This Library is included in the category of Public library.
I was waiting in the parking lot at 8:30 am for the library to open at 9 am, but was approached in my car and told that I needed to move. Apparently you're not allowed to wait in the lot for the library to open. There is no signage to indicate you cannot park in the lot. Seriously?! A secondary problem with this library is the number of homeless people that mill around both in the dark underground lot and inside the library as well. It's difficult to feel safe. Most homeless people have drug or alcohol abuse issues, and there are plenty of children around. Really concerned about the safety here.
I had major issues when I bought a new iPad and Charlie from the technology desk was a life saver. He was so kind and understanding and respectful of this senior. He was able to resolve everything! Saved me a trip to the Apple store.
From award-winning services to extraordinarily helpful staff, AHML is an excellent example of what a community's library should be.
Great place, long hours
This is way more than a library. This place is focused around the community, creativity and so much more. This place has an area for teenagers and kids to have fun, and allows you to borrow cameras/camcorders and equipment for photographers and vloggers of all ages and experience.
One of the best libraries. Spacious and with lots of seating for both individual study and group study. They have plenty of conference rooms that can be booked for meetings. The only issue is that you cannot book the conference rooms online, you can only book them in person at the library, but they are available almost always. If they don't have a book you are looking for, you can request for it and they will have it ordered within a week's time. Very accommodating.
Used to be one of the best libraries in the country. It was known for its collection, excellent reference service, special services, and the high quality of the professional librarians. A couple of years ago they dumped most of the collection especially the reference collection. They adopted a bookstore model of service with many copies of popular titles but no depth to the collection. I read a couple of popular titles a week and appreciat short waiting times for popular books. I no longer use the library for serious reading. Ironically Kindle is much better. It is puzzling that a library would cede its strongest asset in the marketplace and adopt a model where all of the stores are going out of business. The other huge asset, librarians, are gone also. Non-professional clerks can't answer questions and don't know the collection. NO HELP for CUSTOMERS. It is a travesty that an educated community has such poor library services, especially when it used to be among the best.
Ever since I moved to Arlington Heights in 2000, I discovered this gem right away. Their DVD/BLUERAY section is amazing. Me and the wife go every Friday night to pick out a movie for movie night... just like old times..
Clean, very organized, free Wi-Fi. Love this place.
It has been terribly noisy nowadays in the area in front of the Hub since they put an event area for children to play and interact with. I don’t understand why it cannot be place in the children area. Or find a room for it instead of an open space. And why did they build a Hub for kids only to put tables outside the Hub whenever they have to study? Thus, making it noisy too! The library feels like you are inside a stadium full of noisy people! This is such a bad idea for people who just want to read/study quietly.
Отличная огромнейшая библиотека с прекрасным персоналом
Great place to take kids. I love the service that they had gave us. Staff was very friendly and helpful always. When I take my kid to this library. He never want to leave from Arlington heights memorial library..
I always enjoyed this super clean and high wuality library. my kids always enjoyed too. thank AHL for providing such beautiful services...
Needs a bouncer to rid the bullies as the teacher is afraid of the bullies at the school. So have a security contractor at the doors, bullies from Private school nearby and Metra traffic
Very friendly staff....
Amazing Facility!!!! The Studio is a great addition!
It's clean spacious and well organised...ample parking space... Great place for kids... I always get new books for kids every week...open on Sundays... Free wi-fi...
One of the best libraries.
Ok
I love the library, I can go there whenever I want to do homework or study. It is a great environment and has very kind staff. It is a very large library and has many books!
Worst library staff ever. Had a meeting room reserved capacity ( 5ppl ) Had group of 6 people Just to exchange documents Couldn’t stay to sign document had to leave immediately due to “capacity of the room exceeded” Totally non reasonable person at front desk of 2nd floor.
Good marketplace for new book s.
They have a every good selection of books and it's really big. They always have fun events for every age .
Hands down, the best library around!
Lots of books movies CDs clean great staff and FREE WI-FI!!!!!!!
This library is nice! Ever since moving to AH, we frequent this place often for our books and movies. They do have a bookmobile that drives to various areas of AH that is pretty much a mini library on wheels. You can even pick up your holds and turn in materials on the bookmobile!
A one-stop shop for most every need.
Great collection of kids books and CDs. Quiet study area.
Opens earlier than other libraries on Sunday. Great spacious area for the entire family.
My favorite place! Has an abundance of books...books on CD...movies...tech classes...tech help...sound space...geneology ... always a friendly face to assist searches ... clean, spacious, drive up window, all good!
Books are up-to-date. Children's section can check out educational toys. Computers for adults and children. "The Hub" is a teen exclusive reading/learning zone. Movies, magazines, and even a cozy cafe to hang out with a friend. Story tellers for kids. Sound/video studios allowed me to create educational YouTube videos. You can even book your very own conference room.
Well maintained and well equipped
Great library. My kids love to come here because of the computer lab, and the HUGE selection of books
The worst library ever in city in customer service.. they charge for old book more than the brand new book price online.. and customer service are useless, they can not get to a reasonable agreements for old books, they keep subjects hanging without solving it. I would give it ZERO star if I could. it is an entity that steals your money.
Wonderful kid's area which includes restrooms just for boys and girls.
Staffs are much better than average. From Palatine resident
This library is a resourceful facility that everyone can utilize. It provides a variety of novels ranging from classic literature to newspapers along with quiet study areas. In addition, they have an excellent staff that ensure the best for their customers. Highly recommended.
