Someone once used my library card number to check out a book and never returned it. The library felt it appropriate to send a police officer to my house with a notice that I had failed to return the book and I was "stealing" from the city. I had to argue with the librarian since the writing on the check out slip did not even remotely resemble mine; I went there at least once a week, so she had many slips to compare it with. We went back and forth for some time and eventually she gave in. I was 12 at the time so you can imagine I have not been back since.
