This is a large modern library with lovely park views, the downstairs is devoted to the children's and media collection along with a large checkout and reference area. The upstairs houses the adult non-fiction and fiction collections with another reference desk there are quite a few catalog and internet connected computers and open desks with power plugs. The librarians are very willing to help locate and inter-library loan books for you. There are lots of community activities and meetings that are housed in the buildings conference rooms.

My daughter and I both have books out from BH Library that we are currently reading. I tried to renew them but it said "item has holds" so I looked them up through the catalog and both books were available at BH Library ie. not checked out. So I called and explained the situation and asked if they could override the return. The obnoxious condescending librarian whom I spoke to said that they could not do it. I told her that their computer system is not very intelligent and if they were a private organization and we could go anywhere else they would lose a ton of business but because they are govt we cannot go anywhere else. I also asked her to pass on my criticism of the computer system which she refused to do. So I thought maybe if I did a Google review they might actually try to do something about it. Thanks for listening. I'll be going to the library now to return our books and go to the stacks and get out a different copy. And people want govt to take over more of our lives?!

It has the best chess club in the state of Delaware. Players range in strength from beginners to state champions. 50+ chess players on some Friday nights! It is open every Friday from 5:30pm - 8:30pm. Best of all its free! A hidden gem. The Brandywine Chess Club has moved to 503 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19809

Last night Tom Leitch led a excellant and enjoyable presentation on the subject of how to read the news. He encourages us to become super critical thinkers. He will be doing ten more engagements throughout the state. Seek him out. A great evening.

Huge, beautiful architecture. Large selection of books and some computers and rooms available for usage. There is a park nearby too. The dog park there however has mean, aggressive dogs and is dirty. Do not take any dog here that can not defend itself, such as young dogs or small dogs. The library and general park are great, though.

Great library and they sponsor one of the largest chess clubs on the east coast! The club gets on average 50+ players every Friday evening.

Absolutely gorgeous library. This is the best non-university public library I've ever been in. SEATING: Lots of comfy chairs to sit and read in. Lots of desks with outlets to study at. Small private rooms for study groups. A dedicated quiet room for solo studiers. SELECTION: Fantastic reference section with up to date building codes. Excellent book culling strategies, nothing old & useless sticks around. Generous book purchasing budget; requests are fulfilled! Many periodicals on all topics. ARCHITECTURE: Glorious views out massive windows. Lovely staircase. Children's section is on the ground floor, reference & study areas on second flor, this separation is SO NICE, there aren't kids running around desks! There's a toasty gas fireplace to read by! CULTURE: Helpful staff. Many community events, clubs, meetings. There's a movie night! How great is that!? TECHNOLOGY Great wifi, automated print system, runs off swipe cards, public PC access, runs off cards BUT also available to guests! even some limited copy services! Very painless!