Tons of Xbox360, PS3, & Wii/WiiU Games. DVD / Blue rays. iPads for checkout (yes you can take them home) Free Comcast 30mbps/10mbps Business Class Internet over Wifi. Fireplace in the back with more seating than any other library in the area. Too many libraries split antiquated 1.5mbps AT&T or T1 services on their patrons. AHML has goten the formula right, they have the best content, best network, and best staff of any location I've ever seen in Chicago. If you haven't already paid them a visit I'd highly recommend it.
Great place for studying and reading, kids friendly
This place is a decent place to study, they have cheap coffee on the second floor and the books are up to date. In kids world there are some computers to use, although people use them to play roblox
It's outstanding place to steady for everyone! Stuff are knowledgeable and friendly. Atmosphere is very positive!
Greatplace for music selection and classes
The best library hands down! They have everything you could possibly need . Check them out for sure. Great for the kiddos also!
Spending most of my free time here!
I do not even know where to start. This library has everything and is HUGE. The kids area has music, videos, books, toys, puppets (YES puppets!!), and each book end has the types of interactive puzzles that you would see at a kids discovery museum. Multiple computer stations for different age groups, regularly scheduled story times and even a puppet theater that kids can put on shows. The rest of the library is equally well equipped, but you should go see it for yourself.
this library has a big internet connections it's disconnected you every time, there's service on internet went down it's like Mt prospect library slow like a turtle and honestly it's not fast inafe to do onlie clases it's disconnect me in middle of class that bad they should up there internet :(
Awesome
I have lived in Arlington Heights for seven years. Each year I’ve paid an estimated $1100 in Library tax. I rarely use the library and I have a library card. I went to the library to reserve a conference room and come to find out my library card was expired. How does a Library card expire? Especially when you are home owning property tax paying citizen of Arlington Heights? On another note I would appreciate it if the library would not staff three times as many people as necessary. The taxpayers money is not to be used to create jobs in Arlington Heights library. And please stop renovating the library with unnecessary renovations, including new automatic doors, new entryways, red brick roads, and I’m sure many other intemperate expenses. Please be respectful and responsible of the tax payers money and control your budget.
Well stocked library, check out the robots by the IT desk.
Great selection! Newly extended weekend hours. A great place to study.
best library.
They are so sweet and kind. There are many programs offered each day. I definitely recommend!
I live very close to the library and the staff is always very kind and understanding of our missing books. The childrens/teens section has always entertained my daughter. It is very nice and I love to work there when my house gets too noisy to focus.
Updated, bright, friendly staff and top notch! So grateful to have this library.
Everything is modern. Newly renovated study rooms. I wish there was more cushioned seating for the designated quiet area and an expanded quiet area.
I have been a resident of California (Bay Area and Southern), Florida, Pennsylvania, and Missouri. Best library I have been a part of - hands down.
Love it!
Excellent place for anyone
We really enjoy our library and all the activities. Particularly The Mother’s Day celebration with the great Hispanic Band on the third floor. Variety of crafts for children and great staff . Thank you!
This library has an excellent collection, and very friendly, helpful staff. This has been my home library for 27 years. It was my special place when I was a teen and now I am so impressed with the amazing programs and services they provide for my teenager.
PORN for kids?!? Dirty looking men (homeless?) looking at porn and library staff not doing anything about it. Even at the computer station that is at the printing station. Definition of sexual harassment here. You know, in a work place setting, if I see an employee watching porn it's sexual harassment. I shouldn't have to be explaining this to my child. Porn magazines at grocery and book stores have plastic wrap covering up nudity. Places that sell porn videos require no one under the age of 18 come in. What's wrong with library staff?!?!
It seems like a nice library but I was completely embarrassed as a first time guest of the library when they told me my children could not participate in story time because we are not residents. I live in Rolling Meadows and our library is not kid friendly so I was excited to try a new library with my kids but when we were turned away like that it hurt and honestly even though there are storytimes we are “allowed” to go to we most likely will not be back. I will stick to Schaumburg library where you don’t have to prove your residency to go to a storytime.
I've been to all the libraries in the NW suburbs and this is my favorite. AHML is clean, huge, modern, well-equipped, and has ample parking.
One of the best libraries ever!
5 star library. Hometown to me; been using AHML since 1959. Good staff, excellent access to computers with IT staff to aid whenever the library is open; children's section excellent; secure rooms available to public; handicapped accessibility is better than most public buildings in Chicagoland. Covered parking. 5 stars for sure!
Best library I have ever been to
Best library with in 100miles if not further.
This is a tremendous library. The staff is so helpful. The meeting rooms are great, clean and convenient.
One of the best around Illinois
The first time we visited this library, I was very surprised at how big it was and how much there was to do there. They have a HUGE book selection, a computer lab that anyone can use, a great kids play area (that my kids absolutely LOVE), a great selection of DVDs and Blu-rays, etc. It's very clean and well-organized. The staff is extremely helpful and it's always easy to find someone if you need help with something. There is plenty of parking and it's easy to find, as it's located right in downtown Arlington Heights. We really enjoy visiting the library as a family and will continue to do so.
This library has been such a blessing for me and the kids. We are super book worms and call it our second home. I’m so glad we live nearby!
They have many interesting programs for kids and adults. Before my kids' school started, they participated in the programs and enjoyed the every day in the library. There is a space to eat lunch or snack. There is not a Park in the library but we can walk to near park even little kids. They have a movie night each month and give some snacks or a little present for kids!!
Sweet place to study
