. This is a must see. Park and walk the whole area, it's a stunning part of Baltimore that many miss when limiting their visit to just the Port.
As a wedding photographer with a background in architecture and design, Urban Row Photography would love the opportunity to capture a wedding in this historic and incredibly unique space! The lighting, and unending stacks of books with …
Historic, beautiful, and a quiet place to be in the middle of a busy city. We walked around taking a look at the ancient looking books. There's 4 upper levels, but it's not clear if the public is allowed to the upper levels. It's a well maintained facility as well. A great place of culture and history and part of what Baltimore is.
Sitting at a long wooden table surrounded by old books makes this a great place to write
Worth a quick stop in to see why everyone snaps a picture. There's also a small exhibit space just inside that curates some of the cool stuff the library has collected over the years. If you're already in the area, check it out! Great rest from the heat on a muggy Baltimore summer day.
This place is currently closed until Jan 2, 2019 for winter break. The woman at the info desk impatiently and rudely spoke to me as if I’m an idiot for not checking the library’s website before arriving. I was not rude to her at all; it was unprompted and unnecessary.
Gorgeous Library!
This is an amazing building, definitely worth a visit. We were unlucky because they were closed for a private event so we were only allowed to take a walk at the hallway which was also beautiful.
Waist of time! I seen pictures of this library on Pinterest and on traveling websites so I decided to travel from Ohio to Maryland to see this library that i fell in love with. I was so excited to see this library and when I showed up just …
Most picturesque Library I've ever been to. Go to the back room too. Its marvelous treasures are some you'll tell the grandkids about :)
Absolutely amazing! Beautiful building.
Built in 1870s, this library is amazing place for any book lover. With collection of little over 300 thousands volumes, when one enter in the main reading room, one can sense the fragrance of books. The architecture of the library is unique and it amazes the senses when one actually witnesses the main reading room. Library is very well preserved by the staff and staff is very nice and respectful. George Peabody Library is located near Washington monument and Emmanuel Episcopal Church which adds beauty to that place. A must visit place whenever you visit the Baltimore, MD. I enjoyed my visit very much.
A wonderful gem, it’s truly worth a visit. You are not allowed on any other floor but the main one, which is a bit sad.
My daughter wanted to visit this library. Parking is limited, we had to park several blocks away. After a long hot walk we arrived to find out you can only access the first floor.
The George Peabody Library is the 19th century research library of the Johns Hopkins University. It's called Baltimore's "Cathedral of Books," and if you visit, you'll understand why. The library was built in 1878 and it has stunning cast-iron balconies and a massive skylight. Its closed Sundays and Mondays but has limited hours to explore the rest of the days of the week. It's so beautiful and well worth exploring if you're visiting Baltimore or live in Baltimore but have never been!
This place is amazing, if you love reading the library have more than 3000 books, you'll sense the smell of old books when you arrive, there are many tables where you can sit and enjoy your reading, for free. You'll also have Wi-Fi and many food options outside the building. Take your camera, you're going to love this place and please do not disturb the readers.
pretty nice facility!
Beautiful place
Good place to explore
The George Peabody Library is one of the most beautiful venues in the country and it is SO special to be able to host a wedding there. The whole process was seamless and everyone on their team was professional and offered a personal touch. We loved working with Laura and Sam and are so grateful for their quick responses, and help bringing our vision to life. We will cherish these memories forever!
The most beautiful library in the area! Also a great place to study
Incredible library
This is a historical landmark to visit when you are in Baltimore so I made it a priority. It is really beautiful in here and I love the architecture of the building inside and out. You cannot go anywhere except the first floor of the library but you can see plenty from the ground floor. They are located in Johns Hopkins University so sometimes it is closed so just beware. This is the library that was the inspiration for Belle’s library in Beauty and the Beast so if you loved that movie or just love library in general check it out next time you are in town!
This is one of the great architectal and intellectual spaces of the world. Walk back in time in the architecture and look at one of their incredible manuscripts. It's all free as well!
It's cool and like a dream come true, however I was disappointed that the access of books was restricted only to a few sections in the lower level. Apart from that, I think this would be a great place to sit and relax and do some study or research (on your laptop).
If you like books, you'll love this place!
A bibliophile's dream. The cast iron architecture of this library is stunning and well worth visiting. As a visitor, you can only access the ground floor but it is still gorgeous. We sat for a while to read and admire. Please be respectful of those students in the library trying to read and study!
Worth checking out.
