As a heads up, if possible use the self-service check out so you won't have to encounter the generally rude, passive-aggressive, clique staff who seem to believe it's important to reinforce small minded rules when you simply need change or to check on an item on hold, so much for bothering them! Derby is a nice little back-woods bedroom community that now has, basically, a modern strip mall. Big deal, this ain't exactly Beverly Hills, in fact the cost of living is peanuts compared to many/most places in the country. And yet the pretentious little staff here act with unjustified rude self-importance. So gross. As for the selection of material, it's not bad and they do have a liberal grace period on library returns. But If you're from out of town (or not overweight and also holding a child in your arms), AVOID the staff, they are potentially dangerous and may have lasting side+ effects and again it may be very wise to use self check-out whenever possible.

This library is the best! Storytimes are great, and the play area for 6 and under kids is a lifesaver! There are not many free places I can take my toddler and infant twins were it is safe enough to let my twins play in the baby area and still watch my toddler. The summer reading program is fun for all ages of kids!

Apparently having a fee towards a library books bars you from using the computers? Laughable. It should only prevent you from checking out books, not from using the computers.

Everyone is so friendly and everything is easy to find. I'd recommend this library to anybody. There are also self-checkouts and free bookmarks. The atmosphere is very nice, since it is so quiet.

Very nice library but some employees in the children's area talked loudly among each other while I was trying to read at a nearby table. Very aggravating, I grew up with the idea that libraries are supposed to be quiet. Please change this and be more considerate of others. The front desk could be better about being quiet as well. I am not kidding when I say that I saw boys here that did a better job at being considerate by whispering than some of the full grown adults that work here.

We frequent this library even after moving out of derby because the children’s librarians are so great. Really fun place to spend some time with or without kids!

Nice small town nice atmosphere everybody's friendly , anything you want you could rent the use of a computer which is always available free cup of coffee ,magazine you can buy books thereand could get a whole bag of books for $5 there's fax machine copy machine and most important there is a passport application fill out to get your passport there great place also free magazines that people have dropped off. There's a big conference room that you can rent out you can learn to play the ukulele learning computer all the amenities like the big library available

We lived in JoCo for 7 years and this library reminds me of our beloved libraries there. The hold (no extra charges!) and renewal system online is easy and nice. The kid play areas and opportunities are wonderful. My kids love coming here! I enjoy coming here. Also, no need for Redbox or Amazon rentals - they have an awesome new-release DVD selection! They also have an amazing selection of kid board games. They are clean and well taken care of. Every library should emulate JoCo and Derby libraries in my opinion! :) I'm sharing this review in hopes that it helps someone discover a local GEM close by them! This library is such a gift to the community! And if you live in Wichita (like me), you can definitely still get a library card here! Worth the short drive.

Amazing children's play area, which comes with a sensory wall for 0-2. This library hosts an abundance of free activities such as yoga, ukelele lessons, and family reading programs. You can rent study rooms, movies, video games, CDs, and of course, books. They have a bunch of flyers and pamphlets in which you can find out more about community resources and events. I come pretty often to use the printer and grab a free coffee. It's just a lovely environment overall

Love this library. Staff can be a bit friendlier, as they come off a bit stoic...but this is just a personal opinion...I never have issues here and they always accommodate me 100%. All in all love this library. Never gets too crowded either.

Nice Library with a good selection! If they don't have the title you are looking for, they will happily help you by getting it brought in from another Library. My teen daughter insists we stop in weekly!
